DS4+ does it require VSM550 to start from my phone/iwatch or does it come included? Also have you installed this in a 2014 Honda Odyssey? Does the remote start still shut off once you open the door.
I have the non smart "H" key and had the dealership install the DS4 remote start. I bought the alarm module separate, the dealership said I cannot have remote start and alarm at the same time. I went to a local car audio shop and they said there was another module that I needed to purchase to have alarm and remote start, but I cannot figure out wth they are talking about. Any idea?
On a 2017 Toyota Sienna with regular key, would I still be able to open sliding doors or hatch with oem/factory remote, while engine has been remote started? Or would the oem/factory remote be disabled while engine running?
Michael Nguyen The way to determine if the key fob will stay active is to start your vehicle with the key and try all buttons on the fob. If they work 👍if not 😢
@@stereoking7778 I am instered in the 5706v alarm system for my 2018 Toyota Tacoma with manual transmission. My understanding is the 5706v features remote start also. Which route is cheaper: buy the 5706v or buy the DS4 and add the add-on alarm and get the 7756v lcd remote?
@@Playboyer670 Dru670 will be cheaper, easier and quicker to get a ds4 with the rf kit that features the 5706v remote. DS4 doesn't need a DB3 to make it work in your car because it is the DB3 and the R.S. yeah the rf kit might be a little expensive but get with a local salesperson that will get you a good deal on what you're looking for. The 5706v analogue remote start with db3 alone will be at retail about 600 bucks, plus install and taxes. You might save around 100 to 200 less going the ds4 route.
Do I need a DS4 or a DS4+ for a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta SE push start? Also, to turn on the car with a smartphone, what else will I need besides the DS4?
Jax Can if you are using your factory key fob then yes. You are limited to its original distance. How ever you should be able to pair via Bluetooth and get up to 100 feet of range. It will vary based being inside and how interference is in your area. If you would more range you can add a remote or viper smart start.
@@andrewenriquez3138 i want the ds4 as a security system and also the OEM remote start range is limited ... if i add a Smart Start module to the Ds4 i can control it over internet
Hi, idk if you’ve already purchased this or not but I wanted to share a story. I talked to someone once who had two 2017 Honda Civics. She had Best Buy install/hardwire a system like this and both cars became expensive paperweights. Last I talked to her, she was fighting with upper mgt with Best Buy to get them to replace the vehicles. I don’t have any more specifics, and I apologize about that but be careful. Best of luck to you however your decision has or turns out to be.
@@Ezduztube You can use the DS4 but the install will be analog and not digital. It is not recommend to do remote start on a manual transmission and labor will be extensive. To get complete phone control you can add a Viper Smart Start module,
Unfortunately if you want to pair your phone to the unit the shop you had install it will need to help you with it. The pair option is in the dealer app.
I just had Best Buy install a DS4+ on my 2017 Rav 4. The tech said he’s never been able to get Bluetooth to work. He said there’s nothing in the manual about it. The Smart Start app tells you exactly how to do it- but I’m not sure he left the valet switch accessible. Do you know where I’d find it? And do you know for sure that all DS4+ systems have Bluetooth? He made it sound like no ones ever made it work- but RU-vid says differently. :)
Frank Verderosa Generally the valet switch is some where under the drivers side dash. It is a small black button attached to a grey and grey/black wire. We have not had an issues with getting the phone programmed. I would recommend checking out the snake pit ( vipers RU-vid channel) it is possible they will have a video on how to do it there.
The smart start is an add on for cellular connection to arm/disarm/start the vehicle. The ds4 is a remote start unit that can be upgraded to add security or smart start as well. It can be controlled via a cell phone, but it over bluetooth so the range is much more limited.
So what would you put on my vehicle I have a 1997 k1500 and I do not have the key fob main reason why I want to get a remote start and security system.
Your vehicle doesn't need a digital bypass module, so I would either go with the Viper 5305v or if you would a top of the line unit I would recommend the Viper 5706v.
What is the difference between the DS4 and a DS4 plus there is nothing on RU-vid if you would make one and explain all the add-ons that can be put on One versus the other you guys would be selling a lot more
This thing is trash. I got the Clifford DS4 system installed on my truck. It continually loses programming and I have to take my truck back to get it reprogrammed. Out of nowhere my remotes stop working and it will not disarm itself. Last time I had this happen I had to tow the truck to the shop. Called Directed and they said it's not something they are aware of.
@@stereoking7778 2001 tundra. It's the weirdest thing, when I use the app on my phone to lock my truck it will send a signal to the remote saying it's locked, but the actual remote doesn't do anything.
I would try having them swap out the antenna cable. If I remember correctly there are separate wires for transmit and receive. If that doesn't work try swapping out the antenna itself. They will have to reprogram the remote because the it programs directly to the antenna.
