Hey man! Wanted to let you know that this totally worked. I’m so happy to have it fixed. I’ve been diy-ing/remodeling my house for a couple years now and just finished the laundry portion of the house. I installed the machines that I purchased over a year ago, and was so excited to finally start using them. Did a couple loads and the dryer stopped heating. So stumped and disappointed. Then I found your video and thought I’d give it a try. Totally worked. Thank you again 👍🏼

I fixed my dryer tonight for part cost when the repair place quoted me over $400! It wasn't quite a smooth going as your video, there were some plastic clips behind the control panel that didn't want to let go and the top was really hard to push back. Also had to open it up again after door error came on but discovered that I forgot to connect one wire connection. I'm just a wee little lady but I did it and now have a working dryer again thanks to you!! Sending some thank$ your way.

Seth, I don't normally comment on RU-vid videos but I have to thank you for publishing this video. My dryer's heating element went out last Sunday. Luckily it was on our last load of laundry so we didn't have to spend too many quarters at the laundromat. While my wife and I sat in the laundromat waiting for said load of laundry to dry, I was researching how to replace the heating element to see if it's something I could do myself, quickly and easily. You're video was the first one I found and it was a great help! I have to thank you for making it short and succinct. AND, an even bigger thanks for including the link to the replacement part. I was dreading having to find the right one. I ordered it while still at the laundromat. It arrived that following Wednesday and I got this repair done in about an hour (the majority of that time was spent cleaning out the lint from inside the dryer). You saved me, only God knows, so much time trying to figure this out myself and I've very grateful to you for that. So, thank you very much! God Bless!

Nicely done. Fix-it yourself is a skill that is disappearing and well worth learning, thank you for sharing this. Save that nichrome wire from the heating element, you can use it to make a hot-wire cutter for foam-board & Styrofoam to custom cut odd shapes when insulating the tiny house or the micro-hydro, or make an ABS black pipe warmer to make it easier to insert/remove the barbed fittings that's less risky than a blow-torch, a heating bed for sheet plastic if you ever want to make a simple vacuuformer, or even just hang on to it to snip as-needed lengths to use for twist ties that can survive high temperature conditions like your "will it burn" videos, or making a slow cook accessory for your outdoor gas grill. BTW, If you are doing an appliance repair video, does that mean I have to do a ram-pump video? LOL

Have I mentioned how much this single mom loves RU-vid tutorials? Only every single time I use one to save my butt. Thank you so much, I went all summer without a dryer but I figured I would save on electricity by hanging things out on the line but winter is now coming and it's very cold and the only thing my clothes are going to do outside on the line, is freeze. I went to Lincoln and bought your part, they sent me to an upgraded part but it worked just fine. The only problem I had, was in the beginning of the video my top would not slide backwards. Apparently mine has clips and it pops straight up. I should have made a video. It would have been very comical, me trying to slide that top off. I also didn't have mine up in the are and I had a very hard time sliding the part into place. So I pulled it farther away from the wall and leaned it backwards and I had it where it needed to be in no time, in fact it was so easy I wasted 15 minutes of struggling while I was laying on the floor. Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much for this tutorial.

You didn't consider a middle ground approach, like calling an appliance service company? It would probably have cost $300 rather than $100 for the part, but that's still less than a new dryer ($800-$1500). P.S. Dryer technology hasn't changed in the last 50 years, so your new one may have cute beeps and WiFi, but the motor, belt, element and thermostat is still the same as the one you disposed.

Mine works like a charm. Great instructions. Only thing I would add. On the reinstall put the heater cage in first. Then mount the stand. The ever so slightly bigger screws go on the back side. The ever so thinner then go on the front. After the stand is mounted. It will take some work to fit the cage into the back. It will eventually fit int!o the slot on the stand. This is the hardest part of the entire reassembly. But great video. Thank you!

Was this a gradual loss of heat? Mine seemed to just stop heating all of a sudden. Trying to figure out what the issues are prior to replacing the element. Dried a load fine and then the next load no heat.

It's very possible you have a total severing of the heating coil. This fix should do you. But you can open the machine and check the coil before you order a replacement.

@@LandtoHouse Ok. I’ll mess around with it this weekend and leave an update. It definitely was sudden. Had no issues prior. Wow.

@@LandtoHouse Update: It was the coil. Took apart today. I’m going to order whole element like you did. Thanks man! Great video. No telling what someone would have tried to charge me for this.

At the risk of sounding stupid, is my dryer, supposed to get very hot on the side that the heating element is on?
@LandtoHouse

It can. That element is a coil of wire that heats up very hot.
