The good thing is that Ducati is one of the few brands that designs and manifactures in italy as opposed to others who's entire manufacturing and assembly process is entirely overseas...

Your style of talking is better than that if at least the last five prime ministers. But I hope you retain your current job, as in my opinion you give by far the best reviews. And having recently lost a Monster 796, which I loved, to theft, I cannot wait to upgrade to this bike, the changes to which agree with me. Aa for high pegs, I had the higher comfort seat on my 796, and it make the comfort (seat-to-peg distance) perfect. Not saying it will do the same on this new model, but it will surely help.

Just bought one. It was between this and the Supersport 950 S. It was as you said, didn't LOOK special to me, until I rode a demo and it was frankly perfect for what I wanted. Lightweight, responsive, felt "alive", and perfect as a commuter with occasional weekend track/corner carving duty. Bought it with the Termignoni race exhaust too, because it sounded kinda weak thanks to Euro5.

Clearly, it'll be great to ride, and has some quality components, but in terms of looks, it's like an electric commuter bike

Are you wearing the Dainese airbag? Is there a review coming on that? I thought you had to wear it on the inside or does it not matter? Only asking as I looked at it but it doesn't have neck support but it looks fairly tidy in this video.

sorry to be nosey , had mine for two years , love it , wear mine on the outside , you can wear it in or out its up to you . just remember this when it comes to sizing . it is quite heavy but dont really notice this when i have it on.i wear mine out side so i can see the lights as the confirmation vibrations it gives can be the same for green and amber .. it unarm's when you get off , or when the engine stops. if i was purchasing one now i would get the smart jacket LS one , not the vest . it is pricey at 769 but all in one. my only advice would be go some where you can try it on , take the jacket your be wearing it with , and try under and over but remember to up size if your wearing it over , for me this was also the more comfy way to wear it. hope this helps . sean

I don't mind the lack of the trellis frame... Some fanboys are afraid of change, some of us embrace it... My issue with it will likely be the lack of adjustable suspension... The Monster+ model is $12,400 here in the states, plus taxes and things... The Street Triple RS retails for only $400 more, but makes more power, has an Ohlins shock, Showa BPF front end, comes with better tires.... It has nice electronics and things, but when the price is almost the same as the much more capable Street RS, I would find it hard to justify... If I got the Monster, the first thing I would need to do is start dumping money into the suspension...

@@rubensahak9178 I’m a big fan of the Kawasaki. Considered getting one, but it was a lot taller and heavier than I wanted, so bought a Fantic 450. Kind of similar retro vibe and good looking IMO. I reckon most of these big bikes are doomed. Most of my mates have either quit, or are buying far smaller, lighter, less powerful and cheaper bikes. Hardly any younger riders coming up. The demographic is changing. Ducati were right to make their little scrambler.

Great review, but it looks like the worst new mid sized bike I've seen since the KTM Duke 790. Looks similar to the Benelli 500 Leoncino, except they look better than this Monster does.. I absolutely love this bike. Tremi system will be here in a few days. Belly pan ships on the 9th. Coming off a 97 SRAD750 and 05 K1. The power delivery is wonderful. The quickshifter felt un-natural at first, especially the down shift. The up shifts blow me away how crisp and fast it is. I’ve never felt so confident and comfortable in the corners, the electronic suite is amazing. What trellis fame ? Times change, get over it. The 821 and the 1200 barely have a trellis frame anyway and have been getting smaller over the years. The 890r is as equally ugly in my eyes. But isn’t that what the “Monster” is all about 😂

I like the comments on here from armchair bikers best. They haven't ridden it and most haven't seen it but they know so much about how it rides, how it doesn't match up to the old trellis framed Monsters. Maybe they are all scaffolders? As an owner of one and an owner of an older model Monster (S4R) - open clutch and everything - I can tell you the new Monster is different but it is EPIC to ride. It's so light and with the Termi race exhaust, it growls (and I just removed the DB killers yesterday and it sounds FIERCE). Super nimble in corners. I love the bike so far. I don't miss the trellis frame (I have one on my Diavel 1260s.). Give this bike a chance, you'll love it.

I own one, I can confirm that it is indeed not a monster anymore. Let's forget about the trellis frame because it is what it is. This monster feels very cheaply made, the fit and finish is garbage, its got a plastic shell around the tank. You sit noticeably higher which is not the way monsters have been. It sounds like garbage with the OEM exhaust which is partially due to exhaust laws in the US and the UK but even with those laws having been around for a while the 821 still sounded good with factory exhaust. The only thing that this thing has in common with previous monsters is the badging and the fact that it feels like it wants to kill you, but then again cheaper bikes from yamaha, kawasaki, and honda offer that same feeling with much cheaper maintenance.

The fuel tank is tiny, there’s enough space to hold an alleged 14-litres but its dimensions fit with the rest of the bike, keeping the bike light enough for some sporty handling while still returning almost 50mpg. That would result in a theoretical tank range to empty of 150-miles. Not massive but the compromise of keeping the weight down is worth it.

Nice looking bike would look better with an all matter black theme but it sounds rubbish not like the famous desmo sound.

I definitely agree on the colour. You never know, there might be an S or even an R to follow?! Would be interesting to hear the full Termignoni system on it to see if that livened it up a little.
