Looks about right... The 1098 was a great bike, but with only two cylinders, it's not gonna keep up with the Beemer top end. The 1198 or Panigales would be a closer match... Stock, the 1098 only made around 145hp at the wheel... Gobs of torque, but no match for the BMW in sheer speed...
I ve an 1198s ..i've drived some of the most powerful bikes ever produced...but this bike,especially if you put the Temignoni mufflers to breath it correctly (original mufflers are very very closeds),it's a fucking beast
ducati running open exhaust or is there a low mount? Couldnt see one and I have a 1098 but obviously the S1k is faster, I mean its only 8 years newer than the Duc
Newer does not mean faster. The ducati still has more torque, i think with a good start the ducati could be faster on a 1/2 mile. If they would go on a longer distance the s1000rr would be way faster than the ducati.
Its an interesting video. After reading through most of the comments, I too agree that a second camera or different angle would be nice. Not familiar with the Bay Area Racing, so I'll assume the two riders know each other. On a side note it would be nice to know the year of Manufacture of the two bikes. As an owner of an 08' 1098S its not really a 'drag bike machine' that said I would expect the S1000RR to be the better machine. Having said that brings back the question of age; the S1000RR is a much more technically advance machine, whereas the 1098 is just plain raw. Unless it had ABS, the Ducati really is just a basic motorcycle. The BMW most likely would be 'peppered' with rider aids, which with its power and these modern time can be the case. I'm not willing to run my 1098S up over 150. Again, interesting video; hats of the the riders willing to give us a show. Thanks!
I took my 2007 1098s that I put new pistons in from FBF with the DP ECU and Terms exhaust and a few other things to 176 and said that was enough ,, thats moving right there and I know it didnt take more than a mile or so to start and stop.. and like you said. its far from a drab bike. its built for pulling out of corners
Where are the results of the first two runs, where it appears the Duc pulled ahead, even after a bad start on the second run? Fan of both bikes!!! 2 of the best bikes i have ever had the privilege owning and piloting.
Why does DUCATI uses a BLENDER AS ENGINE??? BMW seems and sounds PERFECT!!! Does no matter if you "forgot" to put a camera in the finish...cause...we all know the results anyway!!! BMW 1000RR WILL WIN ANY GIVEN DAY!!!

Quick shifter on a ducati? It seems not on it. But definitely on a s1000rr. quick shifterd bikes are much more fast and s1000rr launch control seems decent and more advanced ducati showing no advantage of big v2 here 1098 can be powerful as 180 with the cam and ecu tune but it seems not if the s1000rr was tuned like another it would be hard for ducati win. but if 1098 was tuned its possible indeed. But with the proper quick shifter
