Do you guys like these types of videos? Trying out some new things! I honestly had so much fun making this one. My ass still hurts from that fall though.... but a "like" would make me feel better.
Brandon, YES definitely I enjoy these types of videos!!! They’re highly interesting and a great escape from the global pandemic. Keep trusting your instincts, and thanks for both your fun and serious drumming vids! 👍🏽
as a music producer who's favorite instrament is the drums, this feels cursed. as someone who's favorite subject was always science, this feels blessed. s e n d h e l p
The most impressive to me was the double flam tap, kinda fast and really good execution, the others were not that flawless (they were but the speed wasnt astonishing, maybe silver level on the rudiment execution scale so nothing really impressive)
Brandon: Should I produce a high quality professional video, or should I just embrace my inner kid and play with cornstarch? Also Brandon: why not both? 🤔
I like how the video is just an experiment using obleck as a drum pad but instead he gave us information about Corn starch, or corn flower. In South Africa.
I really want to incorporate more lifestyle stuff (hence the skating clips) I feel like I have a lot more to offer than just drum stuff... not sure where the channel is going to go but I will continue making videos regardless!
Man, the editing on this video is choice. Like, between the fantastic humour, interesting concept and the friggin' fantastic edit, I'm kinda tearing up over here. Jokes aside, amazing video.
This is literally the best possible outcome for a crazy idea like this. 😂😂 Bro, I think you just discovered the next coolest practice pad gimmick. PATENT IT!!!
I'm glad you put that graph at 3:48 in. Not many people realise that "non-Newtonian" is not just one thing. All it means is "not Newtonian" and Newtonian just means stress and shear rate are directly proportional. Ketchup, as you mentioned, is non-Newtonian. But it's a different type of non-Newtonian than cornflour and water. It's a Bingham fluid (the non-Newtonian straight line on that graph) rather than dilatant (or, as I prefer to call it, shear-thickening). It has a small yield strength which means it won't move at all under small forces, but once a certain force has been exceeded (i.e. the yield strength) it flows. I figured cornflour and water would work for drumming practice but I honestly didn't think it would work quite this well. Different ratios of cornflour will produce different results, too.
Crazy how I studied non-newtonian fluids in middle school for 3 years in a row, but I managed to learn more in an 8 minute drumming video. Love the video production btw!
I so was not ready for that drum key to come flying out of the portal. So much so that I didn’t even realize it had. I thought the drum key had just fallen into the shell of the one drum, until I saw the band coming out of the shell of the other. Definitely had to rewatch.
Note taken: all you need for a good practice pad is a wooden board and some corn starch putty. Maybe some fabric or an old head to keep it from sliding or eating slow sticks.
Yes, I love it, this weird conglomerate of music+science combines into something cooler than just the sum of its parts, just like a non-newtonian fluid does!
I once had the idea to create a double layer kick skin filled with oobkek so every stroke it receives create a temporary horschak pattern in front of it. Probably would sound terrible, but visually I think it'd be awesome.
Hahaha I DO edit this all myself... It takes a very long time haha But I enjoy it! If you want to help support the channel check out my Patreon! Thanks for watching!!
Hey! I’d love to see a video where you learn Louis Cole’s new ‘4-4-3-5 independence beat’ thing. Loved the vid you did on his 5 beats, would be really helpful to see you break it down👍
Whoa whoa whoa my dad got reeeeaaalll suspicious when he heard the off brand p0rnhub theme and I had to keep telling him IT'S A DRUMMING VIDEO I PROMISE
