I had a drunk neighbor in Emirates economy class recently, being in economy it was even worse, dude was leaning on me and shouting in my ear, then getting angry at me for not being able to answer his incomprehensible questions, the emirates flight attendant was superb at dealing with it, he even offered for me to move seats which I politely declined because of the extra legroom my seat had, but the flight attendant sobered him up and at one point even took him to the gally to calm him down, professionalism at its finest
I was also flying emirates when I was going to Dubai from Glasgow there was someone drinking Heineken(beer company) he didn’t throw a meltdown but I was scared that he was
@@HaalandEditz123Haha no way, I also had a drunk passenger experience on Emirates as well. He was weirdly loud and seemed like he couldn’t sit still. On approach, he got up to leave for the bathroom when the aircraft was only a few miles away from touchdown. He was shouted at to immediately take his seat by cabin crew. Then after landing, he got up again to use the bathroom which of course he was told to sit down again. He was talking to everyone around him when they were minding their own business. I was only 1 row behind him to his left, I didn’t make eye contact just in case haha.
I could never be a flight attendant. Some of the shit they have to deal with is insane. They aren’t just sky waitresses, and I applaud their dedication.
With reference to the AF boarding, what I cannot understand is that an airline will board a particular flight at the same time every day, and yet they often never get the boarding right. You learn from your mistakes (allegedly) but they - sometimes - never seem to learn. I boarded a long-haul flight (no name - the flight itself was delightful) from LHR recently, and it was rather chaotic. I checked Twitter, and the airline had been notified regularly about this very flight by unhappy passengers.
I think sometimes the crew just get tired of trying to herd uncooperative passengers. I once flew China Airlines lax to phuket via taiwan. At lax when they announced business class boarding EVERYBODY queued up. it was complete madness. It may be that despite years of trying they realize the passengers can't get it right and there's no point in making the effort.
You can enter competitions in France where first prize is a free seat in Air France business class, second prize is two free business class tickets and third prize is free business class travel for life.
Josh a nice review. I had an Emily and her sister situation on a transatlantic flight a few years ago that’s when you realise how patient cabin crew are . Looking forward to your Greenland vlog .👍
Great video! Good to know about AF J Class product. One thing that isn't new is their inconsistency of service and product in any class of service. Sad!
I had an exceptional experience with AF last month on their A350. Food was great and so was the wine. The service was great as well. You probably had bad luck.
Book a leisure route, get a leisure clientele, especially in premium cabins where you're likely to get people intent on drinking the price difference from economy in the lounge and on-board.
I flew Air France from DTW to CDG a year ago. What a dump! The personnel were not considerate and rude - and mind you I'm of a non-complaining type. You might say whatever you want about Delta but I was so happy to return home with them! I will try to avoid AF in the future.
We just flew AF (JFK-ORY) roundtrip and the crew was amazing. Of course we were in steerage (economy) class. Still haven’t been convinced that business class is worth the extra €.
😂😂 ☘️ I’ve experienced that once with another passenger on an overnight flight back to Dublin at Christmas. When he woke up on landing he was mortified 😳
At least she didn't have smelly wind every 20 minutes like the passenger next to me on a 8 hour flight. Both myself an the next seat up from me kept having to move away all night ugh
I had a similar AF business class experience in regards to service. I didn’t pay the full fare but it was definitely not what I expected it would be. I didn’t get a welcome drink and felt like I was bothering them. I wonder which European national airline has the friendliest service.
Happened to us in the old days of BIMAN on a DC-10 in business. A guy insisted I should take another seat so he could sit next to my wife . Yes Crew didn’t intervene so I did. He was shown a seat at the other side of the cabin - by me. The crew gave him white wine, and eventually left the whole bottle. Turned out to be an excellent Pouilly Fumé btw. I read now that Biman is a dry airline. Maybe alcohol will disappear completely from air travel such as smoking did.
I anticipate alcohol will be eliminated from onboard the airplanes. But it wont be eliminated from the airports because it brings big money to the vendors.
