Dubailand - Dubai's Crazy $63 Billion Theme Park
Dubailand is an entertainment complex planned to be built in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, owned by Tatua (a subsidiary of Dubai Holding). When announced in 2003, it was one of the most ambitious leisure developments ever proposed around the world, costing $64.3 billion, but the development was delayed by the global recession and Dubai was severely affected by the financial crisis. Development was suspended in 2008 due to the 2007-2008 financial crisis, but resumed in mid-2013. The latest information from 2013 revealed that $55 billion had been raised for the project. Some projects were canceled, but then Dubailand became the name of Dubai's entertainment district and some of the planned projects of the Dubailand complex were opened. Other projects are under construction and scheduled to open in 2025.
