DSD - Digital Smile Design by Felipe Miguel
Movie shows how to design smile using softwares.
DSD ethically involves the patients in the restorative or smile enhancement process, making them the ‘co-designer’ of their own treatment by sharing objectives, expressing their desires and expectations with the restorative team. The interaction between patient and dental specialist is improved by photos and videos taken at several steps of the treatment.The experiences all over the world have been tremendous. Once the restorative technical requirements are combined with the desires and emotional needs of the patient, great results will be achieved - creating a path to a natural, confident and beautiful smile.

hey, i have one question! how do you know if your real wax up is the same in size in compare of digital wax up ? do you have some good reference points?

so why the hell spend so much effort visualizing the smile if you still do things according not your visualization but golden proportion ?

your question was "real wax up size vs digital size" and the answer was "golden proportion". You need the digital smile design to get the correct tooth shape for the patients' face.

Using previous photos added up to reference points in the face, also using DSD metrics wich represents 1:1 size to real life. You can adjust the ruler size inside the DSD software to match real life tooth size, after this is done, all those new measures are transfered to reference points in stone model, so you can wax it to the right new measures. Also we always try to use golden proportion, but sometimes we need to match the tooth shape according to patient’s face shape, gingival zenith, tooth size, there are many other factors...

5:29 sorry to be such a pain... but is it not fair to say that the incisal edges of the left quadrant (right side of the screen, teeth 21 22 23 or 9 10 11 are slightly short?

Virgílio Cavalcante In english, it is bisacryl resin. It is branded under various names by different manufacturers (i.e., Luxatemp, Integrity, etc.).

+DocCrutch do you know what the brown material is at 4:07? The material that is being injected into the putty matrix? Is it just another PVS putty with different properties to capture greater detail of the wax up??

so it is a bridge? i mean the patient can't floss in between teeth? all units are connected???

+Jsvlad js This is in Brazil. We call it a Mock-Up and is just a kind of test-drive, so the patient can see how it will look and agree or not to go on with the treatment. Also, the dentist can evaluate if the form, occlusion and everything else is ok; if not, the dentist can adjust it before doing the permanent treatment (most likely ceramic veneers). The patient can go home with it, but this will break and fall apart in one week or so.
