Y'all. I really miss my own bed right now.. Visit www.birchliving.com/abbycox to get $400 off your Birch mattress plus two free pillows! Also here's the link to Chrissy's hair tutorial: instagram.com/tv/CaGaOCqpkaS/?
In depth Chrissy's bra fitting tutorial please. How do I figure out what size the root of my bust is and fit it to an underwire???? You can't tease us like that! Lol
Thank you so much for the link to Chrissy's video! 🥰 This video was so hilarious, it was amazing to watch and feel like we're along for the ride!! I cried laughing, I f---ing loved this!
@Zachery Lowe I don't remember the name, but it's the sponsor of the previous video they did like this, named *Ranking the meanest valentine's day cards*
@@sewventures6154 Um, I think it was apart of Death's cloak that he cut off and gave to the 3rd brother so he could never be seen by Death the the Beedle the Bard stories. It never explicitly states what the cloak was made from, only that it was passed down through Harry's Father's family line to him.
The first time my mom got drunk she sat down and made 3 neon orange and yellow Madonna bras with duck shaped buttons for her and her best friends so I think she wins
Please, for the love of all things sacred and profane, do more of these and often. I cannot even choose a favorite moment because the entire thing is *gold.*
I agree that the entire thing is pure gold, *BUT* the bit where they absolutely. *ROAST* 🔥 Charles Worth is just the absolute perfect Chiefs Kiss moment for me! 👨🍳💋
Ok so high quality invisibility cloaks are made out of woven demiguise hair, so I guess if you spin demiguise hair into a thread that would be what you would repair the cloak with. Cheaper cloaks are regular cloaks + disillusionment charm, so if you put that charm onto a regular thread you might be good as well. Note that Harry's cloak is of unknown material due to being a deathly hollow.
Agreed! The bit where they absolutely *ROAST* 🔥 Charles Worth is just the absolute perfect Chiefs Kiss moment for me! 👨🍳💋 Worth was a two bit *HACK* who's *ONLY* skill was marketing. 🎤⬇️
It's fun when you drunk-crochet, since there's less needle stabs! I don't recommend using sharps when drunk sewing. Ballpoint needles are safer and save money on bandages.
@Lori Sews Stuff - Early on that Vinegar Valentines video, Ms Cox talks about her struggle with depression. When she gets drunk, she is self medicating, never a good idea. Her counselor would have told her the same thing. It is painful to see her slide into a hole when I think back to the joy that she started with in her first videos.
Love this! Sad that it will not be as easy for y’all to do this now that both Chrissy and Abby have moved but I’m sure you’ll get together in the future, thus I now formally submit my request for more drunken fashion rants. Thank you for your consideration.
Oh there’s absolutely a story there, the fight over the patents was pretty interesting. There’s a Stuff You Missed In History podcast episode on it that does a pretty good job covering it, from what I remember. I’d love to see a drunk history version of it!
Ladies, you're confusing the ( * ) out of my dog with all the squeaks and then a Swedish seagull? That was a very impressive impersonation! I vote for more of these boozy sessions because: unicorn hair? OMG you guys have enriched my life with this knowledge...
I mean yes but I find it incredibly frustrating that John nearly never wears a hat in situations where he would definitely have been wearing a hat - I get that the face of Richard Armitage is expensive so you don't want to hide it, but HAT PLEASE.
So love that story. The book is excellent so if you have only seen the film give it a go. Not knocking the film - mmmm Richard Armitage. I make the film compulsory viewing when we do the Industrial Revolution for history at school. The kids crack up about the side burns on the men, how people didn't really touch before they were married and so many other things. It is a great story written by an amazing woman Elizabeth Gaskell.
@@somewherenicefarmstay6146 'Mary Barton' is another great book by her. Very revealing about the extreme poverty in Manchester in the 1840's -eg it was cheaper to give a baby/children laudanum (an opium derivative) than feed them... - so needless to say they stopped crying ..and often died of starvation... I did it for 'A' level.. it also talks about the effect of the coming of the railways..
I was laughing way to hard at the invisibility cloak. That debate made my day. Especially because my nerdy ass was like some of them are made from demiguise fur and then I spiraled into wondering if wizards do or do not have magic thread. Thanks guys!! No seriously thanks for the laughs.
@@lady_sir_knight3713 He has a new episode today: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-somLqbtk9Vk.html (I love Last Kingdom DESPITE the inaccuracies 😁)
Nicole! We need a video about circus/ burlesque history please and thank you! As a circus performer who really loves this history nerdiness it would make me so very happy! You all are great :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I nearly spit my coffee out watching this. As a mid 30's woman, I feel ya on the "do your titties hang low?" They've always been more droopy than most and I used to hate it but I've come to accept it now. 🙃 Ah life. Life and gravity.
Oh, Honey, just wait till the mid-50's. Then you learn to love the 1810's stays with a wooden busk. It's like scaffolding with 2 hammocks to keep the girls contained.
