JOHN HENRY BONHAM DIED IN 1980 AND HE WAS THE GREATEST DRUMMER WHO EVER LIVED 😔

Your dead on about the majority missing the right things about Bonham’s drumming! I’m so glad you noticed, and brought it up!

Great insight into this masterpiece. It’s definitely jazzy. I look forward to a part II of this because you just can’t stop right before he starts playing with his hands. PS Congrats Ryan!

Remember …everyone forgets…he’s only 21 or 22 hear. Watch his Earls Court 5/25/75 solo. Much more mature Bonham , less arms more wrist , very very fast. Check it out .

He's definitely 21 yrs old here. This was recorded on Jimmy's 26th birthday - Jan 9th, 1970.

You are absolutely right brother! I too feel that John doesn’t get enough credit (if that’s possible) for how proficient a technician he really was because he IS the God of thunder! Chops for days!

When I was in high school 67-71 my high school neighbor had a kit and we would play all summer and listen to Cream, Blind Faith and Led Zeppelin. We thought Bonham was a jazzy drummer. Also Buddy Rich was on the Johnny Carson show a lot and we loved him.

4:49 I believe the first album was recorded using the maple gloss kit seen here. From then on his recordings were all done using his green sparkle super classic Ludwigs. He also went to a stainless steel Ludwig made kit for live performances after 1975.

This 1969 Ludwig Thermoglass is not the main drum set that is heard on most recordings of Led Zeppelin. It's only heard on Led Zeppelin II and live from Jan 24th 1969 through all of 1969. He most likely played a Slingerland on their first album. The green sparkle 1970 Ludwig is the drum outfit heard on most Led Zeppelin albums from LZ III through the end (but there may have been other drum outfits used in the studio. Even a possibility he used his 1976 stainless steel Ludwig on songs on In Through the Out Door). There's a possibility that he may have used the amber Vistalite on one or more studio recordings for the new songs for Physical Graffiti.

Thanks, you answered my question about this statement regarding JB using the thermoglass maple natural finish Ludwigs on albums. Your recollection tracks with mine about his studio kits.

Led Zep at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh was the best concert in my life! Four solid hours of music! 8:00 to 10:00, a hallf hour break, then 10:30 until about 12:30, when the fire marshall shut down the show. The crowd was throwing lit joints onto the stage and they were taking hits and throwing them back into the audience. I saw CSNY once and the Stones in Cleveland twice. Both were incredibly great, but Led Zep was head and shoulders above the rest due to rapport with the audience. Robert Plant took a toke, held it up, said "This is life", tossed it into the audience, and lauched into Misty Mountain Hop!

Ginger Baker actually had the gaul to say that John Bonham was nothing, couldn't swing a sack of shit...it's incredible how insane Baker was on that youtube video interview clip ! Jealousy will get you and you're fellow " Cream " boys anywhere..anywhere near Zeppelins fame that is ! Funny how handful of years later, not to long ago, Bakers sister came out and said " the things Ginger said about Bonham were just simply untrue " lol ! Don't worry...Mr. Baker took those words to his grave !!!!! Would have never thought any of them would make such ridiculous statements about ppl in the same industry !

Ginger Baker said he hated both bonham and moon and they stole his licks, lol
@turnsufficient4971
@turnsufficient4971 Год назад
That's not why Ginger insulted Moon or Bonham. Baker insulted both, post mortem (which is pretty cheap) -- Baker said "Bonham and Moon couldn't swing a sack of shit." Bonham swung like a motherf*cker on the drums - all throughout his career. If anything --- Baker was jealous of both drummers, bc Baker couldn't get along with people and stick with any band for very long. Baker was an arrogant as*hole and pretty vanished into obscurity after Cream. I know he was with Blind Faith - it didn't last long and Baker put out albums ---- he never came close to anything successful as Cream. I'd call Baker a "tool" -- but tools are useful.
