I loved this vid. You know Hemingway was always drunk when he wrote. Some of the greatest philosophers, poets, painters just plain artists were under some sort of influence when they contemplated and shared their most thought provoking work. But, Ciara, I'm flying out to Dublin next week and we are going drinking. (Company card so no limit) There is no way, BUT NO WAY that you can be so lucid after the previous shoot. Love you all, keep up the great work and glad to see you all happily getting along. Stay safe y'all. GO CANES!

Gotta side with Dermot at the end there. If there's one thing you know at 40 that you didn't know at 25, it's that you still don't know anything. There's NEVER gonna be that moment where you have some epiphany and life sorts itself out for you. I wish there was a magic number you could age to and get handed some Matrix pill with The Answers in it, but that ain't life.

I like Dermot but I still was not expecting such a profound response. I'm sorry but if you are all that you will ever become as a person come 25 then that is a terrible thing! That is not completion, that is stagnation. People are always developing. If you feel you are becoming the person you are meant to be then keep going, don't stop!

As someone who is in their mid 40's and old enough to be some of the Tryer's mama, 😭😄 I'm here to say that life throws you many a curveball. Some of those curveballs are so profound it changes you. Sometimes for the better other times for the worse. Trust me when I say when you're in your 40's you're definitely not who you were in 30's let alone your 20's. 😊

You limit yourself if you think you can't possibly grow or change any more after hitting some arbitrary age line. I'm 42 now and I'm a completely different person than at 25 or even 35. My life goals changed. My career goals changed. My attitudes, opinions, and views on things have shifted as I've lived and experienced. And I expect by the time I'm 52 I'll have learned a great deal more.

47 here. When I was younger some people said I think like an old man. I took it as a complement. Now, I realize they were partly right but really I think I was just a bit less naive about some things, but utterly clueless about things I hadn't experienced yet. Biggest change is probably going from knowing I was unstoppable if I stayed alive, to knowing I can be unstoppable but I have to know how to counter every attempt to stop me.

My answer is the same for every one of these questions. Life is subjective. You're always learning and growing. While some things stay the same everything you think you know at any time is in a constant state of change. You'll never know from day to day what to expect and you have to accept that. Live life every day as if it's you're last because one day it will be.

Dermot and Èadaoin..., you've got me blubbering like a toddler... such a beautiful exchange of responses, ideas, and thoughts. One song kept playing incessantly in my mind while watching this... "What the World Needs Now Is Love" Song by Jackie DeShannon The Literal state of the world today could use a moment to view this episode and really take inventory of what really matters. I'm so disgusted with humanities effort to destroy itself. We need to find the one thing about ourselves that make us happy and then nurture it. This will allow us to love ourselves and that love will allow us to love one another. It's hard, but I'm still hopeful that enough people (around the world), can find their "love" and those people can spread that love to the rest of humanity and hopefully we can change the current momentum the opposite direction! "What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love, No not just for some but for everyone...."

Shoutout to John for challenging the 'choose to be happy' narrative. It's like he said, a lot of people, (myself included,) don't always get the chance to choose how their lives start or turn out, and what sort of environment they get to grow up in. We don't NOT choose to be happy, we have just been dealt some awful cards in life that cause us to deal with feelings and thoughts that are different from those around us, and often these feelings and thoughts are things that we can't always control.

Absolutely! Who I was in my 20's is totally different from who I was in my 30's and who I am now in my 40's. Your priorities change as your life experiences change. With a shift in priorities comes a change within yourself. I'm sure I'll be more different in another 10-20 years but that's how you continue to grow as a person. Btw: We will over look the fact that this post was made after using a little herb for pain management.

What Dermot said about that last one actually hit me. I wasn't a good person when I was 25. I was angry, I was still drinking what I'd been fed as a child, and I hadn't grown into myself as an adult, yet (even with two kids of my own, by that point). 28 year old me learned a lot because my friend group expanded to people I hadn't known, before. They introduced me to life outside of the bubble I'd always known and I was forced to swallow some difficult truths about myself and how I was raised (and who raised me). It took me to 32 to seek help for my mental health, and I didn't figure out what I wanted to be when I "Grew Up" until I was 35. I look back at 20 and 25 year old me and I don't really like the person I was, then.

So Eadaoin, you want one piece of advise from someone older (and probably older than Dermot), here ya go. Never avoid the pain (that isn't life-threatening, etc.), manage/handle it. Pain makes us grow. Be it your legs aching when you physically grow in your youth, to going through heartache in love, to having to study for a test instead of partying with your friends, to going through that interview you are dreading, to being scared shitless giving that presentation because you are afraid of public speaking...pain is the method of making you grow physically, mentally and emotionally. I find that there are many that just want things "given" to them and they might get it, but they will never appreciate it as much as something earned because you didn't have to "work" for it and thus, go through the pain. John's a lucky guy...make him earn it (i.e. don't give him all the answers to "you", let him figure it out...pain!) and keep up the great work y'all!!!

The long part between Dermot and Eadaoin was brilliant. I've had at least 8, if not more, drunken conversations at bars just like that. It just shows that behind the jokes and carrying on, there are real people sharing a part of themselves with us. I for one thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing this to us. At 25, I was getting to know myself, to know who I was. I was most "me" during my 20s. But during my 30s and 40s, it became increasingly exhausting to defend myself against the toxic sociopathic culture of the US. It's eroded me away, before I even realized it was happening. Now at 51, I'm trying to remember what I've lost. As you learn to you are, protect what you've learned against erosion by external forces. When you discover who you are, fight to keep it.

That statement was so Irish, it launched nine salmon to swim down nine different rivers and meet under nine hazel trees. Once there, they eat themselves silly on the nuts and get caught by nine fishermen and cooked for dinner. And the nine families fed by the salmon become smarter for the eating of it. But they all still have the well of sadness inside them.
