My analysis of Trey Williams - Drummer of Dying Fetus - playing "Your Treachery Will Die With You". I hope this observation on how Trey Williams plays helps you figure out for yourself which of his skills at the drum kit would be interesting for you to practice.
You should do Blake Richardson from Between The Buried and Me, obfuscation would be awesome if you can find a video of it! Edit: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-snGxAUBMZHY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mAWVpiKnNrw.html (much easier to hear drums, starts around 3 30) found one!
Nice deconstruction of his playing once again! I actually once had a semi-drunk chat with the guy, where he told me that he likes to play lots of heel toe for the newer, more technical Fetus songs, and goes "old school" with single strokes for the older songs, just to retain that old school vibe in playing for himself too.
@Frank DeFalco Yet Metal is primarily against politics and religion you fucking ingrate, Black Sabbath being the main pioneer's biggest song is literally called "War Pigs", dumbshit.
@@R3tr0v1ru5 to clarify MOST (not all) of Metal is against political rhetoric and certain legislation that holds humanity back. Obviously, you can't be "against" Politics, most people in the genre still vote or have their own views on candidates and officials.
I really didn't need a video to tell me Trey was amazing, but this is just so informative. It's great to see someone who really knows their stuff breaking down the techniques of a top tier drummer.
Trey is legit one of the nicest people I've met in metal, and as far as talent, is far more impressive because he was definitely drunk when I saw them and he didn't miss a note.
You're great! I've been drumming for 17 years and had a bit of a hiatus at one point. All your videos remind me of the tools I've forgotten about! Can't thank you enough!
An actual reaction video with commentary and explanations. Nice to see that there are people who aren't just straight up stealing videos for "reactions"
Marthyn Jovanovic Sorry, please don't get me wrong, I mean, to understand your professional reaction, I'll be willing to learn English ! (Because my English is bad haha accent doesn't matter!
i asked for "Darkside" from mgla under another video but that video got deleted.. so here once again, its just a joy to watch that drummer ^^ nice video btw, really like this kind of reactions, esepecially since there is no other youtuber that does this. keep it up!
Thank you for this series. It has really helped out a lot in figuring out which techniques I need/want to work on. Also, totally wanna see an Adam Jarvis analysis
Trey is the GOAT for swivel, heel up and Heel toe beats with death metal. As well as introducing gravity blast beats into death metal which was mostly a black metal style. He’s a LEGEND. Pioneer and as if their music isn’t hard enough they’re only a 3 piece… 🤘🤘🤘
I wouldn't have expected a reaction video, where the guy reacting has the same bass drum beater in his pocket! What a coincidence! Great analysis video, this is quite concise.
Nice deconstruction man. At first I wasn't liking the frequent pausing but once your mentioned you seen this before it made senses. I definitely learned a couple things here. I'm gonna be rifling through your other videos, I'm sure they will be just as interesting and stimulating
Am I the only one who would like to see Chris Turner from Oceans Ate Alaska? It would be so interesting to watch Marthyn describing his technique since it is very uncommon and unique.
Marthyn, i like the way you analyze them, you're kinda objective on it, and it learns me a lot on the way i play drums! thank you and continue! Good job :)
If you haven't checked them out yet, I highly recommend anything from Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy, the dude's a living legend in death metal drumming. There's also Sebastian Lanser, the drummer for Obscura and Panzerballett, and his playthrough of "Ten Sepiroth" is pretty cool to watch.
Just saw them last month. I'm a guitarist so usually I keep an eye on the string sections technique but I spent the entire show locked onto Trey from the side of the stage. He fucking kills those skins.
I remember listening to fetus for the first time when I was in high school and was blown away. Love this band. Pure energy. Thanks for the great breakdown!
Can you take a look at Francesco Paoli from Fleshgod Apocalypse? He's sort of interesting to me because as far as I have heard he switched instruments and became a really good drummer really fast.
It's hard to find a decent video that has it all (good sound/video,footcam,etc), but there's this one that could do. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-451KzibdI4w.html I hope you can find something to talk about in this one. Too bad there's not too much footage of him. He's a real beast. Their album "agony" still gives me chills.
If anybody doesn't know about "Marthyn" he played for one of the most hardcore death metal bands, on the market, and he is by far, one of the top three drummers on the face of the planet, that ever existed!!! And I don't say that out of opinion, I say that out of facts! Thanks for being such a "genuine, loving, admirable,, positive influential human being!" Thanx for showing us "Tricks of the trade"❤💜
So here's my suggestion for Jamie Saint Merat. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bn7H_dRydJU.html I'd put him in the top tier of recent metal drummers. Servus und Habe die Ehre nach Österreich! :)
Jamie Saint Merat zu besprechen wär wirklich fantastisch, würde hier auch besonders den Song Abrogation erwähnen, der gegen Ende des Songs einen sehr schönen Ride/Kick-Groove enthält. :)
I was thinking more him playing Dead Oceans, Abrogation or Extinguished Light, but this will work too ;). Like this for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Brh1YKTON1Q.html
Hi martyn, first of all congratulations for your hard work explaining all details of drummers techniques. i think that the real key of the question when you learn to play doubles is to set the sensitivity (threshold) of the trigger. you must be very accurate to make sound doubles when you really want it. And not to sound doubles when you want to play singles (missfire) . The settings on trigger module, the tension of the head, and pedal settings are as important as the technique you are using. Best regards from canary islands and a big hug
knew this was gonna be love or hate... a lot of my drummer friends are into death metal, so im happy to see that they are not wrong in appreciating the insane things these guys do!
Samus Paulicelli (66samus) Aaron Kitcher (Infant Anihilator) Kevin Paradis (Benighted, various bands) and the king of speed metal drumming (sic), Phil Rudd (ACDC).
You don't need longboards to use heel toe... not that you said they're necessary btw. I just always hear that it's necessary but in reality you just need to play with lower spring tension on your kicks
Please do a Delta Empire video, I am a metal guitarist and understand drumming to a degree but want your opinion on who I believe is a truly class drummer, precision, power and feel.
Wow !!! I love all of your video ! But this one is more than amazing ! Hahaha ! Without your explanation I would have miss a lot of informations ! Thx for all !
