I used to work in a box factory (Weyerhaeuser) and the board coming off the corrugator was never this flat. This stuff has barely, if any, warp to it. I ran a Bobst Die cutter and board that is shaped like a canoe doesn't feed well and it doesn't work well in the stripping section. This plant looks like a "box makers" dream. 17 years experience.
I hear you. I worked for Menasha Packaging, in Yukon Pa. for a little over 47 years, before I just retired the first of this year.in 2024. The last 5 years, I was the operator of an Isowa Falcon flexo folder gluer, and the only reason I retired, was because of the new work force that was being hired. They don't seem to care. You have to take ownership of the machine you are operating. I was trying to train the operator that was going to take my place, and when problems came up, they just though their hands up, and walked away. You can't do that. You must figure out the problem, and fix it. It happened multiple times, as I was trying to train these people. I gave up. Even the new employees on the corrugator didn't care. They didn't sort out the garbage that they produced. Like warp, and splices. They would rather sit on the steps on their cell phones, than sort out their garbage, and let the next operator deal with it. The Isowa ran 350 boxes a minuet. We didn't have the time to sort out their garbage. I can.t count how many times we had to clear the jam ups because of the garbage. many hours wasted on clearing the jam ups, because of the garbage coming off the corrugator. If it wasn't for new work force being hired that don't care, I would probably be still working there. I loved my job, but I hated the incompetence' of the new work force. The USA is screwed
@@billturk183 We had a pretty old workforce at WeyCo. That wasn't much of an issue. After I left Weyerhaeuser I still had about 10 years to work before I could retire so I picked up a job as head of security for a local resort/convention center. I had the same problems you described with this younger generation of people in the work force. They would come in late and expected me to mention to their managers that they did show up on time for their shift, that wasn't about to happen. Instead of being a self starter and pitching in when someone needed help with something, they would just sit about the place playing with their cell phones. You are correct when you say that the USA is screwed when it comes to this generation of employees. Like you, I really enjoyed my job at the resort but I finally had to retire because of issues with PTSD from my service in Vietnam.
Back in the 70s and the 80s 90% of everything was hand stacked even off the corrugator and the temperatures we're about a 120 degrees in the summertime... they also use formaldehyde in the starch for a bonding agent your eyes would burn so bad and your hands would burn so bad..Fat kids for summer help they would lose 50 lbs...in 3 months... I'm retired now from this industry it looks so easy I'd feel bad taking a paycheck...Back in the 80s they got a new corrugator in had that scissor jack on the roll system the corrugator was shut down or somebody started it up not knowing he was inside he didn't have his headphones on or somebody didn't blow the whistle that it was going to start up went inside there because there was a piece of board covering the eye and that scissor jack almost cut him in half he died instantly when we picked him up my hands went inside where you could feel his lungs...He had like 2 years before he had to retire... Machinery has no conscience I saw how many bad accidents back in the 70s and 80s unbelievable...!!!
@@youssefwang2781 Duhhh... that's why I mentioned the dates the 70s and the 80s the technology about anything is more advanced than it ever will be we go forward not backwards...💪💪💪💪💪👋👋👋👋
