Roger Taylor is still very active with drums even though he’s older. It really amazes me, so I’m in love with Roger and his drummer skills.

Roger has always said that he doesn't like doing solos because he doesn't think enough people enjoy it. But now 40 years on there are some bits in there from the songs LIAR and from Brighton Rock that us core fans enjoy hearing again. Freddie and Roger cooperated on the Queen drum sound. They both enjoyed cymbals in the mix and fought Brian for their space. As anyone whos into music production knows, cymbals eat alot of space in a mix.

And btw Roger originally hated anotherone bites the dust, but now its in his solo.

Another One Bites the Dust is probably very boring to most drummers.

Roger is such an under-appreciated drummer. Never gets a mention in 'best' lists, and yet he is clearly a very, very talented player, never mind his massive vocal presence in Queen whilst drumming!

I mess about playing drums in high school (disastrous attempt really) but from that point Roger Taylor became and still is my musical hero.

I would've gone with a solo from back in the day. That said, Roger is a fantastic drummer. He probably isn't regarded as one of the technical greats, but he had some great chops. He was the perfect package. Top notch drummer, fantastic high-range vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, solid song writer, great look, and he could rock a pair of tiger-skin trousers.

Roger has always said he was never into the technical side of drumming but when it comes to playing the drums, he knows exactly what he's doing. His timing is impeccable and never misses a beat

I always listen for Rodger in Queen's music. I enjoy him on the drums. His voice is awesome also but to sing and play at the same time is very hard.

Roger Taylor was not a great soloist but is a great drummer. Odeon ‘75 is my favourite Taylor period. Also the press roll on Killer Queen with the bell shows RT has lovely finesse.

Two great things about this video, aside from the percussion. First, the look of pure delight on your face. Second, the roadie coming out with progressively more and more drums. They just kept coming! Superb stuff. You've chosen some terrific drummers to analyse.

Must say now I be seen and heard this, Roger has a unique sound both with solos and with the Queen songs which he so comfortably harnessed. Even two minutes into this solo I compared him with the likes of Ian Paice, Ginger Baker and John Bonham...to me they ,re all different with their techniques...all brilliant, but there’s only one drummer for Queen...looking forward to hearing more from R M T!

his left foot was actually opening and closing the hi-hat, that’s one of his techniques, to pair a hi-hat open/close with a snare or bass hit to fill out the sound.

Really enjoy watching your reactions but especially the analysis. It’s cool to see you breakdown the techniques used. Not sure if you take suggestions, but I’d love to see your analysis of Thomas Pridgen playing along to the track State of Grace on Drumeo. It’s not a solo but he seems to be doing a lot but it’s hard for me to make sense of just watching myself. Either way, keep up the videos.

I'm not a big fan of drum solos. However, I'd like to see you break down a regular performance. I also realize that video footage is hard to come by because drummers are not lead singers or guitarists. So I may be asking a lot here. It would be great to see a regular performance of Danny Seraphine and Jeff Porcaro to name couple. They're 2 of the best in the business. So it would be great to get your breakdown. Thank you.

" I can remember who the drum was but he was playing on the string bass. " I think the answer is Ray Bauduc and Bob Haggert playing "Big Noise from Winnetka." Although quite a number of drummers have recorded a version of this tune. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KfFBdViZHzk.html

If you've not done it already, check out this video 'Funniest Drum Solo of all Time'. It's not that funny, but as a drummer, you'll appreciate it. The drummer plays snare, and a friend brings out a piece of kit every few minutes until there's a full kit. I've seen it a few times, and the drummer has some awesome skills. Well worth a watch. And, from what I've just seen, it looks like Roger's seen it too, and stole the idea? lol And thanks for all your reaction vids!