Bottom line, intoxicated passengers should always be denied boarding. Their causing an inconvenience for flight staff and other passengers is the least of it. If a real emergency occurs, intoxicated passengers cannot follow instructions, cannot help themselves, require special attention diverting attention from the real issues and can easily be responsible for injuring or causing death of other passengers or flight staff. Deny boarding is the only responsible action.
I flew Air France business for years, Bangkok to Mexico. I found them extreamly disappointing and the airport is dreadful. Eventually I swapped to Emirates which bizarrely was much cheaper.
Had an ‘Emily’ sit next to me in economy, and we even walked in together, so looked like she was with me. As soon as the plane started to take off (we were in back row) she told the stewardess she needed to use the restroom, who promised her you cannot get out of your seat during takeoff. All I could do during this back and forth was try very hard to emphasize with facial expressions that I was not with this lady. Super annoying lol
Is nobody gonna talk about how nice josh is to cabin staff and passengers that work for or are on a aircraft of a airline that he eventually bashes, complains about, and hates on the video
In some airlines, badly intoxicated passengers are offloaded at boarding. Not very impressed neither by the service, the product or the problem-solving abilities of this airline, but then not surprised either.
I travelled from Sydney to Dubai and on to London some years ago, using EMIRATES My husband was in the military and had very recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan, which didn’t go well and when he came home he was ill. Long story short, there was a man on the plane who was really drunk, nastily drunk. He didn’t like his allocated seat and wanted to sit in the emergency exit row like us. He began to target and insult my husband, then he hit him - hard, then he fell on us. The EMIRATES staff didn’t have a clue what to do about him, it was the worst flight I have EVER had, bar none. It completely ruined our holiday.
Mr.Josh I was wondering that if u have uploaded Vistara A321neo Business Class review or not? I'm waiting to watch that!!!!!!!! PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
This reminds me of a flight I took from IAH to CDG where a drunk passenger was raging in the economy cabin. He was then passed out drunk and always slouched to the bathroom.
I don’t understand what happened. Did this woman already come onboard drunk? Or was she made even more drunk by the crew ? It is illegal for the crew to continue giving alcohol to a passenger who is already under the influence. You could basically complain to management about this and have this whole flight refunded. I’m retired ba crew and we had those same regulations. For crew to continue giving alcohol to a pax that’s already drunk is an offense. They should have also offered you to move you to another business seat, or, if business was full, to a seat in first class. They haven’t done any of those things?
I found Air France and Lufthansa dull and lacking a bit in hospitality compared to Austrian, Swiss and many GCC airlines. Turkish comes somewhere in between.
I agree we flew Air France in business class there service and food is not that impressive at all. And truly we paid the high price for it. I do not recommend this airline.
As a former senior for 24yrs on a major ME carrier, the moment an intoxicated passenger was discovered, there were only 2 outcomes. If said drunk passenger was displaying these actions, before boarding, i.e. during check-in (after being informed by groundstaff), they were approached and questioned to determine their level of intoxication using the 'traffic light guide'. Once evaluated, they would either be denied boarding or if their condition warranted to be accepted for travel, then all service of alcohol would cease. This was explained to the passenger(s) then passed on to the flight deck. Problem solved.
@@fredinparis1 you’re talking about Josh? 😂😂😂 Personally, I think Josh is one of the most real and honest reviewers out there. I wouldn’t call him very very demanding, he simply wants what we all want……..value for money and a safe/comfortable flight. That’s not too much to hope for is it?
As an European myself, I feel Europe always have a soft approach in most matters. I like how New zealand and Australia handles this kind of matters and also tough with Covid rules and regulation. 👏
I recently flew on Air France from Atlanta to New Delhi and my experience was delightful. Everything was on point. The infotainment system, the food, the crew, boarding. But I've only used Lufthansa before so I was using that as the reference point and I can say Air France can beat Lufthansa in economy class for sure
I flew from Seoul to Paris also Economy and was so happy as the food was super and loads of snacks inbetween. Lufthansa is also good but Air France is slightly better in this point.
