What a performance, I hope, you can imagine what it must be like in a venue like that & a band such as Santana, giving their best. It was a life changing experience we all got with live acts in the 70's. Keep up this quest of yours Lee, & enjoy music to the Max.
Chepito!! Galaxy-class fire timbalero. Poor Mike was struggling to keep up. Face melting organ by Greg. Carlos was Carlos, elegant, intense. The best iteration of the Santana band in the best era for music at the best venue, Tanglewood. It brought out the best in everybody
At the performance in Woodstock, Santana was high some say on LSD, but I seem to remember that Santana said it was mescaline. In any case at one point his guitar turned in to a snake, or so he thought, and he kept trying to keep it away from attacking him. Watching Evil Ways from Woodstock is very different.
You had the same reaction I did when I first heard these guys live. We had just moved to the Bay in 1971 and I was strolling through Berserkely when I heard these songs coming from around the corner where Santana was giving a free concert in People’s Park… it made my 14 year old self very happy too. A young drummer’s dream
@@UFOS4 those were the concerts we took for granted in the Bay Area. So glad they’re both still healthy and touring… not taking them for granted anymore
Saw them many times still rocking at the House of Blues in Vegas if you get to see them you won't be sorry thanks Lee love following you on your journey especially the older stuff my journey started with a Beatles album haven't stopped yet peace ❤️
Toussaint L'Ouverture or Toussaint Bréda (20 May 1743 - 7 April 1803), was a Haitian general and the most prominent leader of the Haitian Revolution. During his life, Louverture first fought and allied with Spanish forces against Saint-Domingue Royalists.
A Day in the Life popped up on my feed this morning so I watched it again. So much fun to watch your mind being blown. It was around the time I started following and it's been fun.
Still my most viewed video! When that sun comes through at that exact moment… wow! Even as a fan of just RU-vid videos in general, I thought that was a crazy moment caught on camera lol it all happened for a reason! Look where we are now.
The entire concert is amazing. This is the classical Santana line up. Probably between Santsna's most aclaimed studio album, their second, "Abraxas" and "Santana Iii" "Toussaint l'Overture" had not yet, I imagine" been recorded, since on the studio version of "Santana III" they brought in Neal Schon. It's the last track on side I. And the interchange between the guitars, organ and percussion is insane. I'd strongly suggest that you not only listen to it, but to the whole album.
Neal was a 17 year old Junior at Aragon High when he joined Santana. He also had an offer to join Derek and the Dominos at the same time. Greg Rolle left Santana in Dec. 1971 and Neal left a few month later. Neal the briefly joined Azteka before joining with Greg to form Journey in 1973.
That's nuts to think that the Chicago concert at Tanglewood was less than a month before this one. I'd imagine some people were at both of these shows. What lucky people
Im a man by Chicago and Soul Sacrifice are similar in having two of the best drum and percussion breaks ever. Both being done at Tanglewood the same year. Easy to confuse. The keyboard player went on to start Journey
Doesn't it seem like modern music misses the organ? Like that best friend you used to have and you're like "I wonder whatever happened to that guy? He was a good dude."
Love this era of Santana. Carlos is still playing a Gibson SG. Not sure why these guitarists switched away from it. ( Santana, Clapton, etc.) It was a big part of their sound.
Santana gets me out of my chair to move my booty. Of course it's in my hispanic blood. The same happens when gypsy Kings are playing. He puts on a great live show he collaborates with so many singers and musicians. I sure did love "Baby put your lights on" w Everlast and "Smooth" w Rob Thomas
Hi there 😊 1st I'm a huge Santana fan. But If you're interested in listening to the inspiration for the Santana sound from that period including "Black magic woman", the original, you must listen the founder of Fletwood Mac, Peter Green . Pure British electric blues with Mick Fleetwood on drums,John Mc Vie on bass. Try "black magic woman " live. You'll get it after the first seconds . Check it out 😊 take care ✌peace
