I emigrated from Leitrim in 1966, and I am still a proud Leitrim man. I remember Joseph Mary Mooney very well, He was a very decent man, who thoroughly deserved the title 'Mr Drumshanbo'.
As a suburban Limerick teenager, I could not relate to T&É at all. In fact, it repelled me. If I remember correctly, my Irish teacher was of similar mind. However, Thelma Mansfield most certainly did not repel me and I did subsequently hear that Mr. Ó Murchú was a thoroughly decent man.
