Dubov's imaginative attack in the Ragozin | Sjugirov vs Dubov

After the moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 d5 4.Nc3, many years ago, everyone used to think the best way to equalize is with Be7. The solid move led to some great games starting from the Capablanca, Alekhine era. However, Black players quickly realize that it could be a good idea to use your dark squared bishop more actively and develop it on b4. After Bb4, we are in Ragozin territory. This video will prove to an excellent guide to learn some ideas in the Ragozin Defence. After all Dubov is one of the most creatively inclined GMs of the modern era.

@JacksSpas
@JacksSpas 3 года назад
It's not really the same thing. You see Dubov knocked down the rook by accident and fixed it before pressing the clock like you're supposed to do. If you knock a piece by accident you should pick it up before pressing the clock. In the clip you're referring to Hikaru pressed the clock and then while coming back with his arm knocked down a piece. His opponent tried to call the judge on that but it was nonsense cause Hikaru dropped the piece after pressing the clock so he did not break any rule and it was impossible for him to do otherwise.

Am I the only one who noticed the Asian guy could have taken the rook on the black square for like 10 moves with the bishop?

Trust me on this one. If a guy like this doesn't take this rook with the bishop it means that you can't take this rook with the bishop.

The opponent played the best move only - 2.99. Taking with the bishop is much worse. 1) -11.15 (22 ply) 27 Bxg6 gxf3 28.Kh1 Rxg6 29.Rf2 Qf5 30.Ra1 Bh4 31.e4 dxe4 32.Bd2 Bxf2 33.Qxf2 Qxh3+ 34.Qh2 Qxh2+ 35.Kxh2 Rg2+ 36.Kh3 Rxd2 37.Kg3 Nxd4 38.Kf4 Nb3 39.Rh1 f2 40.Kxe4 Nxc5+ 41.Ke3 Rxb2 42.Kf3 Bb5

Dubov noise to long, and the enemy to short. Maybe they can shared to each other.

What a pawn deception, It felt like dubov was defending the pawn on a4 with Qe8 afterall it was just a sac Time > Material scenario
