I hope this observation on how Eloy Casagrande plays helps you figure out for yourself which of his skills at the drum kit would be interesting for you to practice.
Some headbangers thinks that a high speed blast beat makes a great drummer, but in the best condition or execution just sounds like a programed machine. beyond being capable of blast beats, Eloy knows how to groove, hits hard, at the same time being very meticulous and technical, dude's a complete monster.
I think it’s important to be able to blast but it’s on the lower end of importance compared to hitting hard, grooving, off count accents, etc… I totally agree with you.
This guy just totally blew me away when I saw them live a couple years back. Small venue so I was front and centre and I can honestly say he is the most powerful metal drummer I have ever seen - and I've seen them all. Eloy is a true freak of nature. And a damn nice guy too.
A bateria chorou nesta noite! :P
I watched his playing right behind his drums during the show a couple times and i never seen anybody hits the drums so hard, but at the same time playing very technically and disciplined. He is awesome. Great video. Thank you. 🤘
Usually not a big fan of these kinds of 'reaction' type videos, but coming from you, it's super interesting to see what you comment on and pick up on. Super cool man!
I love the way the bar is raising for metal drummers. This was a great example of technicality, versatility, and power! Excellent breakdown of his work. thank you.
Eloy é um animal na bateria. Intensidade precisão contratempos e sequências fora do normal.
I am glad Sepultura comes to the Czech Republic so often. First time I saw Eloy playing with them, I immediately noticed his proficiency. Dude made it seem like he was playing at much higher speed that he actually was. Those tribal rhythms Sepultura uses really came alive :)
I was quite sceptical about this react type of stuff when I first saw you upload it. But I watched now this one and the one with Inferno and it was really entertaining and cool to watch. Never thought a react video could be this informative. Thanks for sharing and keep them coming!
I've never understood how drummers play. Someone tried to show me the basics of keeping rhythm years ago. Couldn't do anything. Most underrated part of the rock genre.
As an aspiring drummer just starting out, I would love more of these type of analysis! And Eloy is the reason I get behind the kit and practice now. You should analyse a Sepultura song he did called "Alethea". It's got an incredible drum intro which sounds like it's in 9/8 and I'd love to see a professional pick apart how it's being played
Excellent! More than reaction video it is mainly observations and reviews in the technical skills of the drummer. I'm not even drummer but I really enjoyed it! I hope you keep doing this type of videos. Cheers!!!!
@@damage.0776 yeah he has great tehnique. This comment was more like a joke. But the fact is that cymbals do wear out a bit quicker when you hit em hard, especially that hard than when you hit them softly. I personally don't hit them neither too hard or too soft. Balance. But hard hitting is kind of part of this style. Great drummer tho
@@atterion3923 he uses Paiste Rude cymbals (not rude like Eloy, for sure ahah). I'm jokin' and i think that breakin' cymbals could depend from wrong stick positions and from hitting critical points on 'em, too. But you're right, man. Anyway...have always good music and good drumming! Greetings from italy ;)
Please make more drummer observations because this is great to hear you break down other talented drummers. I would like to hear you analyze Chris Adler of Lamb of God.
I like your channel because you really get into the technique and the technical aspects of the drumplays, and you explain every little thing that might escape to the ear of a non expert person. By the way, this one was insane.
Great vid! I suggest you to analyze other Brazilian drummer's like Fernando Schaefer or Betto Cardoso. Betto has a lot of techniques and Fernando is a legendary drummer. Betto Cardoso - song: Febre Fernandão - song: Draining Me
Welcome to Sepultura, Dude. Igor hit harder and uses even more ridiculously large drums. That’s just how you have to be. Most of us would be laughed out of a Sepultura audition, no matter how much we know or how long we’ve been playing. I couldn’t get through 5 minutes of Sepultura material at full impact force and I’m a pro metal drummer.
I like that you actually discuss aspects of drumming rather than simply “reacting”. I’m only getting back into Sepultura these days and it seems the band has lifted itself somewhat, maybe in part due to Eloy’s contributions. If you accept suggestions I would like to nominate the Intronaut song Cubensis (drums by Alex Rudinger). Or anything Dirk Verbeuren did with Soilwork. Cheers 🤟👌
very cool! this drummer caught my attention recently, hes an excellent drummer. great with linear fills. you should analyze a matt garstka playthrough. he might rack your brain, though XD
I liked Eloy's work before, but your analysis made me respect him even more. Deeply knowledgeable, comprehensive, enlightening and interesting: Yours is definitely one of the best channels on RU-vid.
Man, I´m not a drummer but this kid has got to be one of the greatest talents in Metal these days . This is crazy , complex, loud , unique ... this dude is 10xs greater than Igor in his heyday . Holy fukk ! Great video !
he is the best drummer i've ever see in my life. since he was i dont know 16....he was in a kind of emo band and we saw concerts and like holy crap this dude is a freak...now he is sepultura, the best metal band in thr world also!!! there is no other
there is a cool video of Eloy playing when he was just a kid, with massive influence from Aquiles Priester. I would like to suggest Dan Presland - "and plague flowers the kaleidoscope" from band Ne Oblviscaris
I remember Eloy when he was really young around 10 years ago and he was playing drums for Andre Matos (ex Angra vocalist).. In fact I believe Eloys teacher was Aquiles Preacher who is also Ana amazing drummer and was with Angra for a period
Absolutely loved this video. Eloy is one of my favorites, he blew my effing mind the last time I saw Sepultura roll through town. I woukd sell my soul to see some analysis of Tomas Haake or Gene Hoglan. They're undoubtedly some of the best drummers walking the Earth, but would love to hear a tear down of their work.
Phenomenal talents aside for a second (sure ..), the fitness required to play at this level for x amount of time, let alone for an entire gig, is an often overlooked but very important facet of why some metal drummers are in an elite tier.
@@drumtechniqueacademy I enjoyed this video. Your style of educational observation convinced me to subscribe and I'm looking forward to watching the rest. Cheers!
Eloy Casagrande is a fucking powerhouse, saw the big guy live this year during the motocultor in france, and even tho i came to see many different drummers and musicians, he just blew everyone else away in terms of raw Energy and power ! Right old school way to play the drums, Loud Fast and with Real Power !
Maybe Deftones use the same size toms..., to get that special sound! When you hear Sepultura, the drums sound complicated, but after your video, it looks impossible! Great one...
Never heard of this band, but that drummer is amazing! I can't even rub my head and tap my belly in two different beats let alone conceive of 3+ different tempos/beats. Drummers are becoming my new favorite part of a band.
@@GuilhermeTeixeira grande Guilherme ! Achamos quem critique o cara negativamente e sempre fazendo comparações !
I can't help to ask: as an German speaking guy. Are you german speaking ? If yes, are you austrian ? Because germans talk a little bit different when they talk in english. This awesome analysis shows even more what a beast Eloy is.
at @4:43 one can clearly see that you are helping him record this video, Marthyn! ;-] Re-watching this video again, as a drummer I really enjoy these videos. Cheers Samuel
Nice explanation reaction !! Eloy must use only 26" bass drum as his name says Grande!!! Absolutelly amazing drummer and if i critisism him from the interviews is a total balanced person , good guy and great musician with low profile !!Really nice person!!
