Gregg is the perfect example of how you can be a great drummer and a personality at the same time. He has incredible knowledge and it shows. Have to admire how he operates and how much of a job he does.
Saw him at a modern drummer drum festival in late 80’s during DLR era. Played huge double bass set and rocked the doors of the place. He had a giant head of hair back then. Was very cool and super enthusiastic
I'm tempted to think that if John Dolmayan heard Gregg Bissonette's version, he'd be at least with one idea feeling like "I feel like trying this the next time I play it, at least at a band rehearsal".
@@AndrewRooneyDrums of course not. But come on, if you're Metallica and have played Enter Sandman thousands of times and it generally needs to be more or less how on the record every night, and I mean, it's a sort of unwritten showbiz contract, don't you think that the guys haven't come up with things and were like, "dang, I wish I could have come up with this when writing it"? While, of course, that doesn't contradict in my eyes that at some point you have to let go, just leave as it is, let your child go into the world and do his/her/x' own thing. But of course, you every once in a while want to give them a warm welcome and give 'em lots of good advice. 😉
Gregg has played with so many; Ringo, DLR, Satriani, Don Henley, Ritchie Kotzen, Andy Summers, Steve Vai, Gary Hoey, Lukather, Colin Hay, Brandon Fields, Maynard Ferguson, Barry Manilow, Doobie Brothers, Duran Duran, Ozzy, Larry Carlton, Marc Bonilla, Keith Emerson for a reason. Ability, Versatility, Vocabulary and just great person that doesn’t take his job for granted. I have been lucky enough to have been in the studio with him many times and he will do this but with an artist or producer that “guides” him if you will. I have seen him do what he thinks fit without over playing and after the take the artist say, “That was great, but make it a little busier on the bass drum and a little more on the hi-hat. While doing a two handed shuffle on the hihat. And he does what makes the artist/producer happy. That’s why he’s one of the most respected and called upon in the business.
grew up with greg and his brother matt ,renowned bass player they are HIGH END talented not surprised you would like this and by the way shout out to WARREN MICHIGAN where we actually all grew up
He is so endearing in his joy for Music you would never imagine just has seriously talented he is. I would love to see him to some real heavier metal stuff. I just know he has the skills and the style (Duh!) to make it just something awesome. I mean he basically nailed that fucking kick pattern for Meshuggah's Bleed.
Man, you just have to check out the drum cover Bruno Valverde did from The Summoning by Sleep Token... I like the original, but what he did there... Believe me, it's mind blowing.
