getting rid of the onesie for standard wool hiking clothing was fantastic

Hello @leeow3n, a lot of our local divers love wearing wool under their dry suits as well.

This is a very informative series, thank you for putting it together. I’ll be talking with my LDS later this year about getting a dry suit, and the certification to go with their use, and this series of videos helps

Great point of wearing your undergarments in same temperature as your dive. Remember, some materials do have more compression than say polartec 🤘

Glad you liked the video scrappyweeman. You are correct, some material compresses more than others.

Im a commercial diver and most of the time I just wear a set of merino wool thermals under a neoprene suit. If I need a bit of extra warmth ill throw on a pair of cotton jogging bottoms and a jumper

Hello @Crosswizz, thank you for sharing your experience with us. Merino Wool will definitely keep you warm.

Great summary. As you say, the specialist scuba gear scores over regular dept store products in the combination of lightness, lack of bulk and flexibility. I do get my dry glove inners from regular suppliers because I've found some nicely warm, thinsulate and thin fleece gloves that do just as good a job as Kubi's own but at a third the price. For backmount I do need to have as much arm flexibility as possible to work those twins valve drills but for singles, no not a problem.

Glad you liked the video Tim Gosling. I too, purchase my liner gloves from a local department store. In fact, I purchase my dry gloves themselves from Amazon. I tend to go through 10 pairs of dry gloves per year. This year alone, I am already on my 4th set of dry gloves. When you do salvage work as much as we do, they tend to get damage quite often.

@@LakeHickoryScuba When I got my first Kubi gloves I looked up the product code on the wrist and googled it. And found they were indeed kitchen gloves you can get in the local store for under $2 a pair. Kubi charge $10!

Great series. Thank you. Strange question from a newbie, but do you wear anything under your undergarments? Trying to figure out the p valve tubes etc
@LakeHickoryScuba
@LakeHickoryScuba Год назад
Great question Aidan Finucane. Typically, I will wear a light t-shirt and thin shorts. For my neoprene Drysuit, when undergarments are not needed, I wear a t-shirt and my underwear (briefs).

Some underpants will help when gearing up on a public parking lot, unless you wanna dive into police custody 🤣.

Great Video Brian. Do you find that you have to modify your undergarments to accommodate a P valve. If so is a specific modification for this
@scrappyweeman4952
@scrappyweeman4952 Год назад
I installed a small grommet that accommodates the drain tube. Some thicker undergarments have a bottom zipper that lifts enough to place the tube through

Great question Michael McCrorey. With my full jump suit, I can unzip it from the top or the bottom. It also has grommets I can route the tube through. With a two piece, I simply run the tube up and over.
@michaelmccrorey4973
@michaelmccrorey4973 Год назад
@LakeHickoryScuba Thank you for the answer. I have a DUI undergarment. It is a two-piece and doesn't have a zipper in the pants so I probably would have to add the grommet

Hello myax129. Wool is a great option. I personally wear wool socks and love them. They even stay warm when they get wet.

No flexibility needed for back-mount divers? How are you going to do valve drills sir? Terrible advice.
@LakeHickoryScuba
@LakeHickoryScuba 2 месяца назад
Great question @gpolkra. Valve drills can be easily completed in all of these undergarments, just as easily as we can do them in Sidemount. The flexibility we are talking about in this video is specific to removing and replacing cylinders while underwater.
