DuckTales Reunited: Nothing can stop Della Duck! | Review | Analysis | Reaction 

The scene where Louie thinks that it's his fault for not immediately accepting Della back is one of the most heartbreaking of the series, and it further fleshed out this triplet I've come to love

As someone pointed out to me, dewey actually has MET della, so his reaction makes sense. He has reference and can regonise her. Hewey also makes sime sense, hesitance than verification, like a scientist or true nerd. Louie, as the conman savvy guy, is looking for an angle and doesn't trust easily. So, the responses seem reasonable to me

Webby's reaction to seeing Della reunite with the boys was just the best thing ever. I was legit crying, especially with Louie's reaction and when the camera panned to her it made me laugh instead. That scene was the perfect blend of great animation, writing and voice talent!

Beyond the dramatic tension of keeping them apart a big longer, I think Donald's absence really served to underscore what a balancing influence he was on the boys and on Della. She adores her boys and when it comes to adventuring, she rivals Scrooge in how she's able to bond with them through it. But the episode demonstrates her struggles in the domestic, low key nature of being a mom. A problem not just due to her disappearance, but because her very personality and instincts are of acting first and thinking later. Her brother has his temper and bad luck, but his cautiousness, boundaries, and over-protection have helped the triplets to become the capable ducks that they are. It makes for an interesting potential journey for Della adjusting to the fact that the Jet, & Turbo, & Rebel she dreamed about taking on adventures, are a Huey, Dewey, & Louie that are very much Donald's kids in the day to day.

Della doesn't feel like a new character. And that is pretty much the biggest compliment I can give the show

I love the moment he drops the crystal/glass feather that leads to basically unlimited treasure and adventure. It really shows the impact on Scrouge. I love anytime it shows a meiser loving something more than money.

Most shows would keep Della lost forever, but Ducktales actually cares about plot and character development. Either way another great episode.

The most recent batch of episodes have been pretty great. Louie's reaction definitely made the most sense considering what they deal with on a regular basis.

Part of me would love if the suspected season finale of a moon invasion is completely subverted by Donalds bad luck.

Della should legally change Dewey's middle name from "Dingus" to "Turbo." A compromise everyone can agree on, both on and off the show. XD

My reaction to this episode in a nutshell: "I have been crying for 30 Minutes!"

I absolutely LOVE how Scrooge acts around Della, he pretty much behaves as if he was her dad, trying to lecture her and congratulating her after she managed to adapt. It's so sweet.

4:45 that scene of Della tipping the last pea into her mouth felt VERY classic Donald. I don’t recall the exact episode but I feel strongly there was a short that had Donald do a very similar act

I feel like Huey didn’t get a big moment in this episode and it made me a little upset Huey deserves more character development and I find it a bit unfair that Dewey and Louie have a lot more to their character. Maybe someday Huey will get what he deserves

I know the focus here is on Della's reunion/introduction to her family, but I feel an urge to point out that brief interaction between Beakley and Duckworth. I just found it very satisfying.

Excellent review; I missed the dining room callback to the first episode. However, you missed a big callback, too; both Della and Dewey went immediately to the garage after overhearing Scrooge say something and misinterpreting it (Dewey misunderstood his comment about family being "nothing but trouble", and Della heard Scrooge say she's "not a mom" without hearing him say that she still needs time).

The part I loved the most is when she apologized for getting on the rocket. She admits that it was her fault that she was gone for past ten years. Admitting her mistake was a great step for her becoming a mother.

I give all props to the writing for this series. I always gravitated to Louie's arc in this episode because it was the most realistic of this brothers. It hard to truly accept someone immediately when they have been gone for so long. This was well reflected in the family meeting they all had about Della and punctuated greatly by Scrooge telling everyone they have to be patient with Della so she could find out how she fits in the new family dynamic and learn how to be a mother. Props to Scrooge for having perspective.

I really like this episode. How it's explore how Huey, Dewey and Louie see their mother. How Louie seems to have difficult with her at the beginning and seems to give her a chance at the end. And how Della lives her maternity. It's explore in the next episode too. She seems to be quite immature and infantile but she try and it's what Scrooge says. She is not a mother. She have to become a mother. (My english is so bad, I'm sorry.)

I so want Donald to become the Duck Avenger while in space.

I watched this episode on the same day I saw Avengers: Endgame. Emotionally speaking, a terrible mistake.

"Such as hiding behind the giant Aztec coin and making a plan with Scrooge - Dewey did that... or Huey" .... or Thethirdone.

