I first played "State of Decay 2" when it came out, and was unimpressed. I then came back to it because of Game Pass Quests. I just had to kill a few 'zombies', but ended up playing for hours. I then played solo for many hours and have most of the achievements available to that play style. Totally unexpected. Really fun game.
EA Pro or whatever their membership is called is bundled with the ultimate version of gamepass. So they have a working relationship with EA in some ways. Makes sense why EA will debut games at a Microsoft showcase
Doesn’t stop the fact that PlayStation has been growing and Xbox sold less than 750k units last QUARTER. Xbox is the new Sega, a joke. All the games you saw will fail on gamepass and come to PlayStation eventually😂❤
If I could give you guys 2 thumbs up I would....not for the showcase....just because you mentioned Action Quake 2 (made me fail out of college the first go) and Action Half-life (1hp grenade out, pin pulled suicide charge!). Those were the days.
What does "forgiven" mean in this context? What is the correct reaction supposed to be? I'm furious that Xbox closed Tango especially, but if you care about the actual people and not simply the studio logos and IP then it's worth noting that both SIE and Xbox laid off 8% of their workforces this year. That amounts to more people for Xbox because they're far bigger in overall headcount, but SIE have been doing a hell of a lot better business than Xbox the last several years too. The purpose of pointing this out is that the shitty capitalist decision-making leading to these job losses is touching the entire industry, right up to the most successful companies. So when people say things like "all is forgiven?!?!", I'm not clear what my reaction is supposed to be. If we are meant to say "fuck them" and swear off their creative output because they're a highly profitable company laying people off, then we better start a list. Microsoft spent a month catching shit for the layoffs before this, and I hope Spencer et al. face more hard questions about it in the future. I also think it's completely fine to acknowledge when a great showcase of games is nonetheless a great showcase of games.
Looking at this showcase it's hard not to wonder what the hell is going on at Playstation. I guess part of it is that Xbox just owns more studies now, due to them acquiring everything these past few years. Also they announce a lot that's a year or more away. While PlayStation waits until theres less than a year until release.
It’s also about game verity. Xbox has always liked having different types of games on their console, with different scopes as well. PlayStation has pivoted more toward cinematic “film-like” style narratives, and those take great ideas and a lot of time.
I mean what’s going on at PlayStation is they’ve been putting out bangers for years and now they have a year with nothing while the devs work. While Xbox devs have been working for years and the bangers are about to drop this year and next year, it seems.
Before the ABK purchase, Xbox and Sony had the same amount of studios and ABK only showed 3 games, none of which are exclusive to Xbox. Xbox Game Studios actually flexed in this showcase for 2024 and 2025 and presumably 2026. Sony is just in a sorry ass state right now.
So I was gifted a Series X back in February and I was looking forward to this showcase. I gotta say, people are really making this out to be so much better than it actually was, but it wasn’t bad either. A lot of this stuff we already knew about so not a lot really surprising. I’m looking forward to playing Doom, Expedition 33 was genuinely a surprise to me. I skipped the XB1 era but I owned a couple of 360s back in the day so I grew up with Gears of War and I’m genuinely excited for E-Day. I haven’t played a State of Decay game so I’m keeping an open mind for SoD 3. Here’s what I did not like so much. Perfect Dark didn’t really show real gameplay, it was all very scripted, perhaps it’s still a ways out of the rumors of development hell are real. Indiana Jones looks so damn uninspired and soulless. I’m with Lawrence here, Machine Games is so much better than that. Nothing in that trailer looked like “must play” first party title material. And then Fable… still haven’t seen what the hell the game is. Snippets of “gameplay” without UI is not gameplay. Avowed, I’m cautious optimistic only because it’s Obsidian so I’m hoping it’s good. And then the showcase was filled with a bunch of 3rd party stuff that’ll be on other platforms as well. Idk, I guess I’m not trying to downplay it, it was a fun watch but I guess as a newer, or returning, gamer to Xbox I didn’t really think too much of it. Until the games are out in the wild and we can play them that’s my opinion. Judging from previous years and the previous generation it’s mostly been all show, no go on a lot of the big games for Xbox. Ah I did forget to mention Stalker 2 earlier. I’m genuinely excited for that.
@@Macintosh1001 yo, it’s just weird RU-vid thing. It’s behind in views when the vid is that new. There were probably hundreds of people watching it when I was.
Video game titles are absolute trash these days. Flintlock: Seige of souls and bones; the age of descent into Zerkonia Ghouls of bastion: awaken the constitution of bellatrix
