This video, along with a couple others, helped me fix a dryer for $12 myself, instead of who knows how many hundreds. Really sorry to hear of his passing - hope his family knows that he's still helping people every day.

Bill, thank you so much for providing an easy to understand, step-by-step video! Today, my son and I changed the belt on our Dryer within and hour and a half. What an accomplishment for both of us! Like another poster, we did struggle with the belt tightening. When my son tried to put the belt on, he didn't pull hard enough and thought at first, oh no! the belt is the wrong size because it did not tighten up. There was a very depressing moment. Then I helped him by holding up the "wheel," while my son wrapped belt around other wheel and that did the trick. We plugged in the dryer and held our breath. All good!!! Thanks again!

This video *really* helped my Uncle and I fix a Kenmore dryer that is the exact same. We referenced this video multiple times not only for easier disassembly but also for your excellent camera work *inside* the dryer. It's such a small hole to work through. That video footage of inside the dryer was essential in us doing this job. This is the second time we've been in this dryer. The heating element went on it a couple of years back and we replaced that. If you're able, doing it yourself really saves tonnes of money. We've always been a do it yourself family. My Grandfather was a farmer so that's where that comes from I think. Anyway, thanks a million! I'm sure I'll find more of your videos useful in the future. 👍

Wasn't a broken belt for me, it was a broken idler pulley WHEEL. After watching your video I could see what it was supposed to look like since my wheel was missing. Wondered why I had so much slack in my belt...HA! Anyway I subscribed to your channel since your video did actually assist me in figuring out what my problem was. And I will add that your videos are actually very well done, straight to the point and very straight forward. Thank you!

Bill thanks so much for putting this video together, I got it done in under an hour (your dryer was clean, mine was dirty and the whole area needed a good vacuum). Thanks so much, Bill! This video, and the one about diagnosing the noises helped me fix my dryer. One of the rollers wouldn't spin which wore down the metal in the pulley wheel and snapped the belt. I didn't have the correct angle to get in the back hole with my right hand, and definitely not enough space for two hands. And I didn't have enough strength for pushing with my left hand to thread the belt the way you showed. But I thought through it. I looped the belt under the motor from the right side and under to the left side of the pulley. Then, with my left hand, I lifted the pulley all the way up with my last two fingers, grabbed the belt to the right of the motor with my thumb, and squeezed (and grunted) until I got it slipped around the left side of the pulley wheel! Same result, but I looped around the motor and then the pulley rather than the pulley and then the motor like you did.

This video is awesome. It helped me fix my dryer when the belt broke. One thing, though -- the idler pulley spring on my unit was insanely stiff and I couldn't get the belt over the drive wheel. So I took the spring out -- its super easy to remove -- and stretched it with a set of pliers in each hand. That gave me the extra stretch to get the belt on.

Thanks a million for making this simple, easy to follow video. Thought I had a broken belt when our drum stopped spinning but it was still there and tight. Decided to look inside and that black metal clip had fallen off causing the motor to slip out of place and shift a few inches to the left. Tucked it back in place , secured it with the clip and dryer worked again !

Bill, thank you very much for the well done video. I first saw your one about "Samsung Dryer Won't Start or Spin - Troubleshooting and Repair Guide" and was "happy" to see a broken belt when I took off the top panel. Only $8.64 and 24-hours later I a replacement from Amazon. My spouse and I worked together on the project. Removal of everything was very easy. I had a few stumbles on putting things back but nothing major. If I tried it again I would get it done in less than 30-mins. The biggest challenge was getting my gas dryer back on the periscope vent. We also cleared out a great amount of lint build up before the blower motor. We feel much safer now and we suspect that clothes will dry faster as well.

