Chris I have an I6 engine which means 4 lug drums. I want to convert all 4 wheels to 5 lugs. Are there any 4 wheel conversion kits to 5 lugs out there? What do I need to ensure these kits contain?

Fell short on vacuum hose and "strong drum brake adjustment" explanations. What does strong mean?
@MustangRestorationsInc
@MustangRestorationsInc 3 года назад
Sorry about that.....Sometimes my terminology is for the experienced & I forget who my audience is....Bolt the wheels on the drums... Adjust to have a bit of drag on the brake drums as you turn the tires by hand...Adjust before & after the system is bled. The length of hose given it the kit is for the most common uses. You may have to get more..

Hello Chris, hope your holidays were good. I did order this from Kentucky Mustang (arrives today in fact) but an you give good tips on adjusting the proportioning valve ? There has to be some method like "Start with quarter turns" or something....Don't really want to lock up the rears and keep trying till they don't ...LOL...any tips ? Like I said I have this exact kit

Hi Bob. Start with full turns one way or the other until you are feeling some type of an effect. Please tell Kentucky that you saw my video... Thanks !

Doc, you are amazing. I would like to install a booster on my 1965 Mustang Convertible (289/Auto). I will be keeping the drums all around. Will I need a single or double bowl? I found the following on Kentucky Mustang (Manufacturer Part #: PBC-A3) and (Part #: 494). Which would be the best set up? Thanks

Those seem to be the correct #s but I would call & talk to Duane at Kentucky just to be sure...Tell em the "Doc" sent you too. Thanks!

Hey Chris, I have the kit and ready now to install (theold drum system stuff is already off the spindles). The kit came with medium and heavy Loctite...where should that be used ? Zero instructions in the kit...Thanks !!!!
@MustangRestorationsInc
@MustangRestorationsInc 5 лет назад
We put that stuff on the bolts holding the caliper adapters and calipers. Medium on the calipers & the heavy on the caliper adapter bolts to spindles.

Hey Chris, not sure if you have ever seen this. I am redoing the drum brakes on my 66 mustang resto. When I was done on the front, I had spare parts and found the instructions. It appears they added the parts for self-adjusters. Did the 66 come with self-adjusters ? I haven't seen that in install videos BUT I do plan on using them ..just makes sense. Was that a feature added after 66 AND ..how the heck did people keep fronts adjusted before that ? :-) Wishing you the best
@MustangRestorationsInc
@MustangRestorationsInc 6 лет назад
You must be referring to the rear drum brakes as those are the ones with self adjusters.. Yes put the parts on...
@arcorob
@arcorob 6 лет назад
I promise you its the fronts. I have adjusters and hardware for all 4 ...Here is a link to the instructions (a picture I took) and yes, it all fits 1drv.ms/u/s!AoQ15fY-JFvS-NtdEUDz6sVGcDJE2w

Hi. This video is for the conversion of the front brake's to Disc style from drum. So naturally I thought that is what you were doing. In your case since you are sticking with front drum brakes then yes by all means install the self adjuster hardware..

Thanks ..sorry to bug you on it but 1) Watched another video and he skipped that entirely and 2) Mine did not have it on - just a spring from the bottom of the two shoes....strange but all good now...thanks

At some point in the cars past. A mechanic left those parts off. Most likely because he did not want to spend the time or money replacing the worn parts..

@MustangRestorationsInc

Hi Steven.. No I haven't from Kentucky. We put a few Wilwood & MPB systems.. & have seen most of whats on the market. The challenge is making the parking brake function in those conversions.