Dewey being the first to embrace Della also makes total sense from a narrative level. Of the triplets, he was the most invested in seeing his absent mother again and was the first one to see her technically speaking, so to see him waste little time in running to her is the payoff for his investment in finding out the truth about her.

I also like how Della had a few mannerisms that were very Donald-like. The embarrassed look she had after she introduces herself to family reminded me so much of the classic Donald look of embarrassment, folding up in himself and hiding his eyes. She also had a similar but not exact angry reaction and fighting stance later in the episode.

Why didn't you mention the fact there names were meant to be jet,turbo,& rebel?

I loved this episode I'm really glad della duck returned to earth and reunited with hewey dewy and louie

And here we have yet another fantastic episode with Della. Her awkward introduction to the kids always gets a good laugh out of me. All I can say is this a perfect Mother's Day episode. Also, let's just hope Donald makes it out okay.

The Terror That Flaps In The Night, OH YEAH BABY!!!

My favorite part of this episode was "I COULD HAVE BEEN TURBO?!"

I missed the parallels with the kids and the table. It was nice to see Della doing what she does best, what is the most basic part of her character: going full bore without thinking something through. That works great when you are fighting for your life, but not so much when you are trying to cook dinner. Still want to see a Della/Webby episode though.

its really strange because della actually feels like she fits into the show alongside all the other characters we know and love

Della is going to learn being a parent is much harder than any adventure she's done.

Once Donald gets back we're going to get an episode with him sad that the boys have seemingly abandoned him for della when, for all purposes he is their adopted dad

I'm so excited for you to review "The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee" and "The Duck Knight Returns." I love Gizmoduck, and the former episode does a good job showing more of why Fenton is such a good character on his own in this reboot. And the latter episode has probably the best twist of the show so far!

my guess for the last episode is the moon people coming to earth, caturing it's people, and della, scrooge, and the kids defeats them making them retreat to the moon

The story of Della has been quite the experience. Brought a lot of information to the Duck family tree. Will the show give us more information on the father?

Is it odd that what I want to see out of this the most is what Della and Launchpad's relationship is going to be like?

I just love how the triplet and Della scene, so much!

This episode couldn’t have been any more surreal than it already is. It’s one of my most favorite episodes in any cartoon show I have ever watched. It is also currently my favorite episode of Ducktales (well, for now, until we get more episodes in September which I presume is the finale of season 2/premiere of season 3). I can’t wait for more episodes with Della bonding with each of the boys as well. Edit (3 years later): I still believe that this is the episode with the quintessential moment of all time.

I wanna see her and Launchpad have an episode together too XD It would be nice to see her interact with him.

I have to admit that I was kind of nervous at how and when they would handle the scene of Della reuniting with her family. My first thought was, "Oh, it's going to be in the season finale, everyone is all happy-go-lucky and no lessons are learned." Thankfully, I think it was smart of them to have Della reunite mid-season so they can have their happy reunion, but also deal with any emotional baggage that came after the Spear of Selene incident. I also like how Donald and Della switched places as a way to keep the Moon Men relevant to the season's story. Does this mean that I'm ready to accept Della into the family? Well, before this episode, I was still pretty ticked that she got on that rocket in the first place instead of being there for her kids, but thankfully, she apologized for that in this episode and she's at least trying to be a mom to Huey, Dewey and Louie. Also, the episode made it clear that it'll take time for Della to find her place in the family. Overall, easily one of the best episodes of the season if not the series.

Oh, and I want to see her bug Gearloose for a different flavor of gum.

There is one thing I've wondered since this aired. Why has no one asked "Where is the spear?" I'm sure if Gyro heard Della had returned in a rebuilt Spear. He'd want to look it over to see what happened when they went threw/hit the cosmic storm.

"HI UNCLE SCROOGE!" The voice acting was perfect. This whole episode was perfect.

This episode was amazing

I know this video is 2 yrs old but I'd like to point out how the kids retreat all the way to the back of the hallway when they see Della on the doorstep. Their initial cautiousness is almost uncharacteristic of them for the reboot, and Webby is standing in front of them almost protectively. Then they all react in their respective way, of course, but it's interesting to see how they back out at first, whether it's from disbelief or shock. It's a nice touch.

