These are the best candidates for proper Pentium Pro patching. According to max1024's articles, all you really have to do is simply jump around code that freezes the system. Namely, NOT write a value 0xA4 to port 0xB2 (which seems to be SMI-related). Pentium Pro doesn't have some power features Pentium 2 has, and doesn't have at least one register that exists in Pentium 2, which is being written to and probably causing a freeze. Pentium Pro and Pentium 2 datasheets exist and can be found easily.
