@@dustinjessee3952that’s not going to eliminate box rise my boy. You can’t do anything about box rise. Unless you have a real pro audio processor with limiters. Like a dbx drive rack. Then you would go with amps that are double what you really need but the power would get cut when the higher frequencies reach a certain threshold. Box rise happens on the low notes so that’s where the extra power would be used when the impedance raises.

Trying to control Xmax without enough power is not how to do it. At what point will it be music, not SPL. Why? Start with the purpose of your setup. Listing or competition?

Yes we call this "headroom" which means that you have more power than you need and in turn tour amplifier does not have to struggle to put out everything it can in order to keep up with a woofer of equal or greater power handling...

If it is a single voice coil then yes but if it is a dual 4 ohm your choices are 8 ohm or 2 ohm

People make their subs insanely powerful so that you can hear it from 6 miles away yet while you’re in the car, you can barely even tell a song is playing it just sounds like a big vibration. The whole system doesn’t need to be that loud in general anyway. When your car stereo is twice as loud as a live rock concert or a jet, I think you went over the line lol I’d like to still have my hearing in old age

Running DD audio D6.5 components rear fill vo-M6.5b and a set of d series tweeters front stage a vo w8 (70-150kz) and a single Sl612 tuned to 29hz xover at 70 with a swappable box via XLR plugs. When I want to piss off the neighbors a stereo integrity sq15 tuned to 22hz the subs on a 1500@1ohm (15) same amp 800@2ohm (12) very balanced with either sub

​@@The.One.True.B Lol you have this dumb view but every build I have sat in, the highs and mids keep up with the bass plenty. You can't judge a RU-vid video for that because lower frequencies have too much pressure for phone mics and causes them to clip easily. I've sat in hundreds of builds. The only one with bad highs that I've sat in is my own because I'm fabricating custom door panels for my new mids. I'm still on stock speakers and they keep up mostly in my 151.4dB+ 2 10" sub build🤷

I used to hang with a “basshead” subwoofer nut a ton, and he had lots of friends that would hang out and blast the lowest bass notes or blast songs that I knew but could not recognize. Riding with them somewhere like a drive thru was awful and obnoxious, leaving it blasting bass in line even with everything turned down, having it shake the actual hairs inside my ears and nose so it itches and feels strange. I’ve yet to meet someone with an insane bass setup that didn’t have it so that was ALL you can hear whether inside or outside the vehicle, and I’ve met many. Sure there out outliers with everything, but I’m just speaking from experience and how the “scene” or many members seems to want to be known. Good all around speakers and pretty much any sub as most cars lack them entirely is a massive game changer, diminishing returns on cost to benefit ratio really start to snowball quickly as you go up. Enjoy whatever hobby you want even if that hobby is causing a huge radius of disturbance by setting up weapons grade bass power in a vehicle barely a few feet or so away from your ears at most.

You're not alone, I encounter a lot of individuals that feel the same. Get an Ohm's Law coin ... and carry it with you ... look at it occasionally throughout the day until you fully grasp it. Been in audio since the 70's, w/two parallel careers as a FOH Engineer, and the Electrical Industry. Another idea is the Ohm's Law cartoon, on poster, screensaver, t-shirt. Curious, what concepts of impedance in particular are sticking points?

If you're only using 1 subwoofer then yes. If using 2 subwoofers then no

Read the title and watch the video again. We're talking about a PAIR. D2 will NOT wire to 1 ohm in a pair.