Well, I am not sure why you're describing your economy class experience in the comments section of specifically a business class video as comparing economy class and business class between 2 airlines is like comparing apples to oranges.. While Air France might have a better economy class than Lufthansa, it doesn't necessarily mean one can expect Air France to have a better business class as well.
I am sorry for the experience you had. It's actually very shocking as I had an amazing experience on Air France in March on DEL-CDG and CDG-DFW routes. It was absolutely sensational!
I've binged like 10 of your videos over the last 24 hours Josh - not only because you're just flat out honest about your experience (The Air Peace one was hilarious) - but you accent is fascinating. In one of your videos you said that you grew up in Asia and Australia and it's like every 4th or 5th word (especially at the end of sentences) you go fully Aussie - that twang is unmistakable. 🤣 It's such a great hybrid.
@@Life4MoldeFKThat's what I've been thinking too recently. His English is impeccable. The accent though is like nothing I've ever heard before. His youtube name, I'm beginning to suspect, is not his real name. He looks a little German too.
Well, as long as you dont make a mess in front of the airline staff at the airport they will have hard to tell how drunk you are. In a big airport with online check it is very possible that the airline staff did not notice anything unusual about Emily.
They’re usually pretty careful not to- going into the lower oxygen atmosphere makes the effects of alcohol magnify. So if you’re tipsy on the ground, you can be belligerent in the air. And nobody wants that.
I was on a United flight from SFO to IAH some time ago. The Captain de-boarded 3 passengers who were already seated in First class because they were drunk. They were quite peaceful but I guess he didnt want any problems in-flight
I had a 2 drunk passengers in the business class on the LH flight from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt. One of them fell on the floor when he tried to go to the toilet. After they started to be extremely loud and provocative crew offered them coffee or tee, after they stay persistent requesting more wine, 2 man stewards came and of of the passengers went with them. I remember I slept 6-7 hours and when I woke up, he was still gone. He returned to his seat some 2 hours before landing. I guess he was sort of “detained” in the crew rest cabin.
@@davideck I notice you didn't call the video maker a racist for his very same comment regarding Irish people, or is ok when its certain types of people? Or just because it was paddys day?
Not really, nerves can inhibit the intoxication while in air. To get properly knocked out you need to binge liqour (less liquid to have to piss) at the airport up until a point (leaving enough time to piss before boarding) then down diazepam within 30-60 minutes before take off, it should kick in properly when seated and you can be in a semi-coma until landing if the flight is shorter than 6 hours.
Years ago I flew to Bali first class on Qantas & there was a man next to me who was totally pissed. After he spilt a drink all over me the crew stepped in, but by then I was a smidgeon cross. Qantas eventually refunded my fare one way so it was OK. One drunk person can make your journey hell. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Once flew BA Premium Economy. Cabin staff eventually refused to provide drinks to group of 2 behind me (very professional and diplomatic). It was interesting to hear the passengers claim they were not drunk and could drink more (it was not overly obvious) and then 5 Mins later watch them walk…..stagger to the toilet!
I suspect that it's Sam Chui. I look forward to it even if it's not Sam. Thank you for taking us with you. I'm sad that you did not explore my country South Africa, though you transitioned from Lagos to Johannesburg on Air Crap, I mean Peace. Hopefully in your next Africa Adventure, we get to see you here. Well done brother!
I flew AF one month ago from CDG to Dulles…the lounge was amazing. I had a five hour layover and it was very enjoyable. The onboard was ok, but, you are right, the service in the premium seating is,not best, pedestrian. I had an amazing flight attendant who tried to fix that which was wanting. In the future, I will not pay for anything more than an exit row in coach if AF is the only option.
Most of my air trips were between 1950 and 1980. While much has changed, I am sorry to see that people under the influence of substances are still a problem. What you may not know is that, at least in the 50s and 60s, you could expect about 50% of the males on a flight to be drunk--including the pilot! Women, especially the stewardesses (aka waitresses) were always considered to be fair game for both drunken and sober men, so you were likely to see a great deal of groping and breast grabbing. The cabins were always thick with smoke from cigarettes, cigars, and pipes, the sharp smell of liquor, body odor, and urine from the often leaking toilets. Things are much better for women now--still a long way to go--so it makes me especially sad that it was a woman who was intoxicated on your flight.
