Hi Ken thanks for using Wet The face The Perfect Cup soap & aftershave in you shaving video today. It also has the grinds of the coffee right in the soap, also looks like I'm going to have to try a new single edge razor soon - all the best Ken
Hi Ken, Great video demo. My favorite SE razor is the Leaf "Twig": nimble, easy to find the correct angle, very efficient and uses the inexpensive DE blades. Love your "burn". 😁
Hey Ken, at this point the Chief’s pulled of the win over the bills. Good game. I actually like that Brush. Really cool. I have that same handle from the legend. Have to try that Artisan being that they are in my backyard. Great shave
Fantastic shave Ken. I knew that you would enjoy this one mainly because we are both coffee drinkers. My favorite single edge razor is the Thorn from leaf shave company with their brand of blades which are the Israeli Crystal blades.
A very informative comparative review, Ken. While I'm not a fan of SE safety razors, I do have the Leaf Twig. I purchased that one because it uses half of a DE blade. I had to chuckle when you showed us a "couple" of your aftershave splashes/colognes. BTW, my Kensurfs brush has been shipped. Of course, it will take 2-3 weeks to get here.
I've been using Gem and Schick razors for a long time and gave in buying a hawk V2 razor which looks similar to what you have, with the Feather Professional blades. It's not the first time I gave in buying Modern SE razors. I tried many shaves with it and was disappointed. Then did a side by side comparison with the Gem/Schick vs the SE Hawk. The Hawk failed miserably.Truthfully, the Modern razors may " Look better" but I'll stick to the ones that stood the test of time. Honorable mention: A Valet Stropping razor, Imo is a Masterpiece of Engineering. Accepts Feather Fhs-10 blades, gives fantastic shaves. Thanks for another great video!
Great shave. I haven’t gotten to SE razors yet as I’m very much still into DE razors. Maybe one day I’ll get to SE razors, but I don’t know which one to start with. Have a good one!
Awesome information as always Ken, my favourite right now is the Merkur 34c with Proraso soap. Your very impressive cologne collection reminded me of the guy from Anchor man😂
Another great video Ken, thanks for the demonstration! I actually love the Asylum single edge razor I got from Bullgoose that you reviewed not long ago. They still have a decent discount on their razors right now, if I'm not mistaken. A single edge Schick Proline blade works great for me in that bad boy!
As a DE shaver convert turned into a DE hobby guy, I have never met a DE or single edge razor I did not like! There is always the favorites used for shaving, the favorites ya just want to own as historical display items and that new thing ya just want. And, to think it all started out as a move to save money but getting rid of expensive cartridges'. Well, as most of us here know, we made great strides with much, much better shaves and turned a mundane task into a nostalgic moment of pleasure and relaxation. I look forward to each shave! Now Ken, we can combine that with "COFFEE", my other favorite pleasure. Am looking forward to coffee shaving soap. Thanks, Ken for yet another fine video.
Same here. I've been collecting vintage Gillettes for awhile now, and its fun to be able to bring any one of them out of retirement and into action. I also find that restoring them is fun & satisfying.
@@nicetna2010 Less expensive than vintage classic cars, ya can afford more of them, they take up a lot less space and ya don't have to register or license them.
What I find most interesting about the vintage Gillette DE razors is that they each deliver their own version of a shave. All are excellent, just slightly different. For example, the pre-war Tech is just a shade of gray more aggressive than the post-war Tech. The 40's Super Speed is just a tad less aggressive than the later Flair Tips (at least to my skin). The open combs (uber efficient and slightly more aggressive than the safety bars), just flat out get down to business and are not for the beginner imho, but the Gillette open combs will still deliver in carefull & experienced hands. For those still reading, the Red Tip is the equivalent to a Gillette adjustable on setting 3. Smooth with a touch of aggressiveness. The Gillette adjustables are in a league of their own, still today the world adjustable by which others are compared to.
@@nicetna2010 Wow! You have put in some time, thought and, study into this. Impressive. What is nice is how many in our shaving community have accumulated a great deal of knowledge and experience and are willing to share that with others. Thanks to Ken we have a place to share right here. I guess we need a shaving blog where we can compile our comments and thoughts. Is there a "Shaving Forum" somewhere?
Another great shave Ken! Both of these razors are great but I prefer the one that uses the DE blades. I’m thinking about getting a Leaf razor. Keep up the great work!
Nice one Ken and the bonus burn🪒🪒 I have an old vintage Schick Injector(nice and easy)and an Asylum RX Artisan blade SE(first edition, think R41 on steroids)which I can't use acct. too aggressive. Kai Captain Mild artisan blades and Feather Pro Guard are the ones I used....but. Thanks for the video. Enjoy!
Both of my favorite SE razors come from razorock. The aluminum hawk with a Kai blade and the razorock Eco with a bic chrome blade, these are my go to when I can’t use my straight razors. Also really like the vintage Gem razors.
There are also other larger types of SE blades for razors like the OneBlade SE razor, i hate propriety blades, i love when you own a SE using DE snapped in half love the Twig oh great shaving video also very informative. stay safe, cheers....Peter
I'll have to get me some of that coffee soap, for sure. How do you store your blades after you get done with a shave? The ones that you will use again? Thanks
The green Irish tweed smell delicious I had a sample and the tom ford Extreme is to strong give u a headache but the leather from them smell good and not strong at all give that a try
Lisa Awesome coffee soap and aftershave, hope it’s refreshing for your skin. You know Ken you would have made money as a barber with that shaving skill and knowledge.🪒💈💈🪒
