Ever just complete a song and slap an au5 track in to reference....30 hours of just mastering... on top of 40+ hours of actual sound design and mixing....and I gave up cuz I realized the source was messed up and I no longer had the cpu to actually run it....But we’ll get em this time bois....side note: anybody know where I can get skins for like, I dunno, every plug-in ever? I just can’t look at stock serum anymore.

I love the idea of building on small amounts of compression so it doesn’t competently kill the transients and distort too much. I usually just slam the shit out of everything with Ozone so this opened my eyes 😂

 Sad Meal For sure man, you've my full support. When you feel like it, It'd be cool to know how you do your post processing for your songs, they're extremely energetic hence I wondered how you go by it. There're a lot of videos sure but none of them are like, straightforward you know? (and dude i'm addicted to your Moonboy remix wtf.) Also, if it's not too much of a hassle, could you guide me as to what I'd require if I purchase a pair of Monitors? I've never owned one, and there're tons of advices but none of them concrete, like, will I need an Audio Interface and such for it? What do you say?
@SadMeal
@SadMeal 4 года назад
@@shubhamsingh6037oct gotchu man, I have a melodic dubstep start to finish I'm doing this month! As for monitors, I wouldn't overthink or overspend. I'd invest in a good pair of headphones before monitors but if you're sure you want monitors, the rokits or the Yamaha H series are always good and the focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is the cheapest and best interface in my opinion. Hope that helps man ❤️

Great video, cheers! a few key takeaways: 1. Pick good quality samples, unless you have really good ears to mix it properly and get it to sound right later 2. Unless your sound design is doing its job (including all the fx e.g. distortion, filters, compression), the "mixdown" won't magically make it "sound good" 3. Use multiple plugins and handle your pre-master gently to get the most out of it instead of slamming one plugin on it

@@SadMeal It really did! The biggest thing that I am struggling with right now, is how to go about finishing a project. I sometimes think that I might be squashing way too much into a song and it sounds cluttered and EQing becomes a nightmare. I do have one question for you, in the video you said you normally mix and master all in one project, so basically you aren't bouncing out the mixdown and then importing to a new project for the master? Generally what are your settings for your final export?

Where did you get those Pixel Terror samples? I've been a fan of both you and them for a long time and would love to get em somehow :p

I've seen some design the LFO shape for sidechaining in a really detailed fashion based on the length of the kick... you a believer in that? How is that done with shaperbox?

Yeah man! Basically you'd zoom in real close on the kick sample to see the length in milliseconds and then set the shaperbox to match the kick. It's definitely a more precise and cleaner way to sidechain.

22:40 can someone explain this compressor method? Even in other types of music (orchestral, bands etc) i see people use this method all the time. I kinda don't really get the point why just conpress a little and I don't hear any real difference to the sound.

You're actually compressing a lot when you crank the make up gain up, because you're slamming it into the soft clip. We will perceive it as louder but it won't be exceeding whatever level we set it at.
