I just started drumming and practicing my rudiments 3 months ago. At that time, I couldn't do this at all. Now that I go back on the video, I can perfectly do this. Just shows me how much I can really improve.

3 months?! I've been "drumming" (if you can even call it that) for a year and I'll never be able to do anything like this.

Hmmmmm yeah I don't believe that at all lol. You can play Swiss triplets, that cleanly, at that fast a tempo? In 3 months? Nah. Sorry. Maybe like 30-40 bpm slower, for sure. But in 3 months, that's just insane, unless you're practicing 10 hours a day

I can do the first 3 no problem following advanced but I was struggling with 4 and 5 even on basic, because of the ending turn around. I'm starting to get it on basic but it took a very long time and I had to watch like 5 other people do swiss army triplets and flam accents. I just need to work on my speed. I have no point to this comment, I guess I just appreciate all the drummers teaching and I thank you drumeo for being so awesome. Keep practicing and progress will follow.

Honestly though I can’t respect him as a drummer if he is dragging straight 16th notes at 120 I mean come on. I get that he is talking but he should notice and not talk if it messes him up.

Doing this both Right hand lead and Left hand lead is highly recommended. Mainly looking at working the Swiss Triplets from the right lead and left lead respectively.

Note to self: Use a pillow next time. Now my leg knows how my snare feels x_x
@avrilinblood
@avrilinblood 10 лет назад
Your leg won't give you the bounce/rebound that is needed, a pillow - even less so. You may be able to develop hard coordination, but you will not develop good technique for using actual drums without at least investing in a practice pad.
@nytro8027
@nytro8027 10 лет назад
avrilinblood the point is to have less rebound you ignorant fruit loop
@avrilinblood
@avrilinblood 10 лет назад
Some Bros Studios Then you learn it wrong dimwit. Learning to control and use the rebound is crucial, cuz drums have rebound. If you want to learn playing a pillow then use a pillow. I am sure you will be a hit...

@phoenixlament6563

It's not really the sticks... what it is, at least in my case, maybe yours as well, but we tend to find it easier with our stronger hand to move the stick and get the rebound, where as with my weaker hand, It takes slightly more effort, meaning that we don't always control exactly each stroke.. So, it's possible that this is what's happening, not exactly our hands, but rather control, I've been working on a lot of exercises from this channel, and it's certainly improving, but only time can tell!

If you're a marching drummer before a contest or something when you wake up you can do this. I'd just recommend doing it off the right and off the left. I'd just make sure to have much more definition between the accents and taps man. A LOT more.

Interesting how you can hear the difference between the two sticks! always bugs me, because I am worried it's the difference in my hands... but it seems to be the sticks, as you seem to experience the same thing... great video btw, will practice to it a lot ;)

When I purchase pair of sticks, I always listen to the sound they make by lightly strike them on the drum shop floor (thin carpet) to make sure they are matched for their wood sound.

I would further add (what i do, anyway) metric pulses - with metronomes that can do that. So minutes with added metrics, 5 minutes solid your way (thus feeling/hearing the inner pulses when there is "space" between main beats of the nome)

Try using heavier sticks then you normally would use to play a gig such as marching sticks this will get your hands and wrists loose.Then change back to your gig sticks and play the same warmups.

The last time I played on a snare drum, was when I was in the 4th grade. Now that I'm a sophomore in High School recently I've been wanting to join the drum line, I started beating my pen on my binder in class trying to get my hand gestures on point. You think that I could still be good at playing the drum like you were doing in this video? Does the music teacher give the band music sheets for notes like these?

If the speed is a little high, try changing the playback speed. Some may say that’s cheating but I want to learn to do the rudiment right so I rather go slower and do it right then fast and do it wrong.
