No problem and this is just one way to make those plates the other way and more traditional way that people do it is using a type of mask or sticker on the metal and then putting it into acid to etch it away.

Great video thanks. Have you managed to get a black mark on steel where it’s does not actually engrave? I believe it’s called xmarking and also can it white engrave on steel?

I haven't tried to be honest to go for colors on steel but to my understanding you should be able to mark onto it without actually deeply engraving it. And are you talking about stainless steel or just steel?

Hi Randy . Have you used any of these lasers to cut thin gauge sterling ? If so which one and how many passes did it take ?

It definitely can but it really depends on what kind of metal it is along with the thickness. So like one of the really thin aluminum business cards can be cut in 5 to 10 passes something the same thickness in silver would take over double that. When Engraving for etching that skeleton octopus onto that thicker aluminum card I set it up with too many layers and it just burnt through the card completely leaving a perfect square. Definitely not the best example but yes it can cut metals.

@@GomeowCreations I was thinking like 22 ga .925 back plates for mounting cabs. Use the laser to cut designs in the backplate instead of piercing them. Especially scroll work designs.

Is the 20w fiber strong enough to cut aluminum dog tags out? Also.. will 20w diode do clear acrylic without a coating?

Only a CO2 laser will work on clear acrylic without a coating. And what do you mean by cut

@GomeowCreations I gotcha. I'm just getting into acrylic. Currently have the F1, but I work at an aluminum mill... and, not so much for electrical... which is what I am... but the labels that we put on hydraulic lines and air lines per our schematics don't always stand up against the rolling oils and hydraulic oils... and... well we have a literal tons of aluminum around and was wondering if 20w fiber would be strong enough to cut blanks of aluminum in the shape and thickness of a dog tag out of a sheet, so that we could then engrave on that blank.

@@GomeowCreations I had someone do 0.1mm text with a JPT it was only readable with a magnifying glass and it came out well. I wonder if the same can be done with an f1 ultra or how close can it get to a jpt laser.
