Absolutely THE drum throne decision video. I have rotated scoliosis, and a Hip replacement along with other compensation issues. So far, tractor seats are a no-go, mushy seats same, and most as well. Gretsch's newest branded round badge throne has a firm memory foam surface and seems to be the best for my issues. Thanks for this video.

Came here to see if I'm teaching my students properly. Happy to see someone clearly explaining everything I've been sharing in my lessons about thrones. I always tell my students that they will hear bad myths about thrones. Great video

With shock absorption you mean thrones that are adjustable through a hydraulic system meaning hydraulic operated thrones are not ideal? So in essence the best throne would be a hard, round throne with a spindle adjustment and quality connections so that nothing is wobbling / everything is as stable as possible?

Man Id like to go to a more sturdy top. I currently have a soft round pork pie seat and a standard rock and sok. I tend to switch between both. But i play 3-4 hours a night.... i dont think sturdy will feel great on the 3rd set

Excellent! Again I couldn't agree more. You articulated really well. This is why I don't prefer the DW Airlift 9000.

Thanks Brandon very helpful. I realized many years that the most important part of a drum set is the throne.

@Brandon Green your most welcome. I've never seen a video that systematically breaks down the mechanics behind proper throne positioning and drum setup. Thanks a million

@@brandondrummechanicsMust be an American kinda thing? I dunno since I can only find a Pearl with that around $250. I've seen the saddle seats, I've seen the saddle seats with a split in the foam, I've seen the back rests, office chair style adjustment, but I only just heard about the shock absorbers. Seems like absolute silly shit to me considering how you'd bounce around. Never seen other drummers use this either.

Brandon, is it normal if I am not able to maintain balance when lifting both of my feet off the ground half an inch? It immediately causes me to lurch forward, regardless or my seat height or how far back my butt is on the seat.

Hi Brandon, so, I have a roc n soc with a tractor top on it. I want a round one, but after I seen this I was wondering if a more firm top would be better. However, I have a degenerating disk in my lumbar and a firmer top starts hurting rather quickly. Is softer better in this case?

Great video! I totally agree with all your sentences. I have a question: would you recommend a piano stool for drumming (expecially if there's need for extra pedals on left side, like cowbell, e-drums kick pad etcetera)? It seems wider and more stable (4 legs vs single central pivot)...

What do you think about rock'n' soc drum throne
@brandondrummechanics
@brandondrummechanics Год назад
Honestly, I don’t think much of it. I’m sure it’s great for some people. At this point the DW 9000 round top is been my go to rod stroke recommendation for everyone. It is firm, durable, and easy to adjust.

Hi Brandon! I really love your videos, very informative, like very much the bio-mechanical explanations! I am still struggling a little bit with the seat preference (I started to play the drum again recently after a 15 years of pause). I have a round Tama HT830B, but recently had the opportunity to try out a standard Roc'n'Soc which has a motorcycle type sitting surface. In comparison I feel a more strain on the Tama, but mostly which feels strange on the flat surface is that is creates quite much pressure on the back of my hamstring in the front of the seat. I like to sit on the whole throne, because of that the pressure on the front part of thrones to my hamstring feels a little too uncomfortable. The Roc'nSoc seems to solve this for me, since it has only just a tiny cut on the front which alleviates that pressure, however the fact that the Roc'n'Soc freely pivots left-right feels a little strange to me. All in all I feel more comfortable on the Roc'nSoc after 1-1.5 hours, (mostly because that seat probably goes well with my anatomy as you mentioned also in this video), but this left and right feels a little strange in comparison to the fixed feeling of the Tama. What is your take on this left-right motion of a drum throne? Have you tried such type of throne? (Not necessary the Roc'n'Soc, but similiar). Could you maybe do a comparison on that in the future?

Thank you so much, I suffer of scoliosis and ernia, and I’ve currently changed over 4 drum thrones in a year with bad results. I’m still looking for the good one for me, but I had same thoughts: the drum throne has to be RIGID to me, and you’re telling the same! What’s the model of your Pearl Roadster? 1000N or 1000SN (Lower seat)
