Ducati have updated their middleweight Panigale for 2020, although it's not really a middleweight at all with 153bhp on tap! See how Michael Neeves got on with the bike at its world launch at the Jerez circuit in Spain.

Traded my V4S for this bike and am delighted with the change. It really does feel like it’s in the perfect goldie locks zone of power and agility. Turned 8000 miles on it so far and seem to love it more every ride. I find it surprisingly comfortable too - I’m 6’2” and routinely do 300 mile days on it with minimal stiffness. Just such a great bike on track and on the street.

Why v2 is better than v4s ? In what way?
@solo_dingo
@solo_dingo 10 месяцев назад
@@samj923 probably because the v4 is a bit intimidating, a difficult to ride fast or slow for many riders. It's full beast where as this is not a beast at all.

I took the v2 Panigale out today and found it really uncomfortable to ride and abit underwhelming then took a v4 street fighter out straight after it and absolutely adored it. Obviously a personal preference thing but I felt like the sound was like a 125 with a big exhaust on it from the V2 where as the V4 was brutal. I’m yet to try a street fighter v2 as I think that would be the perfect bike for me
@Scootir185
@Scootir185 3 месяца назад
@@jbish1479 I admit I’m a bit of a rare animal in that I can be quite comfortable on a sport bike. But I think your instincts are correct that the V2 Streetfighter would be amazing for the street. I had a first gen V4 and I know Ducati has tuned it more and more for the street with each generation, so it’s likely a better street bike now. But for me at least you just can’t open up the V4 in most non-track situations, whereas the V2 can be stretched out a bit closer to legal speeds. If I had a Ducati dealership close to me still I’d have a V2 Streetfighter in my garage for sure. Anyway, good luck in your search. So many great Duc’s.

I think the Aprilia RS 660 is going to steal some twin cyl sports bike sales ... whenever it finally shows up ... ugh. It'll be cheaper and slower, but looking to be a fun machine!
@nihvl
@nihvl 4 года назад
xorbe2 it’s not in the same class tho Aprilia RS 660 is a sports tourer with APRC not a supersport it’s pretty much evident from the way Aprilia set the motorcycle up but being an Aprilia it’ll be quite fun on some windy roads but definitely not a direct competitor to middleweight supersport. I think Ducati supersport SS might be a better rival than the V2 for the RS 660
@BigUriel
@BigUriel 4 года назад
@@xorbe2 Supersport bikes in general are kind of dead, that Aprilia will probably flop because people just don't want middleweight sports bikes any more. Ducati can still sell these "middleweight" bikes because they're not middleweights at all they're pretty close to liter bikes. Used to be that supersports and superbikes were very different beasts, with the supersports being light and nimble and the superbikes bigger and heavier, a lot more expensive and not any faster at B road riding because of the worse low speed handling. But modern superbikes are just as light and nimble as supersports, and supersports cost almost as much as superbikes so it's basically just a couple thousand quid difference (not a huge amount when you're already paying like 14k) for basically the same but with nearly twice the power, which even if you don't need it it's always nice to have.
@xorbe2
@xorbe2 4 года назад
@@BigUriel yeah I agree. I guess I'm the odd buyer that prefers to buy 100hp instead of 200hp. I just don't need all that power, fuel usage, and engine heat! And I like twin cyl, but not cruisers ... niche preferences, lol
@MountainMetal
@MountainMetal 4 года назад
@@xorbe2 Just going to chime in with what I did once, and ended up thrilled with the results of my decision. A gently used Monster 1100S with proper pipes is right at 100 HP and 80+ pounds of twin cylinder torque, and can easily be taken down to 350 lbs dry. Very comfortable for most riders, top shelf brakes and suspension, head turning Italian styling, daily rider dependability, no heat issues, 50+ miles per gallon, and with some careful looking, can be had with low miles and in very nice condition for eight large or less, and the miles of JOY per dollar quotient is almost unbeatable by anything on wheels.

You're very right, but I'd add that Mcn always seems to favour the magazine over pretty much everything else. Even their website feels like a mere poor relation to the magazine. Their long term fleet pages are rarely ever updated and their reviews considerably shortened. I've recently subscribed and am awaiting my first issue, so we'll see if they're right to do so...

The reviews from a few years back but still excellent. Just bought a 2022 ex demo bike with 400 miles on it (I did over 200 of them last year) that’s shrunk the bank balance but what a machine this bike is. Got my full licence exactly 1 year ago and done 6000 miles on my first big bike (CBR650R) which was great but really amazed at the handling and performance of the V2 and looking forward to learning heaps more this year. Me and my son went to the Austrian alps last year this year it will be a tour of Italy so we will be taking my V2 and his SP2 home 👍

Hector, Ducati has a past remembered by the lovers of the brand. I have always wanted to own one but never had the extra money for one. I owned a Honda V45 Interceptor, 1983 then an 85 GSXR 750. Both were nice back then and were fairly inexpensive. If I were young and in the market for a new bike I would certainly think about YAMAHA. My second bike was a 1968 YAMAHA 350 YR2C Scrambler. I loved that bike. My first bike....... Montgomery Ward 125 about 1965. For the money the Japanese give you the most performance for sure.

@SDSSMotoChannel SDSS, I don't have Ducati issues. Many sport bike enthusiast look at Ducati, Bimoto and other Italian bikes as very fast works of art. I know I do. Joeri De Strijcker Yeah I know. Euro5-6-7 won’t help with that either. Big cylinders/pistons are generally harder to seal properly and burn a bit of oil, which is bad for emission tests (hence the disappearance of big singles). Still, I do think the SFv2 could exist with this engine, especially if the monster gets the v4. I don’t need 200hp and I love Vtwins, so it could be a bike I would consider, even if all these modern electronic gizmos turn me off a bit.
