In this video, Dubspot instructor and label head behind Subatomic Sound System Emch demonstrates his approach to dub mixing using the Livid Ds1 MIDI mixer in conjunction with Ableton Live and the Push controller. Watch as Emch uses the Ds1 as an instrument and the power of combining new technology with old-school dub mixing techniques to produce a relatively complex track.

I have dub machines and haven't used it that much until I saw this video....now I like it better than most echo /delay/defuse plugins...and this has been an inspirational video. thanks man!

how it works with Reason audio 12 ? There is the possibility to set the 9 buttons on the right side to change each effect parameters of my 5 aux sends ? Thanks

Hello, i look great but how did you programmed the MODE BUTTON?? i just can make sigle mappings and i have tried the mode function but i cant map a single button to make a "mode function" on live; how is that possible?; i really appreciate any hint you could provide. Kind Regards

+Lumhiere You can use multiple DS1s but the second you will have to manually midi map. It won't automatically control channels 9-16. I tend to manually map it anyway though, so it doesn't bother me.

Yes it is possibly to use two and manual map the second or both of them.

Funny thing is, I'm not going to use this as a DJ tool/Mixing tool/DAW navigation tool, it's like one of the few controllers on the market with 40 knob encoders which is perfect for sound design (using a mouse for that work is getting stupid fucking tedious.)

are you ltd to just 8 tracks or can you say move up in different banks to get access to say a further 8 channels

This model is limited to 8 tracks, and since the it's not automated, that makes more sense, otherwise the knob and fader positions would get out of sync easily. My solution is to group channels to 8 sub groups. We actually shot a follow up video showing that, which is what the song at 12:27 towards the end of the video is, probably about 16 or more channels tracks, sub grouped to 8 channels.

Yasin Sabuncu Send effects should always be set to 100% wet. You can control the amount of the send and any other controls by mapping them to a midi controller or a key on the keyboard

I have a ds1 and it's awesome except livid should of put RGB LEDs under the pots rather then all white. You have to buy these stupid (and expensive) coloured plastic overlay things to get different colours.