When Della came in the room like sup party people that's who I strive to be when I come into any room

Literally the best Ducktales episode ever. (Raiders of the Doomsday Vault is the second best)

I love how they open the door expecting to go on an adventure and this happens. They werent expecting anything like this and it just HAPPENS.

best reunion in cartoon history

I love it when TV shows or movies or whatever treat parents as people, i.e. not cruel or uncaring, but just... well, like any other person. Because you can't be just any other person once you become a parent. Suddenly, it's not just about you, and you have to give up a piece of who you are in order to be there for your child or children. And because Della has been absent for so much of Huey, Dewey and Louie's life (BTW, the fact that she legitimately wanted to all them Jet, Turbo, and Renegade shows just how immature of a parent she really is), she treats her kids more like younger siblings or friends than she does her own children, and the trio don't really know how to react to that. Dewey, as always, is game for anything, Huey puts on his best appearance and tries to make things work for his mother's sake, but it's Louie's reaction that REALLY gets to me, because yeah, having a mom suddenly when you've lived your entire life without one is weird, and the fact that he's expected to have the same feels Huey and Dewey have and defend her actions when he's not fully onboard can be really frustrating for someone like him. Scrooge is right in that Della can't expect to become a mother, let alone the perfect or ideal mother, overnight, and it'll take time for her to find her place in this new family dynamic, which to me means she needs to learn to be mature; because she didn't spend those years raising her kids, she hasn't learned to be the mature, sensible parent that Donald ended up being, and the fact that she thinks she can make up for lost time all in one day, or win the kids over by putting herself in danger and saving them, it just goes to show that she still has a lot to learn. Either way, this episode left me with a lot of warm, fuzzy feelings, and I REALLY look forward to more bonding with Della and her kids... And also seeing where her spat with Launchpad goes.

I'm so glad that this version of Ducktales doesn't use the "return to the status quo" formula that was prevalent in cartoons from the 80s and 90s. I want Della to stay and continue to develop as a character. That goes for for Lena too.

This is my 2nd favorite episode of Season 2. My favorite episode of the season, as well as the series, is still The Most Dangerous Game ... Night!

Scrooge hugs Della, but yells at Donald when he comes home after being stranded on that island. Of course, Scrooge didn't know he was stranded, but still...

Honestly, from at the moment you talked about launchpads new role and then mentioning dwd, I got goosebumps, I mean if he ain’t needed as a pilot anymore it opens a new door, doesn’t seem like it at the moment tho

I wonder if Della will ever meet Lena or that other new friend of Webby's. Or whether she'll have some kind of relationship with Webby.

Della never grew up. Donald had to grow up and raise three children. She maintained her high energy daring do adventurer self, where Donald had to slow down and learn to properly care for children.

Jet, turbo and Rebel 🇱🇷 Jetinho, Turbinho e Rebelzinho 🇧🇷

It was a hard choice to make because of how many other great episodes this show has, but this is my favorite episode because of how effectively it handles its emotional moments. It has a fantastic lead-in with the triplets about to go on an adventure and Scrooge dropping the glass quill when he sees Della at the door. All of the characters are extremely themselves, with Dewey’s overreaction to him not being named “turbo,” to Louie’s skepticism about the entire situation, to Huey’s over-analysis and hyperactivity. The whole “she’s not a mom (yet)” thing was a bit cliché, but it was executed well, and they didn’t dwell on that point longer than needed, so I let it slide. Huey’s hearing damage part was hilarious, as was all of their reactions to the cakes. I just love the whole thing.

My original theory on where Donald was going to end up was that Donald meets this space alien bird girl that he was in a sometime relationship with

well we also have to keep the factor in mind the Dewey been looking for the answer for what too his mom since the series stared too see her in really life wow that must a moment of pure joy too know she is stile alive.

I'm glad they didn't derail the episode as is for it, but I kinda wish Della had asked how Louie knew who Magica was. Or if she'd been curious about why Scrooge had four kids there when she only had three eggs.

Again, Della Duck is not an invention of DuckTales 2017, she was originally from the comics as with a lot of characters in this new show like Fethry, John D. Rockerduck, Goldie O'Gilt, and so on. Her being a pilot was also taken from the comics.

I can completely understand Della's full attention on getting back to her family, but I still can't believe she didn't notice the Spear of Seline taking off into outer space again. But then again, that's all part of Donald's bad luck, right?

I really, REALLY want della to stay as a character in future seasons. I don't want to just see how she interacts with her uncle and her kids just to disapear again in season finale. And I don't think everyone either want that.

This episode made me realize why they shot Donald into space. It gives us time with boys and their mother.
