I bought a 2023 Ducati Diavel V4 and I have put over 25,000 miles on it in a year. My total cost is $50,000.00 so far including Termignoni Titanium Dragster exhaust, Up map, four sets of new Diablo tires, factory services at dealership, insurance in CALIFORNIA, new chain and sprockets, up graded intake, and multiple other modifications. I use as my daily driver and do triple digit speeds everyday out here in California. Definitely the best money spent. So far it's costing me $2.00 per mile. I also have two 2024 Panigale V2s for my twin boys so we can rip around together. I didn't include any of the Panigale costs. The insurance is higher since I have to insure all of three of us in all three bikes. I paid cash for everything so I don't pay anything on interest. Definitely worth every penny. Slow Rider Ducati out. I am moving down to Phoenix in about six months so you may see the Slow Rider ripping up and down the Arizona highways 😂😅. I may have to buy a Panigale V4 so I can keep up with you on the Interstates.

Use ONLY Motul 300V 15w-50 in that bike! Change the oil yourself once a year or 3000 miles and it will last you a long time, you can check valve clearence yourself during the winter time, no big deal, check youtube vids how to do it, mostly you dont have to shim anything. The issue with the R is that the pistons need to be changed quite often:(
@CaliMotoTV
@CaliMotoTV Месяц назад
I'm not doing any valve checks on the bike, I'm not confident if something breaks that Ducati would honor the warranty with work not being done by an authorized service dealer. I only use 300v, but there is the special shell oil to make it make more hp but it needs to be changed after 600miles or 2 track days
@MaciusSzwed

Thank you for that video. It is refreshing to hear the reality of the costs associated from someone who uses the bike in a species appropriate manner as intended. The services are expensive, everything on the bike is complex and no your buddy down the road will not do a valve check in 6 minutes on it for a beer and 5 bucks. It is a V4. Everything takes time. As an owner of a Honda VFR that I ride not on a track but around 15k km a year I can tell you that a big service when the valves are due alone is 1100 EUR in my case, change the tires as well brake pads, chain general wear and tear and 2k EUR are nothing special. For a sports tourer. In my experience the more you ride the more expensive it gets. ( DUH ) however not so much if you calculate cost per km. Cheaping out on stuff also is no option for me. The couple of bucks I save are nothing compared to being stranded in the Albanian mountains only because some cheap part gave up ( totally did not hapoen to me - but one guy I was on that tour with ) So yeah. If you use a bike, any bike, in a serious manner you better have the money for it or let it be honestly.

I always say, I don't come with a warranty, so if things go wrong on a bike like this, it is crazy expensive to eat if you do it yourself.

I could afford to buy a Ducati in my 20s and 30s but I knew I could afford to maintain it. It wasn’t until my 40s that I felt I could truly afford one. Factor that in for the cost of ownership. It’s just a reality.

Liberty Mutual, 673 year for full coverage on 2024 BMW m1000R, Ducati has a premium for insurance seems like, My monster 1200 R is about 300 a month for full coverage and its a 2016 lol. Just make sure you are getting all the discounts available to you; Married, multiple vehicles, own you home, bundle policies, oh and pray you never have to use the insurance. So a major thing with the insurance here is the uninsured motorists charges really are the highest thing. Tons of hit and runs and people without licenses or insurance here in az. And thank you!!
@langhamp8912
@langhamp8912 Месяц назад
Compared to ten years ago, current BMW S1000RR (not the M) seem reasonably low. My current '22 XSR900 is $400 per year but the uninsured coverage does add $100. I insure "solo", that is, with no housing or other vehicles. A quote for a GSXR1000 cost $2600 for me while the BMW S1000RR is under $1000. In my opinion, you have to have full coverage (especially uninsured) on bikes since they're so vulnerable to theft, damage, and the uninsured. I've noticed anecdotally almost 100% of collisions are with the uninsured.

SP2 w 4500 miles on my dry clutch, still going strong, don't track or wheelies, just cruise around town and spirited fun. For the V4R my dealer said if you're not tracking, you can follow the regular V4 maintenance schedule. Dropped my SP2 in a parking, had to replace the full right fairing and carbon wing which was the only damage, $3700 for everything out the door. Could've painted the fairings and ordered stickers but the stickers are under clear coat and very expensive, also the matte on the SP2 is a pita to match. All parts would come from Italy. That's nothing, a wing on a Superleg V4 is $5-6k....won't be owning one of those lol.
@CaliMotoTV
@CaliMotoTV Месяц назад
Yea my insurance covered my "hypothetical" situation 😆 but yea, I know the motor is different between the sp2 and v4r, I wonder if the service would be the same for the dry clutch. I get the v4 and sp2 being similar but the v4r is different....🤔 might have to do a follow up video comparing the 1103 and 998 v4 services...

Clutch pack is a clutch pack. I Used to get around 6 thosand miles from my st4s dry clutch ragging it. My sp2 has 3 thou on it now and I reckon I will get at least another 3 or 4.hardly ever use the clutch to be honest. Clutch pack for v4r in Europe is 400 euros for stock and about 180 for aftermarket.so a grand us seems steep.
@j.taveras8447
@j.taveras8447 Месяц назад
@@CaliMotoTV Yes I know they're different. Different engine, clutch, suspension, electronics and manual. I bought the SP2 because the service intervals of the V4R scared me, and it was before the bike was actually being sold. I mentioned my maintenance concerns to my dealer and the mechanics and they all stated that yes if the bike is being tracked, you should follow the manual, but if driving normal/spirited on the streets as I ride mine he said you "could" follow the basic V4 service....which in reality it doesn't matter unless you're stacking 6k miles before 12 months, otherwise regardless, all bikes fall under annual service. And definitely wasn't going to use the shell oil which lasts 600 miles and is stupid expensive for just 2 hp.

I just payed cash for mine. I hadn't thought about monthly payments. I would have passed if I had to make payments)))) The second the warranty is up, I'm total DIY. As for insurance, I pay $100 per year for liability, and I keep $40k in the bank for unfortunate events like hypothetical truck mayhem))) I also keep an extra set of wheels so that I don't notice tire cost as much. Notice is the operative word in that sentence)))

I would agree that these prices can be stupid for some. But tell me this, if you buy it outright and pay the 48k, do you feel that's better than financing it and only losing 13-20k depending on how long you keep it? See for me, my content can pay for this (along with the fact I'm an engineer that owns a consulting company) and I don't keep bikes very long. So keeping 30 of the 48k to invest in other things like the build I have and then sell the bike, I'm not out 48k straight away...but to each their own.
