Andre "Black Nerd" Meadows talks about the announcement of the voice cast for DuckTales, the 2017 reboot coming to Disney XD with a former Doctor and a number of Saturday Night Live cast members providing the voices of the characters. Does a new DuckTales warrant a new cast or should they have used the remaining original voice cast?

Special thanks to everyone who enjoys my "make-em-up" songs. It''s what I like to do and I use as much or as little of it as I feel works for the video (sometimes I cut or delete songs altogether from videos). Not trying to be a professional singer or anything. I just like having fun with the properties I'm talking about, and making up silly songs is one of them. So thank you for those who understand that. See, it's weird. Not all that upset about new voice actors in this, but I was SUPER bummed that the original voice actresses didn't come back for PowerPuff Girls, especially since the rest of the actors came back. I wonder why that is.

Andre "Black Nerd" This is why the "new voice actors=bad show" logic was created since kinda back then. At least unlike Li, Palamides and Leighton, Steven Yeun, Jeremy Shada, and the others didn't have death threats for replacing the old voices of Voltron since it has good writing.

I feel like you just said it Andre. With the PowerPuff Girls reboot, they brought back almost every other cast member EXCEPT the main girls, so it sticks out like a sore thumb. With this, they're replacing the whole cast, so it's easier to accept this as it's own thing.

I'm actually kinda bummed they didn't get their actresses from Quack Pack to do their voices. I'm not doubting this cast's acting abilities. It's just strange they didn't go with actual voice actors.

I don't mind them having individual personalities. But the personalities in Quack Pack were kind of cliche for a 3-man group. Huey was the slick, flirty one. Dewey was the brains. Louie was a dumb jock. Maybe this time they looked at what the actors were bringing to the performances and went from there.

My childhood was Mr Young as Scrooge as I am upset that he will no longer be able to play him (obviously) but I think, being a Who fan and a lover of David I will be able to deal with no Alan, I think this will just make me transition to a new Scrooge a lite easier. I dunno, I'm really excited for this Ducktales. I'm excited for the art-style and the concept image, I love this cast... although I hope there is some duckiness to all their voices so that Donald doesn't seem like the odd bird out, I've been hearing good things about the writing staff, and I liked how they said they would do more to reference the original comics, which really got me excited as I loved that more than the show as a kid. (Can't beat that theme song though! I imagine the fanbase will be pissed if they change that too much)

I'm excited too... but personally I'd rather they tone down Donald's "duckiness" to better match the others. Quacking ridiculously with every word doesn't allow for very smooth dialogue...

Ironically, if they were to follow the Barks comics the show's based on, Donald would have to be the one to move toward the others and one down his "duckiness." Donald was no clown in the comics--he played more of Launchpad's role without being quite so dimwitted. None of the characters were portrayed as anything less than humans in ducks' bodies.

When I first heard of this, I was kind of excited since I liked the original but still up in the air on seeing it. The moment I heard *David Tennant* would voice Scrooge I screamed in happiness and now feel incredibly hyped.

I heard that a small amount of people working on this have worked on gravity falls. Also the director has said that episodes will stand alone but have something that can contribute to an overarching story. I have no doubt in this new series.

Interestingly enough, Scrooge was voiced by the Cryptkeeper himself, John Kassir, in the Mickey Mouse Christmas special, Duck the Halls, and he sounded JUST like Alan Young.

Duck Tales is responsible for my obsession with Time Travel. The episode where they get the time stopper watch I didn't get to see the whole way through the first time because my parents never understood how painful it was to call us to dinner halfway through a show. So my mind went crazy with possibilities and hasn't quite returned.

Tennant's demeanour as Kilgrave in Jessica Jones will definitely help him get into the Scrooge frame of mind. I hardly ever watch Disney XD, but I may tune in to an episode or two to see how the reboot pans out. Side note: I almost choked at Duckter Who. I think I appreciate puns a little too much.

I am in awe that David Tennant is the new Scrooge McDuck. I was not expecting that at all! And I'm really excited! Whenever I read Scrooge comics, I always hear Alan Young in my head. So I was naturally very skeptical when they announced the reboot and said that Young would NOT be voicing Scrooge (this was before he passed). But with this announcement, my fears are laid to rest. D. Ten will be a wonderful Scrooge, and I look forward to hearing a genuine Scottish accent from our favorite last member of clan McDuck. But what I really want to know is, what are they gonna do with Flintheart Glomgold? In DuckTales, he was Scottish, due to the whole Apartheid thing going on in South Africa at the time the series aired. I always justified that with a personal head canon that his father was a Boer, but his mother was Scottish, and he was educated in Scotland until he was a young adult. I would like to see them return Flintheart to his comic book roots. Granted, it will be just as hard not hearing Hal Smith's voice coming from his mouth. I wonder if David has a BFF who would be willing to voice Flinty? It's also my hope that they will incorporate Don Rosa's canon into the reboot. It. Is. *EPIC!* It needs to be used for this!

I'm cautiously optimistic. There have been bad reboots, but most of themvwere on CN. This is on Disney XD, however, which has such great shows like Gravity Falls, Star vs the Forces of Evil, and Milo Murphy's Law. I think the cast could be good, but as we have not heard them while animated, it's too soon to tell. All in all, I hope this brings a new generation to an appreciation of Duckberg.

I didn't grow up with DuckTales. I am however familiar with most of the characters thanks to the comics (and there's a LOT of them here in Europe). I've never heard the DuckTales theme song, not until I watched that one Top 11 video that Nostalgia Critic made.

When I was 3 years old I had a Disney Afternoon casette tape of all the theme songs and I would listen to it ALL the time so when I saw the announcment video earlier, it occurred to me that like you said, I have waaaay more nostalgia for the theme song than the actual show about which I remember basically nothing. Still excited!

My guess is the new personalities for the kids (don't know how to spell the names outside of Webby and maybe Louie) will be Hewy will be the more geeky one seeing as he's reading a book in all promotional images, Dewy will be more adventurous and brash seeing as he seems to be driving that car with a confident look, Louie will probably be the reluctant one who's kinda scared of everything seeing as he has an awkward look on his face in the new artwork and Webby judging by that grappling hook may be a copy of Mable from gravity falls

I'm stoked for this new DuckTales. I love what Disney has been doing with their television animation, so I'm not worried. Now I just want to go back and re-watch the original series! :D

He only wanted it to end because of how stressful it was working on it. And while yes, that is a perfectly valid reason, let's look at that from the show perspective. Season 2 was very rushed because it was cramming what was originally planned as 2 seasons worth of material. As a result so much goes underdeveloped. Ford was the worst examples because by the time he's introduced and Dipper spends some time with him, the show's over. Nothing with him and Mabel, very little with him and Dipper.

I remember this show back when I was very little like 4 and 5. I barely remember many of the characters but I remember everyday I would wakeup and watch it before school before they switched it to the afternoon after school. I even remember the game original and remake of it. that game drove me and brother crazy but we loved it. this will bring great early childhood memories.

I'm not even nostalgic for the original duck tales. I actually just started binge watching it like s year ago for the first time, but I think it's a genuinely good show. Especially the more plot driven episodes, like the 4-parters and whatnot.
