I'm considering purchasing an 1199, the styling looks timeless to me and the engine had so much character. Do you know how it compares to the more modern V4?
The 1199 is a much smaller bike even though it has higher displacement, also noticeably slower at full power. Doesn't handle as well as the V4 either. It does have more torque and you can feel it as the throttle response is sharper than the V4. The V4 is just superior at everything performance wise, a big step forward. The Panigale V4 engine also has a ton of character because of its twin pulse firing order. Feels very different compared to a regular V4 like the Aprilia RSV4. In my opinion the Panigale V4 with Termignoni 4Uscite is the most brutal sounding bike you can buy. The RSV4 also sounds amazing but the Panigale sounds like a chainsaw shooting thunderbolts :D Words can't describe it, you need to hear it in person... it's insane. I also think the 1199/1299 styling looks better than the current V4/V2 styling. The 1199 is still one of my all time favorites but the V4 is just next level.
