How to Fix a Dryer That Has No Heat. Complete Instructions on how to find and fix no heat problems in a dryer. This is a common problem and a pretty simple and straight forward diagnosis and repair to make on a standard Whirlpool-style dryers, that cause it not to heat and dry your clothes. There are not many parts in dryers and the repair should be straight forward.
If you're getting heat but things are still damp, you may have air flow issues in the dryer or in the venting and I will show you how to do that in this video.
You will also learn ways to make your dryer more efficient and how to properly attach and place the vent hose for the dryer's best performance.

I was able to diagnose the problem on my Maytag dryer, the little white fuse on the blower. Thank you!
@Fresh-tw7ev

Here’s a real test for all you diagnostic guys out there. I have a basic Maytag electric dryer less than 5 years old that keeps blowing the fuse at the fusebox. The dryer is getting power and it lights off just fine and gets hot. It runs for approx 10-15 mins then blows the breaker. I have watched approx 12 videos including this one on how to diagnose the various switches, thermistor, thermostat and parts inside the back service panel. I have used the multimeter to test all those parts and I am getting continuity on everything. What could be causing this thing to blow the breaker???
@Fresh-tw7ev
@Fresh-tw7ev 15 дней назад
Update: the wire-connection screws inside the plug were loose. I turned off the breaker and opened the box and tightened down the screws onto the 240V wires. Fixed.

** What you wanna do is get a wire crimper and stick the 2 ends inside it and crimp them inside together. Dont solder, it will never work. I repaired a broken element just like this about 3 years ago and it just went out again today which is why im back to lookong for that video about the crimper. This wasnt it. Keep looking you'll find the better video that shows you how to repair without replacing

This was AWESOME! I had already fixed the tumbler (wasn't moving- it was a belt issue). When I opened up the back to do a diagnosis found that it was filled with lint! Turns out I just needed to vacuum it and clean off the terminals. Luckily my house didn't catch on fire! LOL. But this is GREAT because now I know how to diagnose issues in the future, and will do better maintenance on the dryer from here on out.

This is very helpful, thank you. A couple questions: 1. If it's only the heating element that tests bad and the thermostat is fine, do I need to order and use a new thermostat, or can I use the old one that's fine? 2. There only seems to be a single wire to the heating element, and I don't see an unconnected wire anywhere. Is that a problem? Is the unconnected terminal (toward the front of the machine) secretly grounded somehow?
@tommygunn7745

1)At 4:08- to 4:11 I cant see where you are placing your blk lead when testing ohms. 2)at 4:23 you say to put the 2 leads to the two connections,but I can only see your black probe on the red connection for the heating elements. Problem is my shroud covering the heating coils doesnt appear removable. No screws. Im sure its removable,but dont need it until I get that far testing other stuff. My dryer is the same basic configuration except the wiring has been changed like a following year upgrade change)slightly enough to be confusing to me since Im unfamiliar with electrical testing at this basic level. It appears my wiring and some of the connections have been a different next newer model and occasionally the electrical connections solonoids etc are changed enough to be confusing in the instructions given at the 3 or four examples Ive seen. Im going to try and find my exact model/year dryer on youtube to eliminate these issues. The ID# is WGD510DVQO I hope that will locate it. If not maybe i can google for a back of dryer diagram

Hello, the heating eliminate went out so we bought a kit, but once we put everything back together it gets hot enough it blows the thermal fuse, I changed out all the Thermal Cutout Fuse, High Limit thermostat, and the Cycling thermostat. the vents are clear out side and inside the dryer vent is too, I never used the L250-80F fuse not sure if it suppose to go on top where the Thermal Cutout fuse goes are what. I have the 309F Thermal Fuse Cutout Up top on the heating eliminate. I have the High Limit going to the Heating Elements Terminals. and i have the L155-25f fuse going to the Cycling Thermostat.

Could be a number of different things. Try a different setting on your timer for drying and see if that fixes it. Could be a thermostat going bad or maybe A loose connection… Etc. also cleaning the ductwork in the dryer and ductwork going outside May help but probably not your problem.

Thank You For Your Video, Sir. It Really Came In Handy. My High Heat Thermostat Was The Issue. I Replaced It With A New One And It Heats Better Than Before. Should I Still Change Out The Bottom Thermostat Even Though That One Wasn't The Issue? I'm Asking Because You Mentioned It In Your Video. The Bottom Thermostat Read "0.00" On The Multimeter While The High Heat Thermostat Didn't Even Give A Response. Also, The Thermostat Just Under The Fuse Read At "7.07" And The Fuse And Heating Element Both Read "0.00."

I followed everything you recommended today for my dryer. And before I put the back on I turned it on to make sure the dryer element was indeed heating and it was. So I replaced all of the parts that you replaced in this video. We have done several things and trying to get our dryer to work properly. We have changed out the 220 outlet. We have changed out the breaker. We have cleaned out any and all lint from the back of the dryer to the exit of the house. The dryer only partially dries clothes on the timed cycle. And on the sensed cycle it only tumbles for a while and stops. One cycle. Never fully dries a load of clothes cuz sometimes it takes three cycles. Any advice?

Checked Door switch = super loose & not connecting, so got new door switch. Fixed the problem of dryer not turning back on. Then, the dryer isn't drying the clothes. It does heat up, but doesn't completely dry the clothes. Going to check the heating elements you so kindly explained here & will try to fix the issue. Thanks so much! 👍 I have an old Frigidaire dryer with the circular coil element. I recently replaced the ball hitch & bracket along with the belt to eliminate squeaking. Everything was fine- for a day. Now it turns but no heat. So far I checked to make sure I have 240 volts. Checked continuity on heating coil Thermal fuse and thermostat. All seem to be okay. My wife looked online and was convinced it’s the thermal fuse so I ordered a replacement and put it in. Still no heat. Then to test I pulled the drum out checked connections and turned it on. Every time I turn it on there is a distinct “pop” sound. No sparks, smoke or smell- just the little pop. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much. You saved me a repairman bill. My son and I fixed our dryer with the help of your video. You had great camera angles that made it easy to see and you went over every step. As a woman in retirement years I'm pretty proud that I now know how to use an Ohm Meter!

This was an excellent video. So well done. My 24 year old dryer isn't heating but will run. Will do all the tests just like you showed. Thanks for taking the time to film this and showing exactly what to do.
