Thank you! I just mapped it as you usually would. Pressed Ctrl + M, then clicked on the return I wanted to assign the knob to, then moved the knob. Let me know if you're having any problems, best way to speak is on Insta @dj_bosh
@@BoshDubs Hey thanks for your reply, I was wondering if you ever use the midimix with groups? with midi instruments etc., how do you navigate as it can be difficult to see what you're arming and automating? Big thanks! Will give you an add
Thanks! I don't have groups in my actual live session but when I make a track I'll assign the knobs to anything I need to whether it's groups or macro knobs. You might get a better idea as I show the mapping in this video, although I'm afraid I didn't have the camera on the Midimix ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bcIWiQSpPFo.htmlsi=1G8h69Vy69B3vIpV
Ah maaaan, great tutorial once again. Where dejaysus did u get all that kit. I need to start saving. I use mpc beats, testing it to the max of my ability. Want to go live for next summer. U have shown me a way I can do that suddenly. U da man Bosh! Respect and appreciation, truly.
No problem at all man thanks for watching. I got all my equipment over a few years as it took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted. Didn't buy it all at once!
Hmmmm probably something that could act like a mixing desk. For that I use the Akai MidiMix. The mixing desk is the core of dub production and performance imo. Anything with both knobs and faders would be ideal
Cheers Bosh, you the man. If only the akai midimix would work with the akai mpk and mpc beats. Word on the tube says they don't. Not brave enough to move to ableton, I'm an mpc beats guy, for now. Your very good for replying. Thanks.
Good evening, buddy, you've implemented what I only dream about!)) could you please write in more detail, what effects and plugins you have on the individual effects groups and how they are assigned to the KORG studio? Thank you in advance for your excellent work and clear example🙋♂️✊
Hey, thanks for watching! Ill try and elaborate a little bit here as to how Ive got the effects set up. All my effects in that session are on the Send/Returns. Send 1 is Ableton's Reverb that I do not have assigned to any controls. It is used as Mixing Reverb for some loops/stems that are completely dry of effects Send 2 is just Ableton's Echo Plugin, The only parameters I have control over on this effect are the Amount and the Feedback. Amount is mapped to all the knobs on the first row of the MIDIMix (The top row), so this can be turned on or off on all the different instrument channels. The feedback is linked to a fader on the MIDIMix. This is so I can reduce the feedback if its getting a bit too much. Send 3 is EQ Eight, which I have set up to cut the low frequencies going into the next plugin, which is Echo again. This time I have mapped the Amount and the Time. Amount is mapped to every knob on the second row of the MIDIMix, again, so each channel can have this effect applied to it. The Time is mapped to a fader on my Korg NanoKontrol Studio, and allows me to change the Delay Time. Changing the Delay Time in real time creates a pitch change effect too. Send 4 is two different reverb plug ins. the first is Soundtoys' Little Plate, and the second is the Cab and Spring preset in Ableton's Convolution Reverb. This is simply mapped to the third row of knobs on the MIDIMix Send 5 is the most complicated chain. The first is 'LFO', which is mapped to the Frequency of the 'Auto Filter' plugin. This means that the frequency on the Auto Filter moves up and down automatically. After that in the chain is a Reverb, followed by a Limiter just to keep the levels in check. That's all for the Send/Return effects. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I'm happy to explain anything further
Hi! Very thorough tutorial, thanks. Can you explain how to turn the steppers kick pattern into a one drop pattern using only a button on your controller? Thank you in advance. Bless!
@@BoshDubs Hm, that's an elegant solution. I've been thinking about setting up a dummy clip with automating the volume of the clip and routing the kick to there but this is simpler and not that static. Thanks again! :)
Hey..awesome video..I'm.practicing with a similar setup with 2 notation launch control xls and a launchpad, on stems I produced myself. I'm curious as to the compression and limiter on the master channel.. limiter I presume to avoid any nasty peaks from delay etc , but any tips on the compression there, to make the mix "stick" together nicely.. any tips on the settings for that?
Hey, thanks for watching! The Conpressor and Limiter arent doing much more that keeping things tidy, the compressor threshold I set to just below the most common peak gain (hopefully that makes sense) so it's not really doing much work at all. I dragged on the normal compressor and just lowered the threshold, I think that's all in regard to the settings. If you want me to explain more I can.
