There is one big thing that makes this bike NOT perfect. It's expensive. The same goes for ALL Ducati, the reason why Ducatis are not perfect motorcycles because they are overrated status symbols of excessive lifestyle and "bragging" rights. Expensive to buy, expensive to run, expensive to maintain, expensive to repair, expensive to modify, expensive to insure, expensive to be just itself. An overly unreasonably ridiculous expensive machine that only the very few can appreciate. Don't get me wrong. I like and love Ducatis and as pure riding machines, they are perfect for what they do but the "price tag" ruins the perfection.

Maybe look at the service intervals before making bold statements. 9,000 miles for an oil service. 18000 miles before the valves need doing. Compared to most others on the market that's excellent. Ducati comes with a 4 Yr unlimited mileage warranty in the UK. Nobody else has that.

like iphones or expensive smarthphones, they have their buyers and it is not bad, but you realised you are happy enough with a vtrom 1050 or a african twin 1100 (or even small bikes) because what they offer is enough, and in my case, is easier to find parts of the bike avaible

I feel like this bike is a bit...cynical? In that, its perfect on paper, of course reviewers will love it for all its stat stuffing and "all-things" appeal, but for me this would be a nightmare real life bike. Expensive to buy, expensive to own, wouldn't dare drop it off-road, would never use an ounce of its power because its very illegal, can't really change anything about it post-purchase...just not practical at all! I understand the general super car mentality of build showcase bikes to drive demand within a premium sector...but that market/buyer/hype machine...is it really beneficial in any way to the rest of us?

@@diversityhobbit again, only my perspective, but I think that is very much along the same lines. I was a potential buyer for the X, but I couldn't justify what it is as an overall package against its competition. The marketing etc is very ducati and very appealing, but I don't think it constitutes good value for money, and as consumers we shouldn't be blind sighted of that fact...it's a race in the wrong direction for our hobby imo.

I have got my Rally in April and since then took it around Italy including Sicily and Sardinia as well as Corse in France. Max. average fuel consumption was 5.7 ltr/100 km which I found to be very very good. All this thanks to the rear cylinder deactivation feature. Overall, this bike is a fantastic long distance tourer. Its a mighty machine when you first step on to it but after a few kilometers you feel how much confidence the bike provides. The fear of dropping the bike when moving it around disappears after a few weeks.

Cylinder deactivation = problems. At least in cars it does. No thanks. Not willing to see how it does in a motorcycle. No mention of the heat that cooks one's legs? That alone is a deal breaker for me. Especially since I live in Texas. Poor fuel economy. One poster said that 5.7 ltr/100 km is pretty good. For a Ducati I guess. I routinely get 5.0 ltr/100 (47mpg) or better on my R1250RT and can easily go 300+ miles on a tank. And the RT does not cook it's rider. 170hp? Meh. My 136hp R1250RT can send me straight to jail without passing go. On the street, low end and mid-range power and torque is where it's at. Of course, the GS and GS Adventure have the same engine. Part of why BMW continues to out sell Ducati and everyone else in the large adventure market by a large margin.

that reaction system doesn’t sound like it’s a good idea imo. after years of running you know the two front cylinders will wear out so ones than the two rear. common sense. if the system happens to fail, you could get stuck with half an engine. this would be a deal breaker if i was concerned this bike. the automotive industry have engines that completely shut down at a red light, and automatically start as you press the gas pedal. this is undoubtedly the worst idea ever implemented into an internal combustion engine. other than that the multi-strada is one awesome machine. looks good to. and 170 HP, holy crap. it’s a beast !

This bike isn't close to perfect. What are you on about? It's 2023 and outlets still have the same issues with bike reviews (they've evolved) and manufacturers. The host presents well and there's nice editing and production on the video. It's undermined by the title and some of the slants. Why isn't it close to perfect? Well, many of the reasons are mentioned in the video. Some aren't, which include details associated with the company and maintenance - which should be part of every review, along with history, if it's not a new bike.

Just had a test ride on the Rally. Thinking of having a change from my trusted Beemer 1250 GSA TE. In some ways it lived up to expectations but in others it just didn't. It sounded like a sewing machine (euro 5 I know), the seat was uncomfortable, the engine braking did not make for enjoyable flowing rides, the switches were just pony, especially the turn indicators. Plus the top end bike was over £27K but you had to pay extra for tyre pressure monitoring, keyless fuel cap and engine bars - really!!!! Am I missing something after all the rave reviews or is it just me
@bsebesty
@bsebesty 9 месяцев назад
I went through the same process. Fantastic test ride, love the whole thing. Then I did the maths to switch from my 1250GSA to the Rally with engine bars, top-box (+ panniers), TPMS, keyless fuel cap and I had to realise that it just doesn't make any rational sense. Nevertheless it's still an object of desire for me 🤣

As an owner of a 2024 Multistrada V4 Rally I would warn anyone against thinking of the as "Best bike". The chassis is great (really great). The engine is nice for agressive driving - not so for more relasex driving (as in adventure touring). After 1600km the engine sounds as if someone has poured gravel into it. It was ok from the beginning but has suffered from increasing noise from valves and/or timing chains. The Desmo Ducatis have always been noisy but the V4 has no desmo valves. You need earplugs when you drive this one. At 3500 rpm, the noise is so bad that you find yourself prepared to push the clutch in case of a seizure… Below 3000 rpm, the bike is practically un-driveable. Don’t bother to drive in slow traffic - even if you can bear the enormous amount of heat emitted from the engine. The quickshifter, that was supposed to be really smooth on these bikes, is really a hit and miss. It’s great when it works, but it rarely does. When the engine is warming up, it works ok. When warm…not so much. Less than 50% hit rare. But when it does work, it’s really smooth - at least the up-shifts. When it doesn’t, and you never know beforehand, the gears will bang in, leaving you wondering how much abuse the gearbox can take. The dealerships (at least in Sweden) leaves a lot to wish for. Any problem I had, the response was that "a Ducati should be like that". The service person in my case, seemed to believe that the V4s have desmo valves and blamed the noise on that. That doesn’t give you much confidense. I got zero help with any problem with the bike. Clearly the warranty isn’t worth anything. But they charge crazy amounts for mainrenance (4000 Euro for 1000 km oil change). Eventually I contacted Ducati support, as I got nowhere with the dealership. However, they showed little interest as well. This is the most expensive bike I have bought, but unfortunately also the worst bike experience. Don’t make the misrake I made, believing that this is a GSA-competitive. This is nowhere near the BMW experience. It has a better chassis than the Bmw, and is really fun on twisty roads. It’s also better offroad. But that’s it. The Bmw’s engine is light years ahead in the adventure bike context. Bmw’s customer service isn’t always the best, but compared to Ducati’s, it’s golden.

Before I got my Pan Am S I looked at the V4 Rally, too bad I didn't have dealer less than 100 miles away. I didn't look at fuel economy or capacity & I'm surprised at the numbers. 30L is 7.92 gallons. My Pan Am has 21L=5.6 gallons. I've been keeping track & I'm averaging 47mpg, 260mp tank. If the V4 R is getting 286, that's only around 36mpg. Can that be right, 11mpg less? I find it hard to believe (with the V4 passing Euro5) that it wouldn't be much higher. A 7.92 gallon tank would see me to 372 miles on my Pan Am, I would've guessed the same for the V4 R. I know it's a weird thing to glom onto but, it's a ADV touring bike, I expected way better mpg due to the "touring" part of the description.
