Smooth style and plenty of corner speed - Mike Hailwood would've loved this thing. Good video - mcn's youtube output so much better in the last 12-18mths. And please take and post plenty of recordings of that euro trip.

Hope they make a baby panigale like they did for all the v-twin panigales. A 800cc-ish V4 Panigale would be neat.

It won´t be a v4, I think they will use the 959 panigale v twin engine on the baby panigale, and the smaller v4 they will make is the 1000cc on the v4r

Great vid Mr N and you describe the riding experience on the mighty V4 exactly as I would on the "Baby" Panigale (my 899) - always an experience to ride the Panigale, just makes you feel so darned good......I also have an issue with the heat off the engine on the 899 (although the heat shield I fitted helps) and of course the mirrors do still fold in on the Panigalina (and don't vibrate at all)......lovin' your work, all the best....TMF

Great review, my only gripe with the bike is the heat under the seat will cook you on a warm day other than that its fantastic!

Great 4k mile review. I barely have 1k miles on my speciale and i agree with almost everything. I think the heat is much more tolerable in comparison to the early model panigale. I have the full akra exhaust so maybe that makes a huge difference over the stock exhaust heat.

Sounds like heat under the seat could be a real turn off for me to upgrade..at the price its set at you would think they would have ensured that wasnt an issue.

Ducaties are sensitive to that battery level drop, when it happened to the first time i googled and there was alot of topics on forums regarding that issue

Let the early adopters tire of this bike and move on to the next big thing for the 2020 model year. I did this a couple of months ago and let a 2016 1299S owner break in my bike with 2000 miles, saved the cost of a new Scrambler compared to the new leftover 2017 model sitting on the showroom.

S. Burns holy shit congrats! what a deal man! Cant believe people who buy these amazing bikes new at full msrp and put so few miles on, taking the worst hit of depreciation, only to sell them at a massive loss 1 to 2 years later ! Glad they do though for us hahaha

S. Burns exactly!... i did the same and picked up a 2014 1199s stealth dark edition for $15k... plan on doing the same for a V4... just gotta wait it out.

Exhaust under the seat is a deal breaker for me, way too hot. I love my Monster 1200S for its comfort

I don't think it's the exhaust, it's more the cylinder heat, gets me on the inside of my left thigh wearing kevlar jeans. Don't feel it wearing my leather pants, but it is still winter here in Australia.

So In other words ducati gave you some nice perks to make a nice review for there bike. Hahaha I ran a windsurfing review and that's how it works the more adds in the magazine the more and better monger review you get.

Drew Miller is actually say the Ducati is better on the road (plusher and more comfy) and the R1 easier to ride on track. The V4 is fast, but you have to take a deep breath for a lap time. You can ride the R1 quick all day.

Good stuff, and a good response. So what you are saying is you need both... I get it! Seriously though, both are great bikes, and I would go with a dedicated track bike (like your lovely BMW!) and a gently used, one-owner Panigale V4 or RSV4.

I've sat on one when they first arrived in the dealers and i tell thee, the "theres plenty of leg room" comment in this video is 100% false! Just to clarify how bad the leg room/riding position was i went and sat on the dealers 899 and it was like a vfr 800 in comparison!

Thanks for the review! I am wondering which one is hotter between 1199s and V4s. My 1199s is bearably hot. If V4s is hotter, I would stay with 1199s for awhile.

No, I didn't just because the pipe can cool down normally. Heat insulation tape might cause abnormal heat dissipation. Thanks though.

Do you think that a homologation special will suffer in the ride deprtment when it's reduced to 1000cc?

How do you find the foot peg ground clearance on track. Seems to be a fair few reports of riders eating their boots during high lean angle situations

This might be a stupid question, but isn't it a little dangerous having a lithium ion battery next to the petrol tank? Are there any incidences of these blowing up and taking the petrol tank with it? Excuse my noob question, just curious that's all.

123ubuntu666 quite a few performance machines have lithium batteries nowadays. They’re never too far away from the fuel tanks, just because the bikes are so compact and there’s nowhere else to put them. There’s always that risk, I guess, but I haven’t heard of any problems.

I don't follow this channel so excuse my ignorance, but why is this titled "long term update (2)" when it is only 4000 miles in? 4000 miles is maybe a month of riding. Maybe it means high miles for Ducati.

I knew about its existence, beautiful machine in my opinion, but honestly I never learned about the price. When I have test driven naked bikes I found them too small, don't want to bother to try one of these ever.

I recently rode a V4s. Does it have some sort of technology whereby it allows only less than 4 of its cylinders to operate at standstill or low speed city traffic conditions? That is the feeling I had. However once I whacked the throttle open it just blasted off . Also do all Ducati’s have a snatchy throttle at low speeds or it was caused due to using RON 91 OCTANE fuel? Thanks.

V D Yes it shuts down two cylinders at stops while idling to reduce the risk of overheating. And yes it is a little anarchy with the fueling at slow speeds, but nowhere near as bad as the 1299. At least for the V4s I own

V D Yeah I installed the spacer kit a few weeks back. Makes a big difference with the smoothness and predictability of throttle application

This is the drawback with having Casey Stoner as a development rider,nobody on the planet can ride like him but if you gave him this bike and all the other top bikes,you know that the Panigale will be the quickest with him on board.

It’s abit “wristy “ after less than hour riding, the heat will melt your leathers and normal jeans are out of the question,it’s unridable in non stop commuting traffic,the mirrors don’t work,the gearing is so long you can ride around in 1st gear which is also outside the bikes powerband and the cherry on top is it will empty your wallet at a ridiculous $46,000 AUS retail.?😳🤔 Just for comparisons sake you can buy a 2018 BMW S1000RR with options for less than $23,000.Half the price? I have not ridden the V4 or any superbike just to be clear,I love looking at them,listening to them and chatting to owners over a coffee, maybe they are machines that are not meant to be justified or make common sense 😍👊✊️

I have a 1299 & the V4 . I live in S.W. Florida. I rapped the exhaust & installed the Akp CF shroud on the 1299 & the Akp titanium eh. on the V4 & both are jean friendly . The 1299 was not until I did the above.

CPUspeed im 6’2...which bike is better suzuki gsxr 1000 r or kawasaki zx10r...engine reliability and less maintenance...next 10-15 years

I would check out 44teeth recent gsxr1000r review. The kawi footpegs are higher so the suzuki wins for tall people. Find a dealer with both suzuki and kawi and sit on them both to check ergos.

Saying don’t buy it. Guess Aprilla rsv4 rf is the way to go. Top of line rf is what $21k. And maintenance is much better than the overpriced Duc maintenance.

All 1k’cc bikes are too fast for most tracks (especially the popular tracks) and price is subjective to every person!... plus the majority of people that buy Duc’s use them on the track and then trailer it back to the cave it sleeps in (although you may see one in the wild at some point.).

you could say that about anything. shoes, a car, business class seats in a plane. luxury items are for people who dont have to think twice about buying something. its not a waste of time and money for those who can afford it, it was never made for people like you

"Waste of money" is 100% subjective. Even if you buy it and just leave it in your driveway to look at its beauty, it is not a waste of money if that's what makes you enjoy it.
