At this moment this is my no-1 most anicipated non released ship. I flew a Baluga back in Elite and I'm going to be that guy who does a corny "This is your captain speaking" speech every time I take off.
Fr, I don’t know what’s taking them so long to get out the whole people transport thing. Regardless I’m dropping the 400 or so bucks the moment this thing is flyable
Same, although I dropped back to the Dolphin (and picked up a Cutter) due to the overheating that the Baluga did at the time. Passenger gameplay is what I'm looking forward to the most. If only CIG would remember it's supposed to be a thing and get on it. 🤣
It isn't my first pick for most anticipated, but it IS in the top 3. Galaxy is my #2. Orion is my #1. That being said . . . I thought everyone did the "Captain take off briefing" speech. I love Crusader ships and own at least 1 of all of them.
What an interesting game loop that would make. Flying passengers (maybe players, maybe AI) all over the place. The pressure of knowing you are responsible for their safety, etc. Keeping a tight schedule. And making sure there are snacks and drinks available. Can't wait to see this in game.
This is probably one of the ships i'm looking forward to the most. But more than the ship, i'm mostly curious about how the missions for carrying NPC groups will turn out. It would be nice if they implement some performance mechanics so that you have to provide both a fast and smooth flight for your passengers.
i do really love this thing, and am super excited to see how they'll introduce passenger gameplay. I'm hoping for a gameplay loop akin to a flight simulator, where the difficulty comes from managing and flying the ship
The idea that the game has progressed where NPCs are able to move about and there is a demand for civilian transport would be a dream come true. One day, Soon(tm)
I saw the Starliner and clicked immediately; I hope CIG doesn't mess with the outline too much *cough* BMM *cough*, something about it speaks to me. That said you have to admire a ship design that obstructs a rotor by placing a wing directly over it, and which places two wings in close proximity without them actually touching at the extremity - in real life there would be a lot of turbulence through the gap between them and they would likely end up colliding with each other until they broke up (also looking at you 300 series).
Sorry, but I think the look of this one is almost certainly going to change. It doesn't match the design language that has been established for Crusader by later releases at all. Not the Starliner's fault, they didn't *have* a design language when it was concepted. But if anything, it looks more like a MISC ship as is. Add in the fact that it has almost certainly grown, and I think a lot is going to be different next time we see an update on it
@@comicmonikerOne can hope CIG create a new manufacturer and move it there, maybe change the model name. Then they could retain the look and create a new line-up based on it (i.e. a new revenue opportunity). While they're at it they could split the Reclaimer from Aegis for the same reasons :D Mirai set a precedent for them to retain the look and feel of ships that now don't fit in while formalising brand identity. And it would be a shame if CIG blandified interesting-looking older ships just because they don't fit new molds.
I remember when this was the only ship featured under Crusader Industries... now they have half the meta in cargo and heavy fighters. I don't expect this ship to be in the game anytime soon and I fully expect them to abandon it.
I think this is the ultimate ship for people who just want chill gameplay. The liner variant, that is. With that said, I've been trying to figure a way to have a scheduled route throughout Stanton on an hourly basis, say, stopping at each station but also incorporating a run groundside and back. Kinda difficult to figure out one that would work hourly.

I love the design of this ship. Although me and my org primarily do combat related gameplay I'd still love to have one of these ships refitted for bombing or vehicle transport
I'm looking forward to a full cargo variant of it, as I read they plan to make it modular. Either way, will probably get it because I love the look of it!
@@Farrister Same, but who knows, maybe in 5, 7, 10 years. I'd assume it would take at least a year once it's actually got a release date announced too.
It's really difficult to foresee where/when this ship will be released at this point. There are SO many issues, and even if we get seamless server meshing how will we possibly be able to transport NPCs... I just don't see it working at all. I do however see us be able to fly multiple players across galaxies, or as you mentioned, a possible military support role. This is especially true if the game allows us to join the game into other players ships. You start the game... your ship is in ArcCorp but your character is in NB. The game shows you a public transport (Genesis Starliner for example) is leaving NB so you select "Spawn on ship (1000aUEC)" and now you're a passenger!
Main thing that interests me about the genesis is if they will release npc piloted ships that can move players and npcs around. Spaceports all have an area for boarding of what looks a passenger plane system. Didnt know there were some potential military variants though, piqued my interest
My favourite SC concept ship and I am really worried CIG will ruin the exterior with a redesign to make it more in line with the newer Crusader ships. Only time will tell, and considering its gameplay depends on NPCs to function, we'll be waiting quite a while for this one.
I want to own one of these and charge passengers $25 aUEC for bottles of water and $100 aUEC for extra bags in the cargo space, and then make sure they're not allowed to bring more than a teacup of water on board with them and that there's no in-cabin storage for bags at all. I'll also charge them for in-flight entertainment and then make announcements for the entire trip so they can never relax and enjoy it. Make sure the seats are extremely small and uncomfortable too so I can do this to more people at once.
The starliner was a bit of a mistake I think. Why would you have this and the starlifer frames in the same company? They're comparable in size, so make a variant of the c2 for passengers, or a starliner for cargo etc. I'd like to see it go to misc in the end, as the tube design seems to fit it, and i don't know if the hulls would actually be able to cover the passenger role even with special cargo pods. It could also allow for industrial or science variants that i think would help seperate it from the military of crusader, so it feels like an individual.
I don't know, I can kinda see the difference. Sure you might use a seated variant of the C2 for military troop transport, but for ordinary passengers, it wouldn't be the most comfortable experience.
@RobertP-zk8vh Yes it can; there are seats for 20, standing room on the lower deck for another dozen, and the rest can fit on the upper deck. Plus it has two manned turrets, two remote turrets, and two manned guns on the doors.
@aceHero Exterior the similiar? sure, exactly the same? don't think so, everything just scaled up? no, that is definitely not possible unless they straight up do not intend to deliver what was promised in the concept, this has to have some sort of major makeover like the merchantman has, the space and size alone make it impossible, do you think with how scaling is currently in star citizen you can fit that many people inside an 85m long ship among other things, and when they scale this thing up dramatically like the merchantman, they can't just stretch everything up, hell they did not even plan out the interior beyond few images, some changes has to be made but staying true to the original design language is possible. Also, you can speak for yourself, that is your freedom, but do not speak for other people, I for one do not mind them updating this thing as long as it looks good and does not stray away from the feel of the concept.
@@Farrister I been dreaming about transporting NPC accross the universe when Origin 400 came out. not to mention orbital bombarment missions, planetary exploration missions when the first exploration class ship was available. But so far none of my dreame has come true except the part of playability.
Imagine when AI and or players can use these as planetary transport and outlaw players can catch these in deep space with a Mantis and rob everyone at gun point/threat of getting blown up.
I am a drake fan mostly. This is one of only a couple vehicles that would brake that mold for me. If I knew 100% that my backing would get this ship in the game within a year I would buy it now. Sadly there's a reason I like drake and I'm am not by any means a piret just like it cheap lol.
This would be a nice ship to fly and make money with in a relaxed manner. But knowing CIG they'll just have to stuff in combat in some form. Oh well, can't have the ship until NPCs can navigate more than their local area.
yea and for the price its a bit small to, though keep in mind this ships concept is almost 10 years old. i would guess it would increase in size by about 20% or so
