Hahaha yeah Vito its my first time needing to use calculator when playing a game 😂😂😂 btw deadly brightshade also drop 2x leafy meat, good for Wigfrid yey 😄😁
Great video! :D One little detail, the 10-25% damage reduction from Brightshade armor/helm only applies towards lunar enemies (i.e. brightshade, gestalts, crab king, celestial champion). Cheers! :)
Hey heyyy Arcwell how are you? 😄😊 Ahh yeah I noticed that too,, like, why enemy's planar defense can block our physical damage, but our extra 10/25% physical reduction from Brightshade armor/helm only applies towards lunar enemies? This 10/25% should also work towards neutral enemy as well because planar/lunar /shadow is a stronger force that affect the Constant.. how do you think Arcwell? Should our Brightshade Helm / Armor give extra 10/25% damage reduction to neutral enemy also? I didn't want to mention it in this video coz it will be another info that sounds negative and confusing /didnt match the lore.. but I rant about it in the forum 😆😆 Thank you my friend for the keen observation 😄😊👍👍👍 (Btw how should I call you? Arc? 😄)
@@Wattata888 Doing great, hope you are as well! =) The whole thing with player/enemy planar defense being different is honestly so wacky and unintuitive. I don't really have an opinion on whether the 10/25% reduction should apply to neutral enemies, but it seems at least like the devs are trying to emphasize a difference between lunar/shadow gear (seeing as dreadstone gives extra reduction vs. shadow enemies). Right now it definitely feels lackluster. Supposedly these armor sets will get buffs depending on which side you pick in a future update, so who knows, maybe it'll all be okay then :) (Arc works perfectly ^^) Thanks for the reply Watt! (can I call you that? =) )
Glad to know you are doing great Arc 😀 Yeah I think Devs are building up something big with Lunar vs Shadow that will give us better gear / perks when aligning with either of them, for now we just accumulate that brightshade husk and pure brilliance haha 😆😁 yeah Arc call me Watt 😀🤗
ahh yeah I thought the same too, that's why this planar damage type come out, where usual method for huge damage burst (gunpowder / volt goat jelly) doesnt work anymore, it will be harder but more fun too! 😄😁
Maybe firedamage will become a usefull tool to use against mobs with planar defense, since firedamage ignores armour. Maybe i will finally use firestaff.
Yeahh agree Supersquid! I saw some people drop like 20 boards beside the brightshade plant, then light up the boards on fire and the plant dies faster, time for some productive arson! 😈😈😈
This video covers how planar damage, defense and protection work really well, I'm quite surprised! This worked well in my favor, thank you. One thing I would like to bring up though is the Brightshade set's planar protection value, on how it protects against planar damage. The formula you used works against the Deadly Brightshade's thorns attack, however this formula doesn't work for Grazers. Applying the Brightshade set's planar protections to a Grazer's melee causes the damage to go into the negatives. Could this be explained?
Hi Logan , as I tested : Wilson wear 1 brightshade armor : grazer deal 9 dmg Wilson wear 2 brightshade armor : grazer deal 7.5 dmg According to brightshade armor reduction formula, the flat planar damage reduction should make the damage go to negative number, but we still take damage because once the planar damage become negative, it doesnt count anymore. Thats why wearing 1 Brightshade armor make Wilson take 9 damage (50 physical dmg x 0.2)*10% = 9 dmg And wear 2 brightshade armor make Wilson take 7.5 dmg (50 physical dmg x 0.2) *25% = 7.5 dmg The planar damage will be negative from 2 calculations above, it doesnt count into the final damage taken by Wilson. Btw this is what i think, its the only calculation that match the damage taken, but who knows Klei have their own formula, need someone that can read game code to confirm it, but hopefully this helps 😄😊
I'd love a follow up with your calculations on how natural armor from Wigfrid or Warly garlic spice affect the damage done with the new armor etc. I think Warly garlic could be a huge boon if Planar damage increases like you predict since natural armor reduces Planar damage like normal.
