Our Drumonday pick of the week features someone we haven't seen on the channel in FOREVER! Gavin is one of my favorite drummers and he is so welcome back to the channel lol and Simon has been on here a couple times as well. this was a lot of fun. Thank you to our patron Robert K for this awesome pick. I don't know if a lot of my new audience will know Gavin, but he is awesome and so is Porcupine Tree & The Pineapple Thief.

LEE - First things first... Your Porcupine Tree videos are NOT rubbish... Anaesthetise was the video that bought me to the channel and I have been here ever since.... I look back on them with fondness... and rewatch them too. Then Patreon had to be part of the ride... So thank you for this... not seen this before and it was wonderful to see... Keep on Rocking young sir..!!

I like the way they played off each other. It was more of a collaboration than a competition, and there are another three parts, I think. Simon Phillips has a near fifty year career by now and he's the guy who could pretty much slot in anywhere, any genre. For drum videos I would recommend Ian Paice of Deep Purple playing The Mule, Denmark 1972. It might not be what you would expect from a rock drummer.

Lee, one of earliest concerts was seeing Bob Marley at the Capitol Center in Largo, MD, in 1978. One of the opening acts was Stanley Clarke and School Days and Simon Phillips played drums. That was the first time I had seen him. Then I saw him play with Jeff Beck on the "There & Back" tour (at DAR Constitution Hall), in 1980. I also saw him with Al De Meola on the Electric Rendezvous tour (subbing for Steve Gadd), at the Wax Museaum, in Washington D.C. I also saw a Drum Circle at the NAMM show (not sure if that was 2012 or 2010). Simon is a machine! Amazing drummer!

Also see "The Aristocrats - Blues Fuckers Drum Solo" (15:48) (on the rmabgoi channel) - which is actually the whole song. It was actually a parody of a blues song, so guitarist Guthrie Govan plays a bunch of wrong notes on purpose on a fretless guitar before the Marco Minnemann drum solo.

Simon is one of my favorite drummers, especially his work with Pete Townshend. You should check out the video concert, Pete Townshend’s Deep End Live. Amazing drum work from Simon, not to mention appearances by David Gilmour.

Yamo recommend the Porcupine Tree album Signify now. I was drivin' back from a vacation in Yosemite 'n when I got close to home I tuned into KAZU-FM 'n heard a song that absolutely mesmerized me...Sever by Porcupine Tree. I was compelled to pull o'er to a telephone box 'n call the station to find out what I had just heard so as not to have it escape me forever. A wise decision. Been a huge fan ever since.
