Happy you like the nightshift, Dan. I own a 23 Icon and totally agree with everything you said. Im 50+ but this is my first bike so def. aimed at beginners.. but not just young hipsters. The indicators and mirrors are standard (as your tester) on the nightshift. A few other bits also like the flat bar make it quite a bit more expensive than the Icon and Full Throttle. I have a few custom pieces on mine alreday - a quickshifter and the bar from the full throttle. A few other bits to be replaced this year if all goes as plannned. Can’t wait to get back on the road. Great vid. Ride safe. 😊

Yep, I test rode the icon and monster and picked scrambler. Small, compact, handles great, power not licence threatenin, light, smooth. Only negative are price and mudguards. Goes well on green lanes and shit roads. May upgrade suspension.

It’s a lovely bike, but carries a very spicy price tag.. To load it up you’re looking at £14k… the spoked rim options is £1.2k… valve clearance every 7.5k miles… that’s not going to be cheap. Great review Dan…😊

What a fabulous colour that bike is! All of my other opinions about it are moderated by it's preposterous price and Ducati servicing lurking in the hazy £££££ distance. Still, as you say, fun - for hobbyists with deep wallets. Safe riding.

Solid points Clive. I guess Ducati has a pricetag which you have to accept going in. Ooer.
@reddpill

I'd love to buy a Icon or a Full Throttle but the prices are crazy. There are so many options out there now, that also don't carry those maintenance costs either. That new 400 triumph, even thou it's a "budget bike" will steal alot of sales from the Icon as it's half the price (two for one!). I think Ducati has priced themselves out of the market for this new scrambler. My local dealer has barely sold any. Would love to see their sales figures for it since it's been out.
@logangodofcandy
@logangodofcandy 6 месяцев назад
The 400 seems like a great entry bike, even. Good mid bike. It sure why most people would bust out double the price for a slightly better bike. May as well go all out and just get the sled or 1200xe
@Englishbikerdan
@Englishbikerdan 6 месяцев назад
The pricing is high, and only people who really WANT a Ducati at a lower price will buy one, I think. Although as I said, I wouldn't compare it to the 400's personally.

Obviously it's a Ducati so it's not going to be cheap but for me if I wanted a bike in that style I would buy the CF moto 700cl-x with 70bhp and 5 years warranty at a fraction of the price. I have to admit the Nightshift looks good though, especially with the black spoke wheels and being Italian rather than Chinese it's worth some of that premium price. Thanks for the review, made me realise that an ex-demonstrator isn't always a good bargain as it's probably been ridden by loads of RU-vidrs taking it down green lanes etc.

Maybe Al hasnt forgiven you for your on track antics 🙂 How are those rims tubeless? Is it not just the tyre spec?
@paulwalker5339
@paulwalker5339 6 месяцев назад
It also depends on how the spokes connect to the rim. A simple way (which some aftermarket solutions offer) is to have a rubber like gasket line the inside of the time where the spokes come through. The more desirable way is to have the spokes connect at the outside edge of the rim (look at the wire wheels on a BMW Gs). This way the spokes are away from the tube.

It is awesome bike. After a fantastic test ride I have bought a new one for me. I've used it for 1 day, rode about 30km and end up with break fluid leak and not functional rear break. All friends now laugh as hell, because they told me the bike will spend more time in service than with me. What is your experience with Ducati?
@raoulduke3770
@raoulduke3770 25 дней назад
I had a 2007 Monster 695, 10k trouble free miles. Currently have a 2011 Hypermotard 1100, again about 10k trouble free miles except my oil cooler cracked at the fitting around 7k miles. Not sure if it was a rock that caused it or just a defect. Just make sure you keep up with oil changes, belt replacements and valve checks. Those 2 valve air cooled motors are bulletproof.

I mean, that's not an apples to apples comparison to me as the Scrambler makes quite a bit more power. The Ducati's build quality and equipment is also higher. Having said that, I can't deny the excellent value of the Speed 400. I just wouldn't compare it to the Scrambler, personally.
@reddpill
@reddpill 6 месяцев назад
@@Englishbikerdan My comment wasn't meant to be an apples to apples comparison per se. I think that Triumph has created such a "disruptive bike" it'll will have the entire industry rethinking their strategies esp. if it can even steal sales from Ducati for more expensive "retro scrambler". In fact Triumph could even be getting pressure from inside the industry to raise the price because of it. Be interesting to see how the next 12 months goes.