Oh that's a very good question 😄👍 im still outside for now but i will test it in 4 hours from now when I get home kay, then will update you, thanks for the input 😄😊 cool nickname btw
Heyy I just tested it, Garlic spice does reduce 33% of incoming damage , and so does Wigfrid's -25% damage modifier , here's the result : Deadly Brightshade hit : - Wilson with Garlic, no armor : 87 dmg - Wilson with Garlic, 1 brightshade armor : 23 dmg - Wilson with Garlic, 2 brightshade armor : 11 dmg - Wigfrid, no armor no garlic : 97.5 dmg - Wigfrid, with Garlic : 65 dmg Thanks so much my friend for your input! Sorry a bit late reply haha, how should I call you btw? 😄
@@Wattata888 Man, that garlic spice is really effective, even just Wigfrid's natural armor! No worries on the time, just glad natural armor is finally becoming more than just a regular armor modifier with this update :D
Yeahh buddy, good thing Deadly Brightshade drop is increased to 2 Brightshade husk and 2 leafy meat😄, on beta it was 1 Brightshade husk only 😵💫 what's your favorite character btw? 😄
@@someidiot3826 no worries my friend, I like wendy too! both her unique personality and her power againts mobs, thanks to Abigail 😄👍 lemme know if you have any question kay, cheers! 😄
Fantastic video. Well explained. Just a quick hint. You might want to use some graphs to display e.g. the effectiveness of planar damage over damage or something (planar damage(x) / x *100) where you can easily and visually see how it approaches 50% etc. This might be a bit easier to follow than raw calculations :) But again fantastic video!
Ohh that's a great idea! 😯😄👍 will keep it in mind for my future videos, thank you so much for the input Felix! 😄😊 lemme know if you have any questions kay 😄
hello Zaptrap, that's a good question, i just tested it, when brightshade armor reduce planar damage by 10, it doesnt lose extra 10 durability 😄 example Wilson wear brightshade helm, got hit by deadly brightshade for 35 damage Brightshade helm lose 82 durability from what I counted, 82 durability is reduction from physical damage (80% + 10% reduction) so planar damage that reduced by our brightshade armor will not lose durability / blocked for free 😀👍 thanks for the question 😊
I think because there will be stronger Planar equipment in the future, that's why current Brightshade armor is not that strong yet, lets see how it goes my friend 😄😊 Can i see how you roll? 😆😁
OMG Jakey! 😆 Oh i love your videos and your amazing speedruns! I've been wanting to say that I can see you put so much effort to edit and polish your videos and you are my inspiration! Aaaaaaa *fangirl excited yelps 😆😆😆
Heyy Kunnoc how are you? 😄 The Brightshade armor set bonus give 80% physical defense + 25% physical defense* (this +25% bonus is only for Lunar / Shadow aligned enemies, for normal enemy like Pigman / Bunnyman, only have -80% damage reduction) For Planar defense, yes they give -25% Planar damage reduction, then -20 flat planar damage absorption 😄😊 A bit confusing, but do lemme know if you have any question kay, cheers 😄🍻
80% damage reduction, slow enemy's move and attack speed by 20% when attacked by enemy. Also log sweet can be eaten anytime to restore 5 hunger (wood is not that chewy or tasty..) and 8 health (wood = fiber for gut health) , each consumption reduce durability by 5%, okay lets stop here before it gets too wild 😆😆😆 Thats creative btw, adding honey as ingredient for log sweet 😆😄👍👍👍
To me it feels like the update was launched in a hurry.. in forum there were many people unhappy with how planar defense works, especially for Wolfgang main because spicy volt goat jelly strategy is not viable against planar creatures.. but hope they will improve how planar defense works in near future Judas 😄😊
Not every update can be bombastic and filled to the brim. Sometimes, the Devs need to implement small changes, to test them more than anything. And small update by small update, you start getting to the bigger picture. Patience.
That's true VG, for me I am okay with current update because I know things will get better in the future, as Devs always listen to players' feedback. It's just that i'm sharing about current disadvantage about Planar defense as how it is without sugarcoating it and also explaining how it works. Hope it helps in some way 😄😊
Aaaaaa yeah Michael I feel like this update is a bit confusing especially for new players 😵💫 but im sure Klei have something good for us in the future as they listen to players feedback 😄 lets gooo flame the forum!😈😈 Hahaha kidding 😆 lemme know if you have any question kay 😄 cheers! 🍻
