Many commentators and imitators miss the fact that Jon can put considerable grit and rock energy into his unusally high voice that stops it being just saccharine sweet and ethereal. He has a uniquely multilayered sound that few, if any, can match.

Yes was an amazing group for sure. There is that signature sound. The production sounds like a group of 20 doesn't it? Ok I think you named about 8. Lol.. Great song.. New to me. Time to hop on the yes train again. Soo😊 good.

This song leads into the last song on the album called" Let's Pretend", which is a nice acoustic/vocal/ keyboard ballad.

Keep this in mind, you are an artist. Artists are inspired by their surroundings. Rap,Hip-Hop, and Heavy metal & Grunge was EVERY WHERE, so Yes was adjusting, changing, and growing. So, this is their way of growing. "Big Generator," album is their Masterpiece album of the 80's.

Can't wait to finally hear "Big Generator" after all this time. People were talking about it on the roundabout video (which was my first yes track I think 😅)

I Love that You Love Yes!❤ You get it! Yes moves you-their music can help you(as you have spoken just that). I hope you continue to explore their library and maybe even see them live. No it’s not the original lineup-but hey if you’ve never seen them… The current lineup is a group of men who love the music and play with heart! They’re touring now with Deep Purple😮😉 You’ve got the the Yes fan audience and we enjoy seeing you experience the music!!❤

I love the first side of this album! The second side not so much…except Quartet. What a contrast with Big Generator! I was excited to see them live in Kansas City (my first time seeing Yes) and Tony Levin got sick and they cancelled the show. 😢 I hope you can start at the beginning of the album…it’s 🔥

Love this song and album! Such a handful of geniuses. BTW @L33Reacts have you heard prog from Chile? There's an amazing drummer-led band that's been around for 55 years, Congreso, they are as good as the best from Yes or Genesis, just in Spanish and with an Andean flair (winds and strings). You can start with "En Todas las Esquinas", "Mapocho", "Los Elementos", "Premio de Consuelo". I'm sure you'll love them, enjoy in your own time.

Love the lyrics on this one. Jon’s expression of frustration with the world being at odds with his spiritual growth. I hear him! Sent you an email with a short piece to read that I thought related pretty well to this song. If you have a minute. By the way, great reaction. You are so interesting. Have you read any of the books by Zechariah Sitchen? The Earth Chronicles.

The law firm of Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe. 😁I still have the CD from the day it came out 40 plus years ago. I was a lot more excited about this project than what Yes were doing at the time. This was more like the old Yes. Epic songs, multi part songs, Roger Dean artwork. And a Roger Dean designed stage. They were working on a second studio album when they started to run into problems from the record label, wanting them to do more commercial music and hit songs. They were later absorbed into Yes, just like The Buggles were absorbed into Yes for _Drama._

@@jimwilcox2964 Yeah, the next one was _Union,_ or _Onion_ as Rick Wakeman like to say, because it made him cry to hear it! ABWH combined with Yes West for one album only and did a huge tour.

My all time favorite Yes song is "Heart of the Sunrise". This is second. I wrote a short story novel that I published on Substack. 14 chapters and all chapters have titles based on Classic Rock music. One of the chapters is "The Order of the Universe". Saw them tour for this album in August, 1989 at the Spectrum. Great concert. One of the highlights was this song but also, the beginning as all 4 members take turns doing instrumentals...except for Anderson, who walks to the stage from the crowd and does an acoustic medley of songs.

The story is called "Two Sentences". It's based on a true story about something that happened to me when I was 22. The two best friends of a kid I worked with that summer were killed in a car accident. The kid I worked with was suppose to be in the car, but had to cancel their trip. He tried to talk to me about it a couple of days later but I couldn't find the right thing to say to him. Two years later, he's killed in almost the same manner at the age of 20. However, I thought he committed suicide --- survivor's guilt. I only learned about the truth two years ago. It always bugged me that I couldn't find the right thing to say, and I promised myself that if I ever had the chance to meet his parents, I'd tell them about the work he did that summer and two years ago I got the chance. I spoke to his dad, his sister and the guy who was with him when he was killed (I dated a classmate of his at one time --- small world). The chapters take about 5-10 minutes to read...they're all named after classic rock songs...including another ABWH song called "The Meeting". Here is the link. firebird7479.substack.com/s/two-sentences

The reason that ABWH couldn’t call themselves Yes is because Chris was still with Yes( the Trevor Rabin version). All of Steve Howe’s guitar work was recorded in London while the rest of the band recorded most of their parts in Montserrat ( British West Indies). At this time Bill Bruford was into the electronic drum sound which hasn’t aged too well !

Yeah it was the fad at the time it seems. It's a nostalgic kind of sound for me but I totally get it If someone doesn't like it lol it's definitely an early 90s late 80s feel

I am looking forward to Teakbois. There are Yes afficionados that HATE it, but I find it very fun and joyous, in keeping with the theme that making music is a joyous thing. And for those who don;t agre, I say 'some of you didn't get it.'

Matter is a set of precise and exact vibrations in a precise and exact set of energy fields. Energy is conserved throughout the universe (one song). We are spirits in the material world. Happy 420 everyone! This was an uplifting tune, victorious even. And enjoy the philosophical talk afterwards; the meaning of life and the mystery of death. I think the universal principles found in the Kybalion; like vibrations, polarities, provide some insight into the order of the universe.

@L33Reacts
@L33Reacts 5 месяцев назад
I agree. I think there are a limitless amount of "threads" we'll call them that are stacked on each other basically but it's all about what frequency your vibrating at to experience each "thread" we can slip in and out of different variations of variations of our own intrinsic perspective that continues on until the eventual death of the universe. And then we start this whole thing again from the top! Forever. Well, forever to us. Sorry this is just crude language trying to describe the divine. It in no way really encapsulates what I feel is going on. It's almost like the words have been blocked in our heads from being spoken
@kathybwell
@kathybwell 5 месяцев назад
@@L33Reacts the threads you speak of sound like sine waves. and yeah, it's hard to describe the ineffable. honestly, I don't think we're designed to comprehend the limitless divine. like mercury, it's elusive.
