In a time when thrash was at it's absolute peak this was the album that ruled them all. So many great records were coming out at the end of the 80's and early 90's, was an amazing time to be a fan of this genre. I've been a Megadeth fan since 1987. This album was huge back in 1990. I was 16 and bought the cassette at Hastings and popped it in my stereo at home and was going fuck! 😲 30 years later the album is still as good as it was in high school.

@@11DNA11 I remember having the cassette on my person at all times in my coat pocket so that when I had access to a cassette player I would show anyone how great this album was. Blew the doors right off the world of thrash metal. Still today it's greatness shows. With all the turmoil that Mustaine and Ellefson went thru leading up to recording this landmark album im glad they got clean because Mustaine had to go to a 30 day treatment while they were tracking the bass and drums without telling the producer and Dave came in and crushed the Rhythm and lead tracking. Changed the lives of the whole band. Marty Friedman didn't have a lot to piss in before he joined Megadeth. My favorite lineup and they made historic music.

Best thrash metal alubum ever, Lucretia's my favorite song on the alubum, great reactions my friend ❤️. If it weren't for Nick and marty this would not have been possible, my favorite megadeth line up ever.

About Poison Was The Cure. It's just a story Dave told about his drug addiction. He was basically addicted to everything on earth at once. Luckily he got sober, because it would've killed him in the 90's already.

You got my subscription. You remind me of when I first listened to this perfect album 30 years ago. Jesus time fuckin flies! I used to carry the cassette in my pocket at school that year so that when I had the chance to blast this album in my friends badass car stereo we were ready. Goddamn I love this album. I like the fact your listening to the original recording fuck yes! I've seen this great band 15 times and got yo meet the band during the 20 year anniversary tour for this album. Dave and the band signed my concert shirt That night they played this album in its entirety. Back in 1990 this shit blew my mind plus I was really high too. 😆

@@chriskerr8736 "That's all we get?" No, give them like five seconds to continue LOL. I know Ellefson and Friedman generally would tag the other in every four bars of guitar solo, give or take, and I never did learn to tell by ear who was who. I forget who swapped to the bass when it was used, but I think Mustaine generally did the lead for the non-solo parts, if he was playing guitar.

Dave is fast indeed, but he is also melodic as well, try listening to any of the albums that Marty (a guitar god as well) isn't on. Dave Mustaine can do it all. He's the best of the best. Period.

@@chucksmash1 Mustaine can play some melodic stuff however Marty being more exotic and soulful allowed Dave to dig into his no BS approach faster aggressive and to the point solos. Marty and Dave’s styles contrasted each other perfectly and Marty is untouchable people can play his notes but no one sounds like him .

Dave is a more blues based player (as far as solo construction) while Marty is neo-classical all the way. Both were hugely influenced by Michael Schencker and Uli Jon Roth.

The reason the singing sounded different on Polaris is because you listen to the Remastered Version. Try to avoid that later.

First couple of songs in the album I think shows the main structure of the album which Im a huge fan. After "Five Magics" I guess we kindda start to see the non-progressive and more melodic side of Dave's composing (diggin the path through following albums: Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia) approaches which is still cool but not my fav of Megadeth (the song "Rust In Peace.. Polaris" is an exception to that of course) . I liked ur reaction which was kindda paralel to that. Cheers!

I think the songs where you mention you kinda don't like his voice have new vocal tracks from maybe 2004, that year there was a remastered version. So it's a 14 year difference vocally wise, therefore his voice is strained, specially in the highest parts. Nothing like the original which was coproduced by the band and Mike Clink (Guns n roses ' Apetite for Destruction!).

The second guitarist on this album is Marty Friedman. Of all the different second guitarists Megadeth has had, he’s the only one that I would say is better than Dave consistently. You can tell his solos from Dave’s largely from just how CLEAN they sound. He’s also a much more classically influenced player than Dave (who solos more based on blues) and you can hear it.

The Holywars video is good but MTV cuts a ton of cool shit out same with hangar 18. You need to get a CD of the original recording because the remaster sucks balls. I hope when the new boxset comes out Dave will release a original CD or just clean up the 2004 horrible remaster.

You ever hear the story behind that? Apparently people were throwing bottles of piss at the people that were on stage before megadeth came on to play so Megadeth played faster to get off stage during that show because it stunk on stage

yeah, I think the version of Tornado that you played had the vocals cleaned up a little. Some of the remasters of Megadeth's stuff gets criticized for the vocals

This is the best Megadeth album, hands down. Marty & Dave absolutely kill it on every song. And there ain't no filler to be found. Holy Wars is in the top 20 metal songs all time. Lucretia & Five Magics are my other 2 favorites on this album.

I think we're all together here, looking for someone to listen to Megadeth with, and witness the concept of the first time being the charm. At 34 I shouldn't be so excited and "reaction videos" should be a guilty pleasure but it somehow doesn't feel that way. Cheers from 9 am on a Saturday morning where I haven't slept yet. About which soloa are Dave Mustaine's and which ones are Marty Friedman's: If every single note has been played clearly even if the instructions foretold of shredding, that's Marty Friedman. If it's just AAAAAAAAAA shred AAA pentatonic scale AAAAAA chaos AAA that's Dave Mustaine. You. will. hear. every. note. in. Marty's. playing.

Drummer’s name is Nick Menza. He passed away in 2016. The ride pattern you were talking about is a really fast 12/8 shuffle. Nick is the best drummer the band has had

My third comment after finishing the whole thing... In the Holy Wars reaction you were good at managing reaction vs song flow. In some of the songs you were reacting more erratically that may cause some people to peel away.

I saw Megadeth do a 20 year anniversary show where they played Rust In Peace live in order of the album. This was in Dallas 2010. Anthrax and Slayer also performed.

One thing about Megadeth, especially the album "Rust in Peace" is how deeply intricate and complicated the music is. Not to mention how heavy and fast it is. Master of Puppets is great, but it's very melodic. Rust in Peace is a kick to your face.

Don’t feel bad about saying holy wars is better than any Metallica song you’ve heard. I love Metallica and always will, but once you’ve heard the intricate riffs, solos and beats of megadeth there is no turning back. It’s a shame you started with rust in peace. Clearly their best. So it won’t improve from there. But they are all still classic albums and you should enjoy them.

Whoa! Ok. So i was with you until you said megadeath was better than Metallica. You really need to do your research before saying things. And this is not a megadeath vs Metallica thing I’m saying you have know idea that these two band are and were almost the same band. Somebody educate this guy.
