I just finished installing a periscope vent on my Maytag Bravo dryer. I followed your video and must say it is a pain in the butt to install, but I am impressed with the results. My utility room is pretty cramped, so I struggled to access the vent. Once I screwed 2-1/8" spacer boards just above the baseboard between 2 studs, I successfully lined up the dryer and hooked up the vent. I was able to use the foil tape and a clamp on the wall side of the vent, but only could use tape and a very large zip tie to fasten the vent to the dryer side. I now have about twice as much air flow outside with this vent with a 9" offset and a slight downward angle from the wall side to the dryer. The periscope was tough to tape up and I bled like a stuck pig when my arm caught the cut edge of the overhang, even though I taped up the ends. Still, it was a good day since I resurrected this dryer from the dead once again. The thermal fuse and heating element had burned out again. I hope that the increased airflow from this solid metal vent will make the dryer work better than the old Jiffy Pop flex pipe did! Thanks for the great video!

I have dried 6 loads of laundry since installing the new vent and the drier is drying the clothes in one cycle instead of 2-3! Small loads and the proper heat setting help the dryer do its best. That vent is working well. Thanks!

On average, how many inches can you save with your periscope?

There is not much difference between where the dryer sat with the flex accordion hose all collapsed and now butted up against the metal vent. My wall vent pipe sticks out about 1-5/8" from the wall. My dryer is now 6-1/2" away from the wall, but is level and solid. My dryer is drying the clothes mostly in one cycle unless I overload it.

Actually, this is one of the worst inventions ever made. Restricts air glow horribly , which leads to poor dryer performance

AFTER SERVICING APPLIANCES FOR OVER 45 YRS, I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! DO YOU???? HOW WELL DO YOU THINK THE AIR MOVES THROUGH THAT RESTRICTIVE BOX? iT WILL CAUSE A MODERN DRYER TO QUIT WORKING DUE TO POOR AIR FLOW!!!

@@kennethmorgan4785Your capital LETTERS don't make you correct! Great, you worked on appliances for 45 years! Congratulations! If that's actually true, then you'd know 85% of dryer repair calls are either due to a clogged vent, or restricted airflow! And no it won't! Funny, we've been installing them since 1992! Vented THOUSANDS of dryers with my periscope! NEVER had a call back due to it blowing the element or anything! NEVER! Oh, and by the way, the periscope moves more CFM than flex as it is larger than a 4" round flex hose! Since it's the worst thing ever, give me some numbers! Something more than just your terrifying CAPITAL LETTERS! YIKES!!!

@@advsLLC What's better is to crawl your lazy ass behind the dryer & use the new more rigid flex hose with proper elbows. I can't tell you how many times I've found these damn periscopes used that caused the dryer to blow the thermal fuse & stop working. Dryers are all about air flow, & anything that restricts it will cause problems. These boxes would work on OLD Dryers that did not have THERMAL FUSES, but even then, they were marginal at best. Don't fluff ip your chest & tell me I don't know what I'm talking about! I'm trying to save people an expensive service call by giving them FACTS !!! AND BY THE WAY, I HAVE BEEN SERVICING ALL BRANDS SINCE 1978!!!!! You need to read the instructions that come with a new dryer about proper venting. All manufacturers will tell you those boxes are GARBAGE!!