Had to come and say we ladies in my fam have been singing THAT SONG for years... we are long tittied gals genetically - my mom actually uses an eggplant emoji to represent hers (haven't told her about the more common interpretation of that particular veg)!
The biggest problem with the invisibility cloak question is... Is it Harry's invisibility cloak or a normal wizarding invisibility cloak? Cause there'd be a difference considering Harry's cloak is the cloak of Death themselves. Would Death's cloak even need repairs? Love how chaotic this video is. Need more of this! XD
This is the reason I love you all: Not only did you do the drunk video with all its petty squabbling, unabashed inappropriateness, and perhaps too frank honesty. But then, as a (presumably) sober editor, you kept all that in... I both fear and really want to see the bloopers you could include at the end of this video.
So funny!! Also I wanna hear the rest of Nicole’s fan burlesque story. 🤣 Also bold of Nicole to be sewing on the Gonzo gloves while under the influence of alcohol! 🤣🍸🥂
It involved us sitting on my couch watching the entire dance because she was trying to tell me about a man's reaction in the front row, but then we reached this awkward moment where she couldn't take the phone from me without making it weird, and I didn't want to be rude and hand it back to her. So I watched her fan dance in a g-string and pasties, going "welp, that happened" 😂
OMG. This was absolutely the content I needed today!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for the much needed gigglesnorts, and here’s hoping sober Sponsor Abby gets her Birch mattress back, soon.
LOL we used to say that at my house too! *Any day ending in Y* 😂 Usually for humour, like child me to my parents: "I need to use the bathroom" My parents: But you can't use the bathroom, it's a day ending in Y. Child me: 😮 But everyday ends with Y!! Oh no!! Parents: laughing their butts off. 😁 (Also, this was before Pokemon, so no Pikachu face 😂)
@@becauseimafan the day ending in Y (well, G because I'm Dutch) bit was a staple in my family too, growing up! Along with other classics like "your left hand is the one where your thumb is on the right' and "is the pope Catholic?"
the cloak is made of demiguise fur in canon and the fur has the same properties of the animal, so you'd need to find a demiguise and spin thread from its fur.
Pedantry incoming! No, Harry's cloak is not demiguise fur, but other (worse) invisibility cloaks are. Demiguise fur loses its powers with age, so it would work in a pinch, but you would have to redo the stitches after a while.
If you watch this without knowing they are historical costume gurus, it sounds like they are immortal beings holding a 200+ grudge that fashion had the nerve to change.
"A titty fell out" Ah yes, as you do. And I feel SO much hotter in historical clothing sometimes. I just finished this self supporting bodice based on a kirtle and I did not know how to act. I wanna try that era you mentioned 1790, tits at tea!
Oh I'm glad to hear someone else is familiar with ariat! I wore their clogs for years until I could no longer get them, easily the most comfortable shoes I've ever had/walked and stood for hours in
Abby sang the song!!! 😂 I thought I was clever one day as a preteen and sang that to my mom and she rolled her eyes, laughed at ME and said “just wait” Damnit mom, you could have warned me and had a little sympathy 🤣
English (England) version: - Do your t**s stand high, Do your t**s hang low, Can you tie'em in a knot, Can you tie'em in a bow, Do you get a funny feeling if you slap'em on the ceiling, Do you get a funny feeling if your t**s hang low?
drunk abby showing off her fashion plate and being like “i like it it’s pretty! my mom found it 🥺” shxhsjd thats so cute i love when drunk ppl are so wholesomely passionate about smth
hi all, so glad you dropped another team-up vid! thanks for all your amazing research and myth-busting, I've learned so much about garment construction AND history. The other day I was watching this show set in 1717*, and there was this neat bit of characterization through costuming that I'd never have noticed without your kickass channels - someone rocks up to party in an entirely purple outfit....in 1717....and my jaw dropped when I remembered aniline dyes weren't invented until 100 years+ later. I'm not sure how accurate the shade is to the period, but it's not mauve and never would've been allowed under the sumptuary laws of a few centuries prior, which actually deepens a lot of the show's themes. all in all, it was a fun scene in a fun show made even more delightful for having learned so much about fashion history through your wonderful channels. thank you for sharing your knowledge! *Our Flag Means Death, s1ep5 if you're interested. it's a really fun show, in any case.
Me again! Y’know, I learned ‘Do your ears hang low?’ in the Brownies (aged 8) and it was yeeeears before I realised that wouldn’t have been the..umm.. original body part in the song 😝
Y’all I absolutely NEEDED the giggles today. So thank you very much. Your friendship is so goals, and it makes me happy 🥺💕 (also drunk fashion history needs to happen more often dang it)
Oh, mah, gooooooodneess. I kind of want to see this be an annual thing, and Drunk Historical Fashion needs to be a search term. It's even fun when there's a non-drinker trying to keep up with the conversation while sober.🤪
Being of a certain state of mind (I feel cranky right now), beyond the late Princess Diana's famous black dress, I would say any portrait of any Queen wearing a formal gown was a revenge dress. Most historical matches were between two people not exactly enamored with each other. And the best revenge is not only dressing well, but billing the SO for the outfit, jewels and shoes.
