If you want to mix and master with more precision get the a5x, if you just want to listen to music then get the cheaper t5v. Another great comparison video as usual 👍🏿
I think I agree with you, the t5v sounds better as a listening speaker, the a5x is too punchy and clear (I know wiered thought). I couldn't relax with the a5x
I've been waiting for this comparison for a looooong time. I think if you actually do sound work like mixing and stuff go with A5X but if you only wanna enjoy listening to music the T5V is gonna be good enough. also T5v has a cleaner look and design and is much cheaper than A5x IMO.
Caution! There is a mistake in the description of frequency graphs with A3X instead of A5X. The graphs are correct though. Instagram - instagram.com/digitalstereophony/ Facebook - facebook.com/DigitalStereophony/ Buy me a coffe here: www.buymeacoffee.com/dsaudio.review
Thank you for clarifying! Been looking forward to you being able to compare the A5X's. Your comparisons are excellent, thank you for all you do for us!
The A5X is $1,000 for the pair. The T5V is $500 for the pair. At half the cost, the small benefit in low end response, midrange, and fuller sound isn't worth 2x the price unless you are chasing perfection. For $1,000 there are better monitors. Compare the Kali LP-6 at $300 for the pair, and you might not think about the Adam speakers again if you are looking for value. The T5V is a good monitor and 'good enough' for most people when you only have two options between the A5X and the T5V, but yes, the A5X is the 'better' monitor with >slightly< better midrange that has better balance between the lows and highs vs. the T5V. Cabinet difference may make one more suitable for your room than the other, so something to be aware of.
I was lucky enough to compare and test the a5x and t5v and I will say that the t5v is much better than the a5x, the a5x very much blurs very aggressive high frequencies, also the bass transmission is much better in the t5v but the a5x is much “faster”, which is why you can listen to pop music (but don't enjoy it, your ears get tired very quickly)
The a5x holds things together a bit more like the source track. The t5v has some accentuated high end that splashes rather than keeping things tight. Its kind of apples and oranges but at least this comparison sonically highlights the differences well.
Bought some T5V today and came home to this lol. I have a 30 day trial but I think I like the A5X a bit more based on the video, also I do hear the slight hiss on the T5V (although much quieter then my previous powered speakers). Thanks for this video!
Wanted to support local place and they didn’t carry it. Also wanted the option of a return policy as I’ve burned through speakers over the years. Decided to go for the A5x for now.
@@iliast.b2058 Still waiting for them to arrive but will let you know. I also wanted the a5X for the front power switch and volume control so not totally on sound quality (if it is better or not)
T5v sounds fantastic and the extra $ doesn’t really show in the A5x .. then again, aren’t we listening to YT compressed audio lol? Adam makes a great product no matter what you choose
I don't know if I ask for a video I'll be listened but, I would like very much to see and hear a comparisson between the Mackie MR624 x Mackie XR624. Thanks for this video anyways, I had a curiosity between this two too
@@misteryc Indeed. Some people prefer it to the larger A7X. I think they're perfect for listening to music. The A3X are fantastic for listening, not so good for mixing due to their small size.
@@lejoe48 yeah thank you for your response, I've seen loads of positives about them, paired with sub are gonna be great for producing beats. For mixing I'll take the a5x when I'll be ready with my price, the a7x are good, but don't need them, since they are big and my friend showed me both and to me the a7x just have more detailed bass and wided sound stage. But many things sounded exactly same to me at first time listening
@@misteryc Go for the A5X. The A3X are great for all genres, specially for classical music they are the wonder; those art tweeters are the best imo. The highs sound smooth, "liquid" and pleasurable. Cheers.
Would you choose a used pair (good condition) of A5X monitors for around $450-$500 or would you choose a used pair (also in good condition) of T5V monitors for around $300? My music room is smallish at roughly 9x14x8 and I'm a guitar player looking to track demos and play through the monitors via audio interface and I eventually want to work my way up to producing and maybe releasing my own music once I get better at mixing. Thanks!
I stumbled into you channel and I really like it!. I use a Topping FX7 Pro DAC/Pre-AMP and am looking for a nice set of active hifi desktop speakers with XLR inputs just for music listening and PC gaming. No studio stuff. Any suggestions?
Great comparison. Thank you. Just going on price the A5X should be much better. However with my audio set up I honestly couldn’t hear much difference. I noticed in another comment that you (@AUDIO Review) would prefer the T5V to the T7V. Is the T5V exceptional in the TXV range?
I too prefer the T5V over the T7V and even the T8V. The one drawback of the T5V is the high end being too loud. You can change the High Frequency EQ setting on the back of the speaker though. As far as this comparison goes. The A5X wins slightly over the T5V. I agree with other people saying if you plan on Mixing and Mastering go with the A5X over the T5V. If you plan on just enjoying music go with the T5V.
I want to get the T5V + sub for hifi listening in my small(ish) listening room (12x10x8.5). I'd be sitting ~ 8 feet away (midfield). Do you think this would be a good setup in this environment or should I step it up to the T7V?
@@DSAUDIOreview probably a sub with both. My preamp had a sub out so I’d like to use it. I’ve heard the T5V is better than T7V but they was for near field purposes.
The T5V's sound super harsh in the tops against the A5X's. The mids on the A series are much cleaner too. Neither are particularly thick sounding, but given the cone size this is hardly surprising. The A series are definitely the better choice, as you'd expect for costing double the amount of the T series.
@@Lcr34 Lol. The ribbon tweeter in the T5V is the same that is used in their top models. The front controls on the A5X and the carbon fibre woofer are the only differences that make it double the price. The carbon fibre cone makes sound bright for mid bass, but can lack in overall warmth.
