Thanks for turning me onto another drummer, and band: Falling in Reverse. I've heard the name but not their music till now. And enjoyed Luke's playing. May I suggest a drummer Virgil Doneti from Australia? Back during the covid quarantine he/Joel Hoekstra/Tony Franklin/Dino Jelusick put together via internet a free wheeling jam version of "Storm Bringer" by Deep Purple. Dino has one of the best voices in rock today, and Joel and Tony master musicians, but it's Virgil with his traditional grip playing on the drums that steals the show. He is such a syncopated drummer, tight and on beat playing in the pocket while putting forth some crazy rhythms and patterns that are somehow perfect for this rendition of the song. And different from Ian's playing. I always have wondered how long it took these guys to put together this version of the song via internet playing in different countries. I'm not suggesting you need to do a "reaction". That's up to you. But if you want to see some incredibly dynamic playing with power and syncopation it doesn't get any better than Virgil on this version of Storm Bringer. A great song in its own right, and made "fresh" and new by these guys. Take care, and enjoy! ( Try as I might, I have never been able to play traditional grip very well because I don't have very thick wrists. Plus I always seem to hit myself in the head if I play with traditional grip. lol) Life without Music (and drums) would be a Mistake!
Luke is one of my favorite drummers.. if you haven't already... Check out his albums with Jason Richardson! This is NOTHING compared to what he is capable of!
Ear Candy for the Metal Head: Best Metal album of 2022? - "Sakis Tolis - Among the Fires of Hell". It's his first solo album released free on RU-vid. He's from Greece and has a band called "Rotting Christ". Yeah, I know. But their music, sound and lyrics are not as crazy and evil as the name of the band may suggest. But his solo album to me stands out more than the band, and the entire album is fantastic. I give it a 9.5/10. But its overall feel and atmosphere is what truly makes it such a great album. Sakis plays all instruments except drums, where he had a friend help him out with the drum parts. I do believe all recorded in his home studio as well. Now go crank that shit up to 11, and enjoy!
