Great vid loved it thanks! Im looking to do a very similar wall but in red sandstone. what would you charge per m2? I was going to see what the ground looks like but my footings i was thinking 400mm of concreat. the wall will be 1.5m high what do you think?
I’d charge a day rate for a job like this as there’s a lot to factor in and a lot that can take you longer than you expected. Concrete footing is a must for me if your using a block centre. If it’s double sided the 400mm won’t be enough though.
@@DryStoneTom Thanks for answering, what would you think is a more reasonable depth for the concrete? About 20 m away from where im building this wall I put in a pier to support a roof of a house and the building inspector made me go down about 1.8m.

Thanks for watching! I leave the walls as I love the old look of the stone but I’ve had some clients request it cleaning after in the past. For me I like the history of the stone as it is. I’m sure you will find some of my other videos interesting too. 😊⚒

@@DryStoneTom I found something similar at my local hardware store when i searched for it now. Looking back it seems very logical that a product like this exists. A tip for another video is what and how you mix your mortar for work like this. My dad and me have done some work on dry stone walls with a bit of mortar as fill and a bit of adhesion. The old man was in charge of the mortar, but im not sure we have the correct mix or product. It seems a lot of our mortar has lost adhesion with the stone now after a couple of years.