I live for this iconic Trio! This was such a fun sequel to the Valentine’s Day Card Reaction and recreate that Racetrack Photo and I hope we see more productive and amazing chaos 🔥
You three are soo awwdorable and funny. If I need cheering up or just plain distraction from the chaos of the world I watch one or more of your videos. You three make a wonderful comedy trio the likes off which no one has ever really seen. Thank you for sharing with all of us. We need your knowledge and humour.
10/10 best video. This was great! You all sound like me and my doctoral program friends when we get together. I needed this laugh. Thank you for always bringing joy to this history student's life. You all are gems!
"It would be the worst of the worst of steampunk" I litteraly screamed of laughed SO HARD and almost spilled my food out of my mouth. (You're welcome for the details) I need to make a meme out of it. THE BURN ! XD
"Ask me how I know" in response to the sleeves. That's an elder millennial who lived through some shit right there 😂😂😂 Mother, why did you put me in an Easter dress with Spanx and shoulder pads and... WHY ? If anyone asks why I like 18th century clothes it's because I'll never have to wear poly satin and lace ever again. 😂😂
I am going to miss watching you three collaborate and be weird together like this. I mean, I’m sure it will still happen but it won’t be as frequent. You three are so fun to watch and learn from, I love it.
Made it allllll the way through-enjoying ofc-but then it was Abby's jingle at the end that got me to LOL and expand the browser to hit like. 😍😂 "Can you tie em in a knot, can you tie em in a bow" bahahaha
Love you guys! Nichole’s unicorn 🦄 hair and rant about getting out of the dress amazing 🤩!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Abby you are a gem…. That song at the end 🤣🤣🤣 im dying 🤣🤣🤣
Recently starting bingeing both your and Nicole’s videos after rediscovering you both with the Safiya collaboration… I had subbed to this channel a few years ago when I started sewing again along with Bernadette’s channel and then I fell into having to learn to create my own soap and so fell down that rabbit hole for a few months/years. I absolutely love watching the semi-drunk stitching of the gonzo gloves which also gives me a time frame for the filming of this video and a need for more of these videos!
Oh my gracious this was an absolute riot!! Can this be a regular series? I need this as a regular series, even if it's just over zoom. Y'all are too hilarious together.
Oh my gosh, I would watch hours of this! I'm usually the person going on rants about fashion and fashion history while my friends' eyes glaze over, and it's so good to see others doing the same - with friends to rant with! When drunk, my rants are usually about human anatomy and sometimes natural science in general. I'm not popular at parties.
My answer for the invisibility cloak question: Doesn't matter what kind- but you have to do any sewing and mending from the inside because the invisibility cloak renders whatever is under/inside of it invisible. Make sure your stitch on the outside is miniscule. Alternatively, you could pull some of the warp or weft threads from the hem and use those!
I Love(!!!!!!) that Abby said she wanted Ruffs to come back into style. I just finished with a collar/ruff for what will be a victorian/edwardian inspired blouse, to go with my denim and blue paisley skirt! YES YES YES!!! lets bring back real fashion!!!!
Chrissy: Men. Men. Can we introduce you to the marvel that is the skirt? As a guy wearing masculine-cut clothings and skirts: YES! THIS! There *are* skirts with masc-coded cut and fabric, and people giving you the stink eye is solely dependant on your confidence (also, for most people they'll get used to it in like 72h as long as it is not revealing. We're heavily underestimating the human mind's ability to adapt to a new norm.)
Saw a mallard duck with a green head yesterday and actually thought that same thought. The color!!! No wonder people wanted to use the feathers, there is almost a multi chrome reflection. Mesmerizing!!!!
Watching this 11/6/2023 41 yrs old lol and the universe sent this video to me while drink red wine and y'all... Dude 😎 I'm loving every bit, and Nicole thanks for your shared work, I'm currently working on a 'trench' that I'm thrilled with. Salute' ladies
I think the oldest extant clothing might be woolen clothes from the Scythians (Russia), which is, I think 4000-6000 years old becuase they buried people in the perma-frost in summer (half perma frost?) so it was preserved. The British Museum had an exhibition on them. I loved the childs fur snow suit that had sealed hands and feet and a really wide neck so you shovel the child in from the top, draw the drawstrings, and then their hands and feet couldn't get wet and cold. And the Peru exhibition (at the British museum) had beautifully preserved textiles as it's so dry there. Also the bandages on Egyption mummies is beautifully preserved, but that's not clothing.
The amount I just "yaaaaassss'ed" through the whole section about the 1790's being just the best because I am so freaking here for the 1790's!! It's so my jam and I just fully lean into the soft and rounded silhouette as a plus size costumer because my body is already soft and rounded and I can celebrate that ☺️