Your clear, step-by-step instructions were easy to follow and gives a lay person the confidence to tackle the repair job, after a quick purchase of the requisite belt from Amazon. The most difficult part was getting the belt on to the two pulleys - nearly sprained my left arm, operating at an awkward angle fighting against the pulley's spring. FWIW, my dryer model is DV448AE/XAA and I used belt part 6602-001655. Thanks again - my wife is super happy :-)

Bill, thanks for the great video's!! There is a spring steel clip that holds the motor in place and apparently if you overload the dryer that clip will bend and finally give way. I bent the clip back to what I thought should be its original shape and like magic the drum started spinning again. Thank you very much for taking the time to put all the diagnostic videos together.

Bill, Thanks for a great how-to video. I had a heating element go out about a year ago and it cost me almost $300 to repair. This turned out to be my belt, and with your video I was able to repair it with a $13 part, after figuring out what was wrong via the video, which I was able to find via a simple Google search. I’d add for others, that using Bill’s video I knew enough to verify that the idler pulley, motor, and two drum rollers were all in good shape and not frozen or otherwise causing the belt to be tight or break. Thanks again. Big help!

Great video! It helped me replace the broken belt on my Samsung DV438 dryer. NOTE to the VIEWERS: Before putting the new belt on, yank the drum out (it is not attached to anything... it is being held in place by the back and front covers). Once the drum is out, vacuum everything and inspect the tension pulley. You may need to replace that as well (it may be the cause for the ripped belt). GREAT VIDEO! THANKS BILL!

thank you so much! Being a single women home owner, this was a big help and saved me several hundreds of dollars! it was $8 fix and easy to do. The only thing I would suggest that somehow to say which belt is needed. I bought one at Lowes that I was told was what I needed and even some of the websites sent me to but it wasn't long enough! The one I bought was 1/4'x 88" what was needed is a 5/16x 92 big difference. I ended up ordering it through Amazon so I had a disassembled dryer for 2 days but once it came in 1 hour and it was running and put back together.

What a superb video. I'm a bit of a Luddite, so I watched the video and wrote down the instructions on a card to have next to me while I worked on the dryer. The instructions in the video are so clear that I didn't even have to come back to the video to complete the repair. Truly an excellent explanation.

Thank you for this great, straightforward, easy to follow process. Fixed my dryer for the cost of the belt - $6.49. Fantastic. I wasn't able to reassemble it quite as fast as you showed, but close ;)

Dude, thank you for these awesome videos, I had no idea how to trouble shoot my Samsung (no codes came up) but by watching these great videos I had a good idea what to look for. Turns out the tension spring came off and damaged the belt. Went to parts store, and about hour later, good to go. Please keep up the great work

It's 10:30 pm on a Thursday night and my wife emerges from the laundry room saying, "Umm, the dryer is not drying the clothes. Can you take a look?" Since I had to work all day Friday and it was the start of a 3 day weekend, I knew I had to diagnose the problem that night and get the part on Friday. Your video saved the day! I dismantled that Samsung dryer and diagnosed a bad heating element. Luckily a local parts supplier - Ideal Appliance Parts in New Orleans, LA had the part in stock! Thank you, sir!

Great video. I'll have to follow it when the new belt arrives next weekend. The old belt is shredded and popped off. I slipped it back on for now because no vendors are open on Sunday around here.

Really appreciate the video! Followed this step by step to replace a broken belt. My dryer doesn’t require to remove the electric board to disconnect the wires to the control panel. Putting the belt on the puller is HARD! Wish they made the hole bigger in the back. If you don’t have the dryer on a pedestal, I suggest you tilt the dryer with some wood. it will be so much easier to access the puller.

This was amazing, I ordered the part and it came with the rollers, my husband asked why I got the other parts. I told him just in case. When he got the drum out the belt wasn't broken, it was the rollers! He replaced them and went ahead and put the new belt on so we wouldn't have to do it again. Thank You so much!

Thanks! I was able to fix my dryer. It turned out that the belt was fine but the idler pulley was broken. This video gave me the knowledge I needed to diagnose the problem.