Thank you for your post Olivia. I nearly spit out my coffee laughing at your 50% of male passengers including the pilot were drunk. Yet you are still here with us to tell us that story.😊. More sobering to hear what the female members of the cabin crew had to deal with back then. Thank God it's not like that today. I wonder if being a stewardess was still considered an attractive job back then. Thanks again.
Was in Sri Lanka last February, and was enchanted by the country. As your man said, the beaches, the train from Kandy to Ella, and of course Sigyria. We also took a balloon ride with Sri Lanka Balloon which was incredible. The warmth of the people, especially once one's out of Colombo, was remarkable given the economic shitshow they're going through, but will definitely return with my son. Flew Sri Lankan economy, by the way.
It’s not everyday you come across drunkards like ‘Emily’ do ya? Observing her actions would have been a better source of entertainment for you than the IFE imo. Well, that’s a new experience, an interesting one as well XD Also, considering Air France always likes to things in style, it didn’t really appear to be that stylish. They need to put in a bit more effort into their food service and cabin services as well.
This is true. My UA transpacific flight in Business class was very frustrating and a big disappointment, but as the ticket price did not come out of my own pocket, I can't complain too much. But quite frankly, I think that I would have been happier in the back Economy row of UA than Business Class UA. Another story for another time.
Oh boy…Josh what you sometimes encounter, you should consider to write a book about it 😉. I’ve flown Air France a couple of Times in Business and had never bad experiences. As a former Inflight Manager I can tell you, it’s very hard to deal with a drunken passenger. It would have been best, if she hadn’t board the flight in the first place. But since you mentioned that the boarding process was so chaotic, I guess they just missed out on expelling her from the flight.
Definitely mad respect for the crew. They aren't easy to deal with. I feel its hard to identify drunk passengers during boarding since most of them act rather quiet and chilled until they reach their seats.
@@JoshCahill yes that’s true sometimes. We tried as well to filter out those People during Boarding Time. And if we noticed we talked to the Passenger, placed an Alcohol ban for the entire Flight or denied Boarding at all. This has to be done with the Captain, because he has the last word on this. But usually they rely on our opinion. Otherwise it’s pure stress for the whole flight. By the way you’ve been very polite and humorous with her.
I had a similar experience on a couple of Singapore to London flights in business class (on SQ). First one was a guy who got so drunk and threw up. It's the only time I ever saw an SQ cabin crew losing it a bit - she apologised to me and said the guy was a "total asshole". He was in the window seat and I was in the adjacent aisle mid seat. Lovely. Second incident was far more fun - yet not ;) As you know, the original SQ A380 business class sights were stupidly wide. A girl seemingly met a total stranger in the lounge before the flight and they got friendly after several drinks. After boarding, she would some and sit in his seat (both skinny folks !) and as the lights went down (night flight), they were getting VERY friendly. Couple of visits from the cabin crew didnt put her off and she was forceably removed back to her own seat, as things were almost descending from friendly to 18+ porn lol. Still the best airline and crew ever - in my opinion.
Hi from Nigeria! Great review Josh. I use to fly AF on my regular trips to France. The only interest compared to other airlines flying to Abuja is direct flight. Coz appart from that, it's fair to say that AF lost its service quality somewhere☹, especially on night flights.
@@fredinparis1 Well... for instance, as the catering has been loaded in Paris in the morning, means it has spent the whole day in plane fridge when they serve it for the night flight going back to Paris, and you end up with literrally frozen salad or cheese! And when you make a remark they just tell you it's how it is🤷🏻♂️. Sorry but I don't pay for a business class ticket to hear this type of answer! And don't expect anything else during night flight, crew is just interested in serving diner as soon as possible then dim the light and rest in the galley.
@@StunXPlayz If we only talk about Abuja to Paris (direct or with stop over), Turkish Airlines and Ethiopian Airline are currently better in terms of quality of service, even though Turkish sometimes use a Boeing 737 on the Abuja-Istanbul leg, with a business class less developed than with wide body aircraft.
